AMD Confirms that Instinct MI300X GPU Can Consume 750 W

AMD recently revealed its Instinct MI300X GPU at their Data Center and AI Technology Premiere event on Tuesday (June 15). The keynote presentation did not provide any details about the new accelerator model's power consumption, but that did not stop one tipster - Hoang Anh Phu - from obtaining this information from Team Red's post-event footnotes. A comparative observation was made: "MI300X (192 GB HBM3, OAM Module) TBP is 750 W, compared to last gen, MI250X TBP is only 500-560 W." A leaked Giga Computing roadmap from last month anticipated server-grade GPUs hitting the 700 W mark.

NVIDIA's Hopper H100 took the crown - with its demand for a maximum of 700 W - as the most power-hungry data center enterprise GPU until now. The MI300X's OCP Accelerator Module-based design now surpasses Team Green's flagship with a slightly greater rating. AMD's new "leadership generative AI accelerator" sports 304 CDNA 3 compute units, which is a clear upgrade over the MI250X's 220 (CDNA 2) CUs. Engineers have also introduced new 24G B HBM3 stacks, so the MI300X can be specced with 192 GB of memory (as a maximum), the MI250X is limited to a 128 GB memory capacity with its slower HBM2E stacks. We hope to see sample units producing benchmark results very soon, with the MI300X pitted against H100.

ASUS Republic of Gamers Announces All-New Strix Gold Aura Edition Series

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced the Strix Gold Aura Edition series power supply units (PSUs), which pack the latest ATX 3.0 compatibility, improved cooling, 16-pin PCI Express (PCIe) support and integrated Aura Sync RGB illumination. We built the original Strix 850 W Gold PSU to provide stable, efficient, cool and quiet power to mainstream rigs of all stripes. But technology marches ever onward, and with modern graphics cards driving the new ATX 3.0 standard of power delivery, it's time to take Strix to the next level.

Like its predecessor, the Strix Gold Aura Edition series—available in 750 W, 850 W, 1000 W, and 1200 W variants—stand apart from competing power supplies thanks to a larger heatsink for cool, quiet operation. With twice the volume of traditional PSU heatsinks, this design allows for lower temperatures, longer component lifespan, and longer 0dB operation under light and medium loads. However, with the Strix Gold Aura Edition, we went even further: the entire power supply is now encased in a sleek aluminium chassis that acts as its own heatsink, further reducing temperatures and minimizing noise.

It also comes with a free SFX-ATX bracket that unlocks the limitations between each form factors, giving end-users more freedom and potential builds in the future. The V SFX Platinum are built with Full Bridge LLC design, quiet 92 mm silent fan and 100% Japanese capacitors. By adding PCIe Gen 5 connector, V SFX Platinum can unlock it's true potential and power up all Nvidia RTX 40 series GPU in the future.

ASUS Republic of Gamers Announces ROG Loki Availability

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced the availability of the ROG Loki—the high-performance, high-wattage PSU series in a striking SFX-L form. Packed with large ROG heatsinks for rapid cooling, integrated ARGB lighting to project personal style and axial-tech fans for whisper-quiet operation, the Loki series is pumped and primed to power small-form-factor (SFF) builds.

Large showcase rigs will always be the lifeblood of the PC-building community, but SFF builds have become increasingly popular in recent years. It's easy to see why: for those that want a build that can comfortably fit on a smaller desk, or in an entertainment center for TV gaming, a Mini-ITX machine is the perfect choice. But cramming next-gen power into a tiny case can be a challenge, especially with the added heat those components can produce. ROG's new Loki power supplies were designed to keep efficiency up and footprint down, empowering avid PC DIYers to build no-compromise, console-crushing clones.

Seasonic Rolls Out its First Connect 750W Power Supply

Way back in Computex 2019, Seasonic showed us the Connect, a concept PC power-supply that greatly de-clutters your build's power cabling spaghetti by introducing the Connect device. This is essentially a power connector spinal back-plane that runs along the height of your tower, with shorter cables emerging from it. The company announced the product's market release with a 750-Watt model, the SSR-750FA. The contraption connects to the main unit through fewer, high-gauge cables.

The business-end of the Seasonic Connect SSR-750FA is a slightly modified Prime 750 W, which is just 14 cm long, and has just the high-gauge cable emerging from it, which leads to the Connect module. Under the hood, the Prime 750 W offers single +12V rail design, 80 Plus Gold efficiency, DC to DC switching, most common electrical protection mechanisms, and a 135 mm fluid dynamic bearing fan to keep cool. Downstream connectivity of the SSR-750FA include a 24-pin ATX, two 4+4 pin EPS, four 6+2 pin PCIe power, 8-10 SATA power, and up to three 4-pin Molex. CORSAIR's Upcoming SF750 PSU Leaked by Manual Revision Error

We might need more than the fingers on our hands to count the number of times upcoming products have been inadvertently been leaked by a reseller, and CORSAIR is the latest to have joined this list when not one, but two separate Reddit users shared details of the upcoming SF750 80 Plus Platinum SFX form factor power supply. For those who came in late, CORSAIR began their venture into the SFX form factor for PSUs with the 80 Plus rated SF600 and SF450, at 600 and 450 W respectively, and with a relatively large 92 mm fan that resulted in an efficient, quieter-than-average small form factor PSU. This was followed up by the SF600 and SF450 80 Plus Platinum rated PSUs, and now we have word of the third entry to this series.

CORSAIR, Silverstone, and a few others have been trying to one-up each other in the PSU power density metric, and the leaked SF750 will definitely be among the leaders there. The leak came up via an error in the publication of user manuals, as confirmed by Jon "Jonnyguru" Gerow himself, and the product appears to follow the trend of the series with a zero RPM mode at low loads, and plenty of cable outputs. Interestingly, there appear to be two 8-pin EPS connectors for those wanting to go with an SFF build with an Intel or AMD HEDT platform as well. The SFF market never really got the boom it was promising, so time will tell whether this will be a positive boost or not.
