[SOLVED] Cold Boot Issue ATI HD 5770 Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 V 2.0 / GA-M61P-S3

[SOLUTION]
i've found a solution: the problem is the last OFFICIAL Bios, but exists an HIDDEN official bios not dowloadable from the Mobo page at Gigabyte website wich as version FHm (the lastest official si FHL).
The problem affect others mobos wich have even nVidia chipset.
After the BIOS upgrade, all seems to be work ok and multi reset and long delay at startup were corrected.

This is the link with solution and link to the hidden bioses (see the last post at end of page)

Bye!

[PROBLEM]
Hi folks!
i have a problem with my new Sapphire HD 5770 Vapor-x OC edition only at boot.
My mobo resets 8 times before correct boot. This problem is common, as i viewed in some forums, but i not found any solution or cause.
My mobo is a Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 v. 2.0 with nVidia chipset with last bios available. Yes! i know that are enemies, but i've fryed my 9600gt because a dust ball had slowed gpu fan, and alternatives were an "poor" 240GT or HD 5770. Whereas I had planned to upgrade my mobo on a full AMD chipset, i've thought to buy at first the video card (forced by circumstances).
My PSU is an 550W already mounted in my Enermax Cabinet (however, is not marked ENERMAX), but i have a four 12cm fan Enermax Magma (even on a CPU on Gemin II heatsink).
My CPU is an AMD AM3 ATHLON II X4 630 (2800@3400 resetted at 2800 after purchasing the 5770 due the boot issue)

In your opinion:
- is a power problem?
- exists a bios hack to solve this problem?
- The Boot settings for the vga are GPU 850mhz, RAM 1200Mhz, 1.125v: if i change these values to 157/300/1 as a power saving settings by default , can i fix the problem or risk damaging the card?

thanks to all.
Nick

if it works after several reboot, i guess the card is OK
it looks the hardware cant be matched, btw have you tried on the 2nd Pciex slot? does it act the same, have you tried on other board, does it run well
how much power that HD5770 draw? could be insufficient power that supplied by Pciex

Do you have another GPU handy - Even something cheap and useless? It might be an issue with the PCIe not getting enumerated correctly, and thus be a motherboard problem.

Checking with another GPU might see where the culprit lies. Alternatively, test your card in another system, maybe?

I'm not familiar with that particular chipset but I had one in the past that varied the pci-e frequency a bit too much for good stability. Its a long shot but have you fixed the pci-e freq to 100?

also, you mention changing the CPU speed - so it is ok at stock but not ok when OC? Maybe you can try to do the OC again? Maybe your RAM is not fully stable at 1200MHz? What I am saying is that the video card does not need to be faulty to make a system unstable. your mobo setup must also be up to the task.
