Alienware revealed today that for the first time, three of its notebook lines the m5550, m9700, and m9750 now have the option of a 64GB solid-state hard drive, giving them the better load times, extra battery life, and absolute shockproofing of flash memory. The 17-inch m9700 and m9750 models are also the first anywhere to ship with the option of dual flash drives in a RAID stripe that offers the same 64GB space but at an even faster speed. Customers can also establish the best of both worlds with a dual-drive configuration that includes a 32GB flash drive for the OS and a 200GB, 7200RPM conventional hard disk for games and other media. Choosing the 64GB RAID will add 1100$ to the normal price of the m9750 while the dual-drive option shall increase the price by another 800$ reaching the incredible amount of 4000$. Dell also offers a similar 32GB solid state drive in its Mobile Precision line of laptops without much of a speed gain.

Alienware Offers Overclocked Quad-Core Desktop PCs

For a limited time only, customers will have the option of choosing overclocked quad-core processor in the Area-51 7500 desktop. Alienware increased the clock rate of the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 from the default level of 2.66GHz to 3.2GHz. This helps ensure even faster and smoother performance when running the latest games and other demanding applications independently or simultaneously. Alienware mounts Q6600

Alienware, a famous computer manufacturer and system integrator, today announced that the Area-51 7500 desktops will be available with Intel's quad-core Q6600 CPUs.

According to senior vice president Brian Joyce, "…customers will instantly see a performance increase on processor-intensive applications such as gaming, video editing and encoding."

In addition to four computing cores in a single processor package, the unique-looking Alienware-branded 7500 also features Windows Vista, NVIDIA Next Generation Graphics, low-latency DDR 2 memory, nForce 6 SLI x16 Motherboard and HDCP ready graphics.

Primarily aimed at gamers and multimedia enthusiasts, the Area-51 7500 costs around £1,408 inc VAT (approx. $2800) and will be available from 6th March from the Alienware website.

Alienware's latest update to the Area-51 power-notebook range gives you the option to equip it with a Core 2 Duo T7600 factory overclocked from 2.33GHz to 2.66GHz, along with quite an impressive line up of features. Part of the newly introduced m5790 special edition range, this notebook can be customised up to the CPU speed above, 2GB DDR2 RAM, a 17" 1920x1200 screen, a 100GB SATA drive at 7,200 RPM, a dual-layer Blu-ray drive, Bluetooth, HD 7.1 sound and ATI X1900 mobility graphics. Those specs will set you back $3,659, although there are other extras you could chose to add. You can also pay more to get an upgrade to Vista, with this notebook being the only 17" model on the market that comes pre-overclocked.
