He may not wish to do that, some times lights three colour fans etc can look very tacky.

But I like it very much, very clean and tidy, and some nice components, voted you a 7 matey.

Check mine out too if you get chance =).

Looking at your PC, I reckon you should just buy a new one rather than upgrading. BTX motherboards are rare...

Nah, I was so broke after buying a 50" hd tv and this computer that i can't get a camera lol.. my pop has a great one so i'll bug him til he brings it over..lol.. I wish it was.. It will be soon :D
My cables don't look as good as some of the stuff I see though.. Man how do you guys make it look like you have no cables? lol.. do you cut through your mobos or something? This psu has more cables than, idk, somethign with alot of cables.. oh.. cable tv.. there ya go..:D.. i can't see how i could possibly hide them all like that.. not to mention 4 case fans and the cpu cooler cables, 2 hd's.. idk how it's possible.. they must be cutting holes in it.. but if you do that then whats the other side of your case look like? are there holes on the other side of the cases with cables coming out of them or something? that wont work for me if so..lol.. idk.. but cool none the less.. i'll post mine soon. i've been asking my pop for that camera but he's being lazy on me. i'll have to bug him more.. lol..

I hated building my PC. I cut myself, and ran into several problems lol...but when it goes right it is rewarding and fun.

I still have an odd problem with the LED's on the front flickering :- But let's not discuss that here :P

Nice! I like that!

I've personaly gutted a Dimension 3000 in the past and fully upgraded it with a newer setup. Nothing wrong with that case and it was fairly straight forward as it is basicaly a standard ATX minitower case with dell styling and a logo. It's a very sturdy and decent case which is the reason why I wanted to reuse it again for a new build!

Anyhow, I'll give ya an 8/10 overall on the setup and layout! Nice job!

i think any case in that place would look cool, only because there a so many of them. dell ftl =)

secondly, your post is titled "dell dimension 3000 with core2 duo", that's the reason i thought you were trying to say it's a dell. i would have have understood if it was this. "dell dimension 3000 case with core2 duo"

http://www.lib.utk.edu/news/archives/images/chair.jpg --> link to lots of dells in my school library very cool! (haha, not.)

anyway, i would agree 8/10.

Sick of Dell (and dell propreitary)!

Hey guys I'm new to the forums... And to computer building and mods!

Ok, after opening up my system and getting ready to put my new nvidia 8800 graphics card (and 700w power supply) in my Dell XPS Gen 3 I realized Dell has completely screwed me over. Not only is their motherboard completely proprietary, but so are their pin connectors. At this point I felt completely stupid, which then moved to a huge amount of frustration.

"If I wanted an xbox 360 I would have bought a damn xbox 360!"

Anyway...I have now decided to go ahead and buy a new mother board, keep my ram, and my p4(3.6ghz ht) processor. I was wondering if you guys could give me any recommendations and pointers on what mother board I could buy to fit my processor, and ram... Also any recommendations on a heat sink, cooling, case, ect.... My 3rd party power supply is a 700w power supply(24 pin).
by Ravenas (July 14th - 10:55 PM) - Reply
oh i did my homework, but i had no idea at the times that they made a custom power supply with custom mobo connecters. (the power supply stretched from the bottom to top of my system). not only that, but it is the only power supply they ever created for the system. and yes i can blame them because even if i did do more of my homework, i would still know that dells suck (it would confirm to me that dells suck). but now wal-mart sells dell, must be a reflection of the companies quality. the only postive thing i can say about dell is the fact that they have great customer service for xps users, as well as other dell customers.

on a lighter note, where in tennessee do you live?

Then you didn't do it well enough because every Dell except:
(Dimension B110,1100,2300,2350, 2400,3000, 4600, 4700 and Optiplex 170L)
are highly Proprietary.

These were the exception using a standard mATX form factor case.Dang dont hate on walmart too there not so bad:)

Chattanooga and you?

i live in chattanooga also, just moved back from knoxville.

the problem i have is that you don't make a high dollar gaming system proprietary. the reason a buy pc instead of xbox is because i have the ability to update the system whenever i like (if i have the funds to do so). but i'm not that worried about it. im not saying the computer is a piece of crap, im saying that the company is a piece of crap for designing a computer just to make profit. they probably were hoping i would buy from them again next time i made my purchase..

anyway, only reason i talk crap about walmarts electronics is because i work at best buy.

Yea Walmart doesnt have much of a electronics department but i order everything online anyway.I save paying Tn tax and usually free shiping so best buy are any local store rarely beat online prices.

well if you buy from newegg.com (which usually has the lowest prices) they have a warehouse in tn, which makes us have to pay taxes...sucks.
