As the title says.

Because today I was seeing these ridiculous prices of the GTX1080 Founders Edition in my country :wtf::shadedshu::
gtx1080prices.JPG

I wonder what the GTX1070 non-reference will cost in my country....:shadedshu:

Or should I buy a GTX980Ti? Which I can buy at 550 Euros at the moment (they have 6 left):

Last year when the MSI GTX980Ti came out in my country they cost just over 800 Euros,
so yeah sure the GTX1070 will below that, but if the GTX1070 non-reference MSI or Asus will cost 550/600 Euros and seeing the price of this GTX980Ti at 550Euros now :(

For how much would a GTX1070 be better than a GTX980Ti?
Your thoughts?

I play at 1080p by the way.
I will use a 21" tv as second monitor but game on 1 monitor.

We live in the same country :)

I'm buying a 980ti second hand whenever the price drops below 450 EUR. And I've already seen several on offer for 450 eur but they were abit older, like +10months. When 1080 AIB's have landed, rest assured the price will drop towards 400.

980ti will be running circles around 1070 let's not delude ourselves by marketing.

Premature thread is premature... need results first bub... put it back in your pants until the 1070 is benchmarked June 10th.

The thing is they only have 6 MSI GTX980Ti's left in stock...

I mean honestly, you cannot go wrong with either. My GUESS is that the 1070 is going to be close to if not slightly above 980 Ti performance. But that is just a guess. You really need to hold off if you are seriously considering a 1070 until you see some official benchmarks.

980ti will be running circles around 1070 let's not delude ourselves by marketing.
I have to disagree with this... that is, unless there is a 1070Ti SKU later. If that was true, there would be around a 25% gap between the 1080 and 1070. That gap is HUGE and typically found in 980 to 980Ti type of situations (upper midrange to flagship).

I thought they already stopped making Maxwell GPU's?

They might source stock from other retailers. Its not that uncommon as a practise

I thought they already stopped making Maxwell GPU's?

They only stopped production of 970 and 980 once release dates were set for their replacements. Everything else that does not have a replacement in the near-future is still in production.

For the record, my advice is wait. That way you'll be buying new tech, with a fairly long driver support period.

Yet all the available numbers point to the opposite. VRAM/bandwidth on the 1070 can't hold a candle to the 980ti, nor the number of shaders. The only thing that 1070 has going for it is a higher base clock. (And there is more than enough wiggle room for a 1070ti as well)

I disagree again.

They are both 256bit... and the difference with stock clock speeds puts bandwidth at 5% less for the 1070. With a faster architecture and better compression algos, that won't affect anything from 2560x1440 on down... the sweetspot for the 980Ti (as 4K is still too much for it - RE: the glass ceiling 256bit puts on things).

I'm pretty sure 980 Ti is 384-bit, with 336.5 GB/s bandwidth? Or am I thinking of another card?

Edit: LOL...in the time it takes me to type, @P4-630 has posted already.

Oops... 384 bit... my fault. My point still remains... look at the bandwidth... 5% difference... 336.5 for the 980ti and 320 for the 1070. This won't make a bit of difference at 2560x1440 on down. Id bet good money says its within 5% of the 980Ti...which would make it 30% slower than the 1080.

Remember the 1080 has less shaders/TMUs/ROPs than the 980ti and it beats it by ~25%...there is more to it than just those counts!!!!!

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Jesus christ... that is what I get for relying on my caffeine less mind!!!

I still believe its going to be in the ballpark. Again. 256bit means nothing at lower resolutions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its not all about the specs on paper... again, better memory compression algo's, and architectural efficiency will put it close to the 980Ti. I do not believe the 980Ti will "run circles" around the 1070 - whatever non quantative value 'run circles' means...

That'll learn you to go without coffee! :D

I agree it's going to be a close race. I think, though that Nvidia's announcement about the 1070 beating Titan-X is going to be exaggeration and will exist only in a specific VR environment and settings (most people failed to notice that little tidbit). It's looking more and more like it will come in just slower than 980Ti.

I look forward to the results either way!
