Hello,
I've just done a fresh install of Windows 10 (22H2 fully updated) on my laptop and want to keep it as lightweight as possible so I thought it would be a good time to put this software to use finally. I am attempting to only install the graphics driver and HD audio driver. My graphics card is a Geforce GT 720M. The installer detects that the best compatible driver is version 391.35-notebook-win10-64bit-international-whql. I am presented with the following error when trying to use NVCleanstall. The error persists even after using DDU to remove the drivers installed by Windows. Please help, I really want to take advantage of this great software. Thanks!

Do you really think that I have not already tried the normal troubleshooting methods before posting here? I have attempted to install the graphics driver with NVCleanstall several times and been given the same error every time. There is no issue with my internet connection.

I had a similar incident recently where i downloaded the nvidia driver first, a older one from guru3d, then tried to put it thru the cleanstall and it would error out everytime. So i had to use cleanstall to go to nvidia to download the file i wanted and just did the express install and it finally went thru fine. Now, i will say that it may not be anybodys fault here but me cause i do have my machine pretty locked down, o&o shutup, services shutdown, firewall exceptions and lockouts, etc... and it happened after shutting down o&o and turning on some services still so im not sure what combo of things it didnt like, but i cant unequivocally say itt was cleanstall.

Can you load http://gpu.me in your browser on the machine?
Hi there, thanks for your reply - yes I can load that site in my browser. It says this domains hosts API services for NVCleanstall.
I did manage to find a work around for my issue.
To get it to work, I manually downloaded the compatible driver package for my machine (391.35-notebook-win10-64bit-international-whql) from the Nvidia website, then within NVCleanstall I selected the options 'Use driver files on disk' and pointed it to the driver that I downloaded. From there the installation proceeded as expected and I was able to install just the base graphics driver and HD audio driver as desired.
Very strange issue, but nonetheless, it has been resolved.
Would like to thank everyone again for their replies.

Good workaround .. still strange that you had issues downloading the file. Did you try the whole just once or several times? Not sure if the "retry" button works correctly in this scenario

Unsure what you mean by 'whole' in this context sorry. I did attempt to use the 'retry' button when I was iniatlly having issues, but to no avail. It would return the same error.

"whole" == "restart NVCleanstall, so it starts the download from the beginning"

Thanks for clarifying. I'll see if I can reproduce the problem

Oh yes, I retried several times. Rebooted and power cycled both my laptop and modem/router. I even went as far as re-installing Windows 10 again for a second time, as I had installed a single language version of Win10 originally and also thought that some of the services I had already disabled might be interfering and casuing the error to occur.
Alas, this was not the case, as the issues persisted even after the reinstall.

It seems the NVCleanstall installer just had issues fetching the compatible driver package for my system automatically. Once I downloaded it manually and the files were already present on the system, it worked with no issues.

Hi,
Seems like some permissions issues going on

Best practice
After downloading nvclean or really any third party app
Right click the downloaded file exe or zip folder and select properties.
Check the Unblock box and apply/ okay.

Then install or extract all.
The app should act properly now.
Unless you have win-11 VM security features activated that is hehe

NVCleanstall works perfectly fine without "unblock" and there is nothing that installs or extracts, please don't give generic advice like that

"HTTP request timed out" has nothing to do with that

Hi,
Trusted apps I unblock bottom line
Stating it won't help on win-10 or 11 with third party apps well I'll disagree it's not best to do.

That's not what I said, this is not a general "third party apps" discussion thread

Hi,
lol yeah but your app is third party
Plus you don't know which security apps the op has and is using.

Not sure why you object to my original statement it is a good trouble shooting tip.
Peace out.
