There are actually video cards non UEFI? My mb (Intel DX79TO) does not support UEFI, and my video card is starting to inform that is going to die.

This is a tricky subject because Ideally it was down to the vendor to provide a legacy bios for graphics cards. other than some tried and tested models like some of AMD 5xx series and Nvidia GTX10 series. Anything beyond those is not guaranteed afaik.

I believe that motherboard might have some basic uefi compatibly, there should be an option in the bios at least according to this obscure unrelated post from 2020

Also as far as I remember, the only issue you should face is not being able to see the post/boot process, it will show a blank screen though should display upon the windows login screen, it's been a while since I've had to look into uefi issues so i may be off the mark

Also list your system specs, what is the GPU?

GPUs that don't work with a non-UEFI platform are the exception rather than the norm. Most of the time, it's AMD GPUs with buggy VBIOS implementations. These includes some of AMD's most popular cards that people with old computers tend to look at, such as some of their midrange Polaris cards.

Every Nvidia card i've ever had works on old motherboards, and conversely, even very old cards work on modern motherboards. I've tested my old RTX 3090 on a Gigabyte G41 that has an Award BIOS that still counts memory in KB (G41MT-ES2L) and it worked. Conversely I've run my G80 Quadro FX 5600 (basically a 8800 GTX) correctly on both my old Ryzen 5950X and current i9-13900KS build. I can't say I've tried my RTX 4080 yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it still worked.

Considered it's a X79, why not get an RTX 2080 Super? They're going relatively cheap on the used market right now and should perform well with any CPU for that chipset.

That's probably a hit or miss thing, rather than something broadly applicable. My RX 570 worked fine on my AM2+ board.

Thank you all for the comments and orientations.
Mostly because in another forum someone states that all actuall v cards are only UEFI compatible.

My specs are: MB Intel DX79TO, i7-3820 3700, 8Gb DDR3, 2x PCie X16, with an old GeForce 210 (2012).

I´ve tried a RTX 3050 without sucess. I've returned it to the vendor.
The boot goes to the post process and stops at setup page (blocked).
The mb shows the error code E6 (Started connecting drivers).

My problem now is selecting a video card with some odds of sucess.

I was able to install a Gigabyte GT1030 DDR5 in a 2005 non-UEFI board without a single problem. I can enter the BIOS and the system boots normally. Perhaps it might work for you?

I tried a GTX 580 Matrix Platinum on my Strix XE once.. UEFI went into safe mode to accomodate the old card lol, it went to a 640x480 display iirc. But before the system fired up, it revved all three GPU fans to max three times before it posted. The oldest system that I have right now is a DDR2 Rampage Formula board, but I really do not want to plug one of my new GPUs into it :)

Consider updating your system.

An 11 year old high end system has some reasonable chance of general failure at any point.

Your motherboard may die, your PSU may die etc.

Radeon VII has a pure legacy BIOS available, GTX 10 series should be largely compatible, maybe a 1080 Ti?

It's probably just CSM launching because Fermi doesn't have UEFI support. Earliest cards were Kepler.

I had an X79 system and the last GPU i had on it was a GTX1070. A 1080Ti will run pretty well if you can get one in good condition on the second hard market. Like I said previously. Anything above 10 series (Nvidia) or 5xx series (AMD) is not guaranteed to work. Highly likely it wont work as the vendors stopped shipping cards with legacy bioses after that.

Its really RNG if it works or not. Ive read somewhere that a guy managed to get a 2060 working on an older machine but that was with a zotac card and they werent clear which model or platform they were running on. Not all vendors ship with legacy bioses.

I just don't think buying a 1080 Ti used (seven year old high wattage card), is smart.

At least a RTX 20xx so you can make use of DLSS etc.

The reality is that unless you're willing to buy old/used, and run all the risks associated with that (hardware failures like you've had already), the obvious thing is to build a new system on a modern platform, with no limitations on what hardware you can use.

A $100 CPU is 2-3x faster than your X79 platform.

Thank you all for the suggestions!! I'm studing how is the best way of upgrading my system, not investing too much for now. But it's definittily true that my all system may die, there is a real chance of general failure because it's 12 years old.
Therefore I had just buy a videocard GT1030 wich is sufficient until the total upgrade, I'm not confortable at all buying an used videocard.
