Anyone with one of these cards do the update that MSI provided per this statement they issued?

I have tried with two cards, but the updater fails.

Just wondering if anyone else has had success.

Thanks

It turns out, according to MSI, that there are two versions of this card. One needs the BIOS update, the other ships with an updated BIOS.

Interestingly, the BIOS in the 'updated card' is dated Jan. 8, while MSI issued their BIOS update Jan. 24, and the BIOS numbers reflect the BIOS from the Press Release (dated Jan. 24) is several versions newer.

Would be nice if MSI let the public know this. They could easily amend the Press Release.

So, apparently, the Update Tool sees the BIOS in the newer card version and, rather than the GUI stating something to the effect of "you do not need this update, newer version installed", it just closes. I thought there was something wrong with the card.

When I chatted with a MSI support tech, they advised me to RMA the card. Seriously? Their people do not even know about the two versions? Some great support right there! Although, this seems to be the standard industry wide, not just MSI.

By the way, the BIOS from the press release dated Jan. 24 is the one listed on the MSI website download page for the card. But, it will not install on the second version card.

So, it turns out, according to MSI Support, there are two versions of this card.

I have the newer version, which has a 'newer' BIOS. Therefore, the update will not work.

Still, looking at benchmarks posted around the interwebz, the performance of this card is not on par with other brands of 4070 Ti Super.

I was reading the ASUS Strix BIOS is flashable to this card, and offers a respectable performance increase.

Anyone done this? Or, is there a better BIOS anyone has used?
