official AMD store anyway. $499 reference cooler.

not really a hot deal per say, but its been sold out on AMD's website since launch, so I guess it is kind of a hot deal in that sense.
I don't know how the reference cooler on 7800xt compares to 6700xt but 6700xt cooling was terrible.
I usually buy whatever is cheaper and reference usually is but when I got the 7800xt paid little extra because 6700xt ran super hot and loud didn't feel like dealing with that.

i owned reference 6800 before and i thought the cooling was great on it, and I liked the innovative way it did the graphene instead of paste

Which kinda proves my point that they committed to artifical deficite. Restocks of 7800 XT happen very, very rarely compared to most other GPUs.

I mean you don't know TSMC's schedule production and the forecasting of sells... I am not saying you are wrong, but I would need more data to agree with you.

The MBA 7800XT cooler doesn't compare very well against the AIBs, I must say.

I agree, but some people have a weird thing for reference editions. I remember old Nvidia references running hot, but people loved them haha i miss those old blower style Nvidia reference designs.

Kepler/Maxwell/Pascal reference industrial design was sexy af.
I still think the GTX690 and Titan Z are some of the best looking cards ever.

Well, I have some UNVERIFIED info from my friend who works in some Russian retailer. According to him, they sold more 7700 XTs than they sold 7800 XTs only because they had 40 (!) times less 7800 XTs in stock from the start.

still shows in stock for me, I see the add to cart button active anyway

Same although this should be the last choice for most people unless it is the only card that fits in your case.

yeah if I were looking at midrange I would get the Sapphire or XFX personally. I love my XFX 7900 XT, thing is built insanely well.

The MBA 7800XT cooler doesn't compare very well against the AIBs, I must say.

Consequence of adhering to a physical size that actually fits into the majority of cases that exist. The AIB cards are 20-30% larger; 12-13 inches long, three slots wide, an inch taller. Makes sense that they'd be better on cooling.
