Hello,

I have done the below on a system with a MSI Z490 Gaming Plus with latest BIOS available ( 7C75vA6 - 2021-02-04 ) which gives option to enable Resizable Bar support. I have ENABLED it in Bios with those 2 options for it:

"Settings > Advanced > PCI Subsystem Settings", enable "Re-size BAR" and "Above 4G memory/Crypto Currency mining", press "F10", to save the settings and reboot.

In Windows 10 it stated Resizable Bar is DISABLED. UEFI bios was used (with CSM disabled). I have retested disabling and enabling this but again Windows always stated Resizable BAR is not enabled (checked via GPUZ / NVIDIA control panel /device manager ).

I was able to resolve this issue by upgrading the vBIOS (video bios) of the GPU (rtx 3070), after reading this from NVIDIA site (techpowerup news also points to this link but I hadn't read properly):

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/geforce-rtx-30-series-resizable-bar-support/
"5. If you have a GeForce RTX 3060, you’re good to go. If you have a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, 3070, 3080, or 3090, then you may require an updated VBIOS"

And then the detail of their tool to upgrade the vBIOS and each partner tool:
https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5165

Since the system had a MSI RTX 3070 I've used MSI dragon center (RUN in Administrator Mode), latest version Dragon Center_2.0.106.0 launched 30-03-2021, which had a VGA BIOS version (under live update advanced scan) and followed instructions, just make sure to close ALL PROGRAMS and disable ANTIVIRUS first. The upgrade of vBIOS flashed the screen and took about 30 seconds and after that a final press of key and system reboot and ReSizable Bar enabled now.

I have taken some screenshots in sequence for reference of others:

Update through msi dragon center

It was launched a CMD line with NVIDIA firmware update:

System reboot after finishing and Resizable Bar now enabled:

I checked RDR2 and Metro Exodus benchmarks before and after enabled and I got on average more 1-2 fps (1920x1080), and minimum fps was around more 5 fps than with ReBar disabled so it seems better overall.

HOWEVER I honestly don't recommend a casual PC user to go through all this just for around 1%-3% fps increase on the limited amount of games where you should see this, according to NVIDIA site currently this will only be somewhat noticeable on less than 20 games.

HF and GL!
