System Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo QX6850 @ 4.40 GHz (24x7 - 4.00 GHz), Vapochill LS, , 8 GB GSkill DDR2-1000 (4-4-4-4, 2T. 2.25V) cooled by an OCZ DDR cooler with dual 60mm fans, EVGA 780i SLI motherboard, 2 x EVGA 8800GTX SLI @ 670/1000, 2 x WD Raptor 150 hard drive in RAID 0, 1 x WD Raptor 150 for page and temp, a Seagate 500 GB hard drive for data, Enermax Galaxy 1000 Watt PSU, CrystalFontz LCD panel, DVD-RW DL Lightscribe and a Vantec fan controller all mounted in an all black CoolerMaster Stacker 830 Evolution NVIDIA edition driving a Dell 3007FPW-HC.
Performed Mods:
The case is a CM Stacker 830 NVIDIA edition, so it had green sides and top which I pulled and had anodized black. All the fan cables were sleeved in black mesh. I drilled a couple of holes on theVapo chill unit to reroute the tubing to mount the Vapochill unit to the CM Stacker case with no mods to that. Then, I just worked on cleaning up the cabling. The CrystalFontz LCD lets you monitor system utilization realtime or any item you wish. It is completely customizable. The side fans were kept in place, but the tray required some rework to fit with a dremel. It makes for decent airflow to keep the 8800GTX cards cooler by about 8C under load. I also rebuilt each of the video cards, replacing the stock thermal pads with a better version and using AS5 on the core. The cards operate cooler by about 5C.
3DMark06 is 21K for bench settings. At 2560x1600, it still scores 13K with stock clocks in HD gaming mode!
For an older test, it gets 82K in 3Dmark03 and 220K in AM3.

I Love It 10
I need a drool cup. DAMN!!!!! Thats one awesome system. 12/10 for the componets ALONE.
To me I think the object of this game is to try and spend the least amount of money as possible for the highest performance system. Just maxing everything out is....ugh, I hate rich people :-| But you can have a 10....
jesus, any benchmarks?
Fastest consumer-level system on the planet?
I gave a 8 because
A) No mods
B) Only 2gb of ram. If you can afford SLI 8800GTX, get another 2gb.

I sure can't for the life of me figure out why someone would give you a 1, fertilizer for brains i guess. 8/10 from me. Although i would have used water to cool that CPU. No biggie though. My girlfriend is getting me that exact same mobo for X-mas, WOOHOO!! And with the step-up from evga I'm going to follow your footsteps, only with GTS's not GTX's. PM me and tell me more about that mobo. Very, very nice by the way. Mods or no mods.
What an awesome girlfriend!! MOBO's for christmas presents!!
by: Casheti;190114Yea, she's a peach!!

Ima give 9/10 because your rich and should have gotten the QX6700
by: InfDamarvel;190141Well, QX6700 is on order. It was not available yet. And, 4 GB of RAM will not help in XP. With all the reserved addressing in memory, you only net about 2.5 GB. Once Vista launches, however, that all changes.
Ima give 9/10 because your rich and should have gotten the QX6700
And, the DangerDen blocks for the cards are the next step. Watercooling will have to wait for the GPU blocks. So, air for now.
The cost of the system is really not that much. The cards were only a $300 bump from the old cards I sold. If you bought it all at once, I suppose it would be rather expensive. I decided this time around to simply jump in and get the right items. I have been sitting on the C2D processor for some time. I was going to get the 590 SLI board, but, that was a dud. When the 680i was released, it was greeted with a "finally". So, the parts were built up over the past few months aside from the video cards and the motherboard which released at the same time.
Beutifull case jaja equal to the mine, What the number in the 3DMark05 in video? this machine should be 33000 more or mines... the beutifull all PC, Gratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
amazing....
Damn nice job ! Bada$$ PC
10/10 from me. I like people with style. ;)
not bad but its nothing special. my shitty computer has more work put into it. give it some style! 7/10
I can't believe you guys are calling him names because he because a cool system.
by: DaMulta;190248Yeah cool system but no mods or what so ever. Anyone can buy such a system if you have the cash for it. But i also like it and i give a 9.
I can't believe you guys are calling him names because he because a cool system.
i cant understand where u find sooo much many t buy 2!! 8800gtx oh god , cant u give some t me :)]
why dont u put blue fans it will look better i think

Go get a job, then you can pay for it.
one amazing system and clean inside, mod? what is there to mod in that case? its sexy as is.
I'm one who dont care for flashy lights though (I find it distracting while computing), I much rather a clean looking system... he has no need for fancy lights on the inside. his mod is making a his case leet, with superb air cooling, nice fan controller, and clean internals. :)

Oh wow ...Very impressive, someone has some deep pockets. I give it a 9.
Well, I figured there would be some comments like "Holy sh** that's a lot of money". I have been on the other side, as well, wondering how they could possibly afford that. But, building this system has been some time in the making. I could have saved a bit of money, but this time around I was going for broke (literally).
Danger Den dual loop watercooling will be going in later. One loop for the CPU and one for the GPUs. The CPU will be TEC cooled, as well. But, that's about as far as I go with the mods. I may do a couple of other items, but I like no labels, clean wiring and a simple no nonsense look. It kind of has a cold look to it without a any LED light or cathodes, but, to be honest, I prefer a more subdued approach. And, as always, no two people's tastes are the same.
As for the expense, I have been wanting to build a good system when the next technology step arrived, so I have been putting away money for this since the beginning of the year. But, it is still much cheaper than any brand name with a similar configuration. $1250 on the video cards, $1300 on the 30 inch LCD monitor, $300 for the PSU, $250 for the motherboard, $750 for the CPU, $250 for the RAM, $130 for the case, $150 for the two 250GB SATA drives, $30 for the DVD-RW Lightscribe, and some other miscellaneous parts. So, about $4500 for everything. Compare that to the $6500 for a system without a monitor elsewhere.
As for the benchmark results:
3DMark06 - 16K or so at HQ settings, 11K at 2560x1600
3Dmark05 - 24K or so
3DMark03 - 60K or so
AM3 - 200K (with a single card - two actually slow things down with CPU overhead to about 190K)
CoH at 2560x1600 with all options turned up to max is 248 fps peak, 112 average and dips to 32 fps for a low.

.....TEC coolers on the cpu, man I wanna do that =(...Which tec cooler your gonna go for?
Gonna do any overclocking? Could reach 30k 05 scores and 25k 06 scores with your system ez I bet.

by: HeavyH20;190387That's the way to do. At least now your set for at leasst 2 years. lol TEC huh. Always been afraid of those. Condensation and all. I hear if they are done right they are fantastic.

I just got my 2 8800 gtx yesterday.
by: wazzledoozle;190103Are u kidding?
Fastest consumer-level system on the planet?
He has his CPU @ 3.7Ghz, when u could have it at 4.5Ghz.
He has his GPU's @ 650Mhz, when u could have them at 700Mhz+.
He scores ~16,000. Fastest known rig on the planet does ~26,000.
once he gets tec (better cooling) he has potential to be one of the fastest :P
by: Chewy;190518Well, the components are the fastest available. It's just what you do with them. Now, if you are like Kingpin who was sponsored with few grand worth of LN2 by NVIDIA to break a WR (23,000 in 06 !! ), then that's fine. He also used a quad core and some volt modded cards. I am more interested in systems that can run the bench result over and over as well as game at that very same setting. Those suicide runs are not common, that's for sure. They are great publicity, but offer little else for the "normal" user. So, air cooled, the CPU does do 4.0 Ghz (tested that), but I am still an Intel OC newb for now. Been too long on the AMD side of the fence, so it will take a week or so to get comfortable with OCing this thing.
once he gets tec (better cooling) he has potential to be one of the fastest :P
Best 24/7 usable systems are more like 17K max with a quad core. And, 900 points of the score are due to the CPU. So, the system is working as expected. Some of the really good OC crowd will get theirs to the 18K range with some good phase cooling.
nice rig. so are you going to see what you get in ScienceMark 2.0 Benchmark Test i would like to see that
He has all the right parts minus the cooling to have the fastest system on the planet. O_o King Pin is the one who currently holds 3dmark05 and 06 records but he accompished these recoreds with close to 5ghz overclock with liquid nitrogen.
10/10
very nice system!!!!, i wish i had one :D
very nice system!!!!, i wish i had one :D
Is there anywhere you can actually get hold of LN2?
VERY nice, "the dogs bollocks" as we say over here. I consider myself pretty well off but with me and several costly hobbies (cars, travelling the world and 2 daughters!) it's about justifying the spend, so really I am not bothered about the best just whats fulfills my needs without having to copromise, for Heavy thats this system and IMO it's should be admired!
by: DaMulta;190248Look, if he got waterblocks id give it appraisal, but its all stock!!!

Which sucker gave you a 1/10??? Can that not be traced back and could he not be shot @ dawn? lol
by: tkpenalty;191073Yup, watercooling is next. Since the GPU waterblocks are not available, yet, I held off on the system. It will be all watercooled soon, but, that is simple assembly as well.
Look, if he got waterblocks id give it appraisal, but its all stock!!!

ive just realised all ur pc/mods are bloody highend and awesome only non highend but mid is the small one which u purposly made less powerful :D
by: EviLZeD;192984Yep. Building these things is my hobby. The Minnie Me PC is now this year's gift to my Sister-in-law. Trying to improve things in the family one PC at a time.
ive just realised all ur pc/mods are bloody highend and awesome only non highend but mid is the small one which u purposly made less powerful :D
I hope to improve the "mod" factor a tad. Hmm. I like the Coolermaster color scheme they used on the demo PC's for the launch. Wonder how hard it would be to take apart this case and get it painted. Talked to CoolerMaster, and the door is available. Just need some logos and CM sticker, and it should be easy to imitate. Add some good watercooling, and it should work out nicely.
Just checked on the QX6700 status, and it looks like mid December to arrive as the estimate. Hope it comes sooner, however. I really want to try one of those CPUs out.
How exactly do you have so much money?
get it while its hawt! well it looks like they are somewhat sold but. http://www.us.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=20958&nocookie=1&membership=0
 wow...
hehe i wish i could make this my hobbie lol i got college in my way and not much money lol

Thanks for the link. Ordered it just now. Interesting, had to use PayPal to pay. They do not take US credit cards any longer. So, should be here next week. $100 more than the other vendor, but at least they have them on hand. :-)
As for the money, well, graduated college 16 years ago. I now make a decent income so that these toys don't hurt so much to purchase.
EDIT: NCIX over sold and canceled the order. No problem, however, since the other one I ordered is coming through and will be delivered on Nov 28!
thers an example of someone who done well in education^^ :D thats wat u get for going school (and college etc)
hehe :D
hehe :D
Yo, gave u a 9 cos 10 says 'Unique' and seein as no mods its not gonna be too unique... Still...
Any details on how much the whole thing costs?
Awseome Futuremark scores!!! I'm just starting to build my system up - check out my initial specs and future modding in the BEEF IT UP thread.
You can tell this guy's rich by the incredibly clean carpet in one of the pics - he clearly has a cleaner/maid!!!

Hey Dude since this is your 5th entry can I have 1 of your other PCs ... lol ... anyway gave you a 10. Incredible Specs. is there anyway you can post video on this forum ???
looks good...hard not to hava a rocken rig when using top end stuff....but i must say that it lacks any "modding" needs something to make it dif. just looks like you plugged in a bunch of high end product.....7/10 from me b/c having top product just isnt enough...tho it does look clean it still lacks a personal touch...7/10

by: Casheti;195410Yup. Work in progress. I am spending my time on the OC side of the fence. I would rather invest the effort to get a waterchiller in place rather than paint a case. But, as before, to each their own. Some like a silver Infiniti and some like a tricked out chopper (like the S3 mod - wow). Silver Infiniti for me.
Well said...
And, on the OC front, QX6700 and a waterchiller arrive this week. Waterblocks for the 8800GTX cards are still hard to come by.
I think the S3 mod represents the pinnacle of what you can do with a system and is more than the sum of its parts. The PC specs for that mod are average, but they are simply there to put the PC part to the mod. Sort of a 180 on my system. But, on the mod front, I have an extra CM Stacker 830 that I will be modding to use as a home for all these parts. I want to keep it clean and a tad subdued, but still have an original look to it. Working on a color scheme...
How are you finding your Freezone Cooler?
Freezone cooler looks really nice, just seems to suck in quiet mode when cooling. If there could be a replacement quieter fan brought for that thing and ran at high all the time with low temps that would be one seriously perfect tec cooler...or close to it.
by: InfDamarvel;200245You need a 92 to 120 converter then you can use a single 120 mm fan. And, I do not power the fan from the power board. Instead, I use a fan controller to set it where I feel. The stock fan was quite noisy. It is also very deep, much like a commercial PanaFlo fan.

ohh i see you got it updated it looks so nice you really did well on the cabling it looks so neat and powerful the watercooling looks really good too
im guessing you play all your games at really high settings with super hd resolutions

by: EviLZeD;201366Thanks. I was going for neat and tidy instead of the "bling" mode. I just painted the green side screens black. Gaming is always at 2560 x 1600 if possible. 4xAA and 16xAF help things look even better!

Do you have a HDCP monitor? For HD-DVD or Blueray movies, you could go to walmart and buy a HD-DVD player for Xbox 360 for 200 bucks and mod it in the case if you didn't want it to be external.
(Not sure if you need a HDCP display for that player)
Just throwing a bone out there to make it a complete and even more of a fantastic machine.

i would love to come and chill at your house for a few days and lan it, even i'm using one of your "non-primary" machines!
sheesh!
sheesh!
As i already told heavy his beast is a lot like the one i will be building for myself. I give you a 10 for power, simplicity, and clean wiring job. This is a price piece of machinery I hope you're as happy with your machine as much as i want to emulate it.

No, I have that mag, and it states the opposite. Re-read the article. If you're talking small increases in MHz, then maybe. But 1000MHz CAS 5 crushes 800 MHZ CAS anything. Hell, my ram running at 960 5-5-5-15 performs on an entirely different level than 800 4-4-4-10.
Some answers ( I hope)
The Dell 3007 is HDCP compliant (as I understand), but, I would rather watch HDTV on the 55 inch. I just use this monitor for PC mode only.
LAN parties work out nicely :) I move one of the 8800 GTX cards in place, and I have three nicely configured systems with 8800 series cards and 2 GB of RAM. No one complains.
This PC is the best system I have ever used. To date, I have never seen good performance at 2560x1600 resolutions. QUAD SLI does not come close. If you can get these or similar components, I highly recommend it.
Value wise, it is not created for "Bang for Buck". That is the domain of the second PC. It is an E6600 with a single 8800GTS with a EVGA 680i and 2 GB of DDR2-800. That system can do about 11K in 3Dmark06 with a little tweaking. It represents the "Bang for Buck" category.
I have run some tests, and low latency (DDR2-800, CAS 4, 1T) improves bench scores a tad over high speed, high latency (DDR2-1066, CAS 5, 2T). But, get into something that is reliant on memory bandwidth instead of latency, the the DDR2-1000 is a better deal.

wow i must say this is a nice one...i can only imagine what it can do...and i thought my rig was good!
Why don't you post your sm2.0 scores in the relevent thread? You would be in line for 1st w/ all your hardware!
by: Alcpone;222486I will download and test. But, I doubt it will be the best since most benchamrks are not capable of working a quad core (or dual, for that matter). I will likely get a similar score to a regular Conroe with lower FSB and 3.6 GHz. I will post up the results.
Why don't you post your sm2.0 scores in the relevent thread? You would be in line for 1st w/ all your hardware!
omg fucking rich (10/10)
HeavyH2O,
I am building out an overclocked workhorse development machine (no gaming, just compiling) and would like to get some feedback on the Freezone unit that you are using. I was considering the Zalman 9700 until I read your post.
I am looking at the XCLIO A380 case that uses 2 - 25CM fans (high volume, low speed, low noise).

The side fan looks like it might interfere with the pump on the Freezone. The pump on the Freezone also looks like it interferes with the airflow through the front of the heat sink. From your experience with the Freezone, does it look like the pump could be moved away from the front of the heat sink and remove the side plate that blocks the airflow from the side fans ? The XCLIO case is large and has plenty of room to relocate the pump.
Also, did the 92mm-to-120mm adaptor plate come with the Freezone or did you get it elsewhere?
Thanks,
Tim

I am building out an overclocked workhorse development machine (no gaming, just compiling) and would like to get some feedback on the Freezone unit that you are using. I was considering the Zalman 9700 until I read your post.
I am looking at the XCLIO A380 case that uses 2 - 25CM fans (high volume, low speed, low noise).

Wow, I am seriously jealous! Nice comp, clean setup, but yet next gen. 10+/10

If I was one ounce more envious I'd track you down and burn down your house.

by: workhorse;226773The side fan will likely interfere with a the Freezone version, but, there is a more compact unit called the Eliminator. If you are not going to OC, this unit should be more than enough and the MSRP is only $199. And, since it is smaller, it may fit with the side fan.

There is a 92 to 120 mm adaptor with the units, but they are more to mount the unit to a 120 mm opening. I took off the 92 mm fan, used an adapter and put a 120 mm fan in place.
As for the other items, a dedicated SATA RAID controller will liley do better than the built in versions. The reads are decent but writes to the onboard RAID are dismal on any chipset. I am not familiar with the Areca unit, but a dedicated controller is a very wise move.
As for the 24 inch LCD's, if you are looking at a Vista ready card that can handle the 24 inch monitors, the 7600GS will work fine. You can get the 3DFuzion ones for about $90 each and then put a couple in place with the NV Silencer (NV silencer 6 rev 2, I believe)to keep the ambient temps in the case lower. They also have single dual link DVI if you ever go larger on the monitor. And, they work fine with Vista.
And, thank guys for the compliments. I just wanted to build a solid PC I could use for some time to come!
And, for those who commented that it was simply a bunch of high end parts put together. Mostly. But, the fans extensions and fan cables were all sleaved and heat shrunk. The Coolit was modified with a 120 mm fan and adapter. The green sides were pulled, stripped and anodized black. The blue fans were removed and quieter, high flowing 120 mm versions were put in place. The side fan cage was modified to clear the Coolit with a dremel. Personally, I limit myself to modifications that enhance function.
very nice system 10/10

fcking rich ass =/
LOL you wish you had his money
well i have the money to get a pc liker that no pobs. & im getting somthing simular to it just be4 crysis comes out. But one thing i dont have enought mulla for is a CRF450, very nice.
Hmmm, not bad mate.. 7/10 from me.
Now on to what i wanted to say. I am still impressed with your wiring job. The heat shrinking and your use of spaces deffinitely needs to be noted. I also noticed that you added an OCZ memory fan to your set-up. How much did that help boost your performance?
OMG I think I just dribbled. Jealousy is an evil mistress. 10/10

Thanks again.
The OCZ cooler helps keep the memory temps much lower. So, I can now put a little extra voltage on the memory. I have to push it a little harder, but I now run CAS4 at 1000 MHz on the memory. But, that is still 2T. 885 CAS4 with 1T is now stable, as well.
I posted the Intel core test screenie in the thread!

Well since you are looking to cool the memory why not liquid cool it? I know OCZ came out with new 800mhz memory (was posted in the news section a few days ago) that has water cooling blocks built in. Not to mention the 8800GTX Black Pearls just came out for online retail. Is there a possibility that you will be fully "liquifying" your PC and only using air too cool the HDD's and remove hot air through the top?
wow, really nice job. i have to say that most people would have screwed that system up, considering all the high end parts and what not. but you managed to put it all together like a pro. 10/10
btw, where did you get that front display?? i want one.
edit: nevermind i found their site. nice!

Voted 10 for awesome. I just got a CrystalFontz just like yours lol
and they say money can't buy happiness
Well to HeavyH2O and Willyman my hat is off to the both of you. I'm waiting on the Penryn's for my system and i'm gonna OC. If either of you are going to buy crysis let me know we'll kick some ass together.
That is one amazing gaming pc, I wish I could afford even a 880gts. Anyway 9/10 .

awesome rig man i'll give it a 10.
That is one clean looking rig man. Well done. 9/10 Only because the vcards have stock coolers on em.... Not paying you out though, its a really nice machine bro. Can you post some 3dmark benchies....

Been away for a bit. The benchmark numbers are described up top. 21K in 06, 26K in 05, 73k on 03, and 82k in 01. AM3 is OK at 218k.
Just out of raw curriosity why did you go with the CM stacker?
If you were going to go phase change lian-li/silverstone cases are a lot more condusive to extreme cooling methods and modding the crap out of them.
Other then tnat nice stuff.

Haven't looked at your machine in a while, so I updated my score. 10/10. Amazing wiring, components, phase, and a very clean and understated look. Absolutely perfect in my eyes.
by: HeavyH20;313225man that is only 15k more than me in 05... Oh wait a minute, thats heaps huh!!!! :D

Man that shit is wicked, would love to crank up some bf on that, it would be smoooooooth.
Another thing... howcome your 05 and 06 scores are so close?? shouldnt your 05 be around the 40k mark?? theoretically........
Umm can you adopt me so i can play crysis on that machine when it hits the stores?
10/10 due to sheer power!
Holy shit seriously
its god da** beautiful...Makes me wanna cry :(
Haha Tater, it's a poser rig, and that makes me wanna cry.
by: newconroer;390619Nah, Heavy's no poser. He's a nice guy. He built this up in stages, slowly upgrading everything as he went along.
Haha Tater, it's a poser rig, and that makes me wanna cry.
No, let's not take this the wrong way. Heavy could be or could not be legit about anything regarding computers or...well anything.
What I mean is, THAT rig, the way it's setup, is like a poser rig. From what we can see, it's an SLI GTX system, with a phase unit, and well that's about all that stands out. Doesn't really come off as 'custom.'
However, there's tons of little things he could have done, that we do not know about, which make it 'legit.'
It looks like some rich dude went out and threw some typical expensive parts in it. Hence the 'poser.' That doesn't mean Heavy's THE poser, or A poser, it just means that's how the system comes off, hence I wouldn't rate it as high.
And holy hell I just repeated myself.

by: newconroer;390711That's fair enough. I can see how it can come across like that to someone who hasn't seen all the different stages.

This is the only case I gave a ten on
A "poser", huh? Interesting term. :)
Well, being out of high school for over 20 years, I actually had to look up what that term actually meant and I think I found a decent definition.
"The act of trying to be what one is not, trying to relate and blend with a social group. Usually someone who is alone. Being a poser mostly consists of pretending one likes certain things, and one who acts in those one is trying to impress. It is typical for a poser to be disliked."
Well, I think I have been doing this too long to be attempting to " fit in". Besides, if someone was trying to fit in to some type of social group, I would think building PC's would be low on the list of items to try. I am not sure what others build their systems for, but I simply like to try out new hardware. It's just a hobby and all for fun. And, on that front, it has been pretty dry since October. :)
Yes, they are high end parts, but what else would you want to use if you could afford it? I went phase to win a bench contest (a 30 inch Dell LCD). I am not one for fancy paint jobs and the like. I just like a nice clean build which I think all my systems reflect. I was not going to sit by on the sidelines with second best hardware this time around and I am glad I did not. As Ferris so aptly put it, "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

You tell 'em, Heavy.
by: psychotix11;313883I never planned to go phase. And, the other two are CM Stacker 830 cases, as well. I got comfortable working with these cases. More than likely, the phase will move to another project and the Stacker to another. Upwards and onward.

2 x Innovatek 7800/7900 waterblocks.
CPU clocks (Swiftech,Innovatek)
MCP350 pump
Reservoir
240 mm radiator
120 mm radiator
etc, etc.
So, none left right now :-)
lol. It was worth a shot. I wouldn't have turned down the rads or pumps tho. lol
Yea nice led readout clean inside.
But I just built a rig myself...
Q6600 Go oc'd to 3.33ghz
Evga 8800GTX
700W seasonic psu
2GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer 8500/1066
Runs like a hooker on fire!

Technology boy, I am sick of this, your constantly handing out 1s to people in pure jealousy, such immaturity is not whatsoever acceptable here on TPU. Technology_boy, we'll grab a coalition of people to give your case a 1, if you dont cease.
Moreover, you have not posted in our forums whatsoever, I would consider you a spammer. Nevertheless this is up to the Moderators to judge your pitful actions. Yes we all have the right to vote, but it IS classified spamming when you give everybody a 1.
EDIT: Prove it that you had a CM Stacker. The CM Stacker is enourmous, what are you on about. Now im pissed, bashing what you said Technology_boy, you said TWO 8800GTXs, one Ultra is slower than two 8800GTXs. Moreover fix your language up thanks, and facts.

techn0l0gy_b0y you obviously dont read the fourms much cause you dont knonw much about the 8800's, a ultra is an overclocked gtx with a tad bit better cooler.
and hes not water cooling hes phase charge coling,, its ALOT better than water cooling. so your wrong xD.

9 from me m8.
only just found this one so im not sure how the build came along as the earlier post dont match it as is.
anyway....would of been 10 but for 2 things. firstly as others have said, not many mods other than the phase enclosure that i can see and the case, its a personal thing i know but, i dont like the stacker.
top notch choice in parts and damm i wish i had your wallet, you score higher in 3dmark06 at xhd than i do at stock.

by: InnocentCriminal;445255The mods are subtle. I just try to use them to augment a clean build. I like mods that look like they are not. :)

I kept the cards air cooled as WC did not add much to OC headroom since the cards were rebuilt. The thermal pads (FRAG tape) worked much better than stock (cleaner too) and there is AS5 on the GPU. The heatsinks were also lapped so they cooled the GPU a little better with better contact. Idle is now low 50's.
The stock NVIDIA case is black and green, BTW. I pulled off all the green parts, had them stripped and anodized black. The fan tray had to be dremeled to clear the phase components, so another little tweak to clean up the build. The phase unit was modified a little, as well, so I could reroute the head assembly. I had to cut a large hole in the top of the phase and reroute the cooling feeds so I did not have to cut the stock Stacker 832 case, at all. Fans in the phase were also replaced with quieter 90 CFM SilenX 19 db versions.
Those are the only case modifications and the fact that no one notices is exactly what I was looking for ! :)
As for the Stacker, I chose it based on it NOT being square. I was sick of those cases (Lian Li, etc). And, it was very flexible with lots of space to work (Evo versions, that is). Watercooling, phase, whatever you like. I have three system that use this case. Cases are always personal taste, there is never one that everyone will like.
by: GraveFiller;445259Actually, the system is used as 24x7 as the main workstation. Nothing fried, yet. In fact, less risk that water.
Lol, you love that kentucky fried mobo huh?
8800 Ultra's are a waste of money compared to the GTX since they are simply speed binned versions with a little faster DDR3. Two in SLI, and we have a monster. But, I will wait for November and the G92 to upgrade along with the 3.5 GHz Penryn Extreme CPU. November will be an interesting month.
As for the "rich" moniker, I do not consider myself rich. But, I am not twenty something anymore trying to buy a house, car, etc. So, expenses are low and income is much higher. My biggest expense is the $2000 a month in DayCare. Boy, I could really build something better if I had that money back in flow :)
by: techn0l0gy_b0y;445213Well, I just posted it to share the results and add something different to all the air and watercooled systems. You are welcome to post any result you wish as opinions will always vary. No one system will be singularily be appreciated or loathed. Gotta' have a couple of one votes in the mix (already d
