Framework Previews SD Expansion Card, Selling $199 Core i5-1135G7 Mainboards

Yesterday we pre-announced that we're developing an SD Expansion Card. Normally we don't announce a product until we've fully locked the feature-set, brought up the necessary suppliers and manufacturing environment, completed most of the engineering and a substantial level of testing and validation, and are on a high confidence path to a specific release date at a specific price. This is because development of brand new products requires charting a course into the unknown. We set a target for what the product will be from the start, but as we proceed and learn, we often need to adjust the schedule, scope, and cost, and sometimes even need to outright pause or cancel development. Announcing just before shipping is how most companies operate to reduce churn and public uncertainty, but it means the product development process ends up extremely opaque.

We decided we're going to treat this one product on our roadmap a little differently. A full-size SD Expansion Card is consistently the most requested Expansion Card by the community, which makes it a great one to open up. We're just at the start of the process now, and Hyelim on our Marketing team is creating a new YouTube series to share updates and insights as we go through the New Product Introduction (NPI) process. Take a look at the first video (below) and let us know what you think as we complete (or don't complete) the product.

Cooler Master Shows New X Series PSUs at Computex 2023

Cooler Master has showcased a couple of new PSUs at the Computex 2023, including the X Silent series Max and Edge PSUs, which are "near-silent" and fanless models that should be coming soon. In addition, Cooler Master has come up with some high-quality 12VHPWR 90 degree cables that should be better than standard ones.

The X Series Max is described as "near-silent" since it has a low speed RGB fan in order to support higher wattage, but will keep the noise at 20dB. The X Silent Max will be available in models of up to 1300 W and uses a single-piece heat dissipation structure. The X Series Edge is a whole different beast as this is a completely fanless PSU, that features special airflow-improving extended fan cover, vapor chamber technology, and the same single-piece heat dissipation structure. The X Series Edge will go to up to 750 W. Both of these X Series PSUs are ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.0 compliant, which means they come with 12VHPWR cables, and both support Cooler Master's MasterControl software, allowing users to monitor temperature, current load, and overall performance. Cooler Master also unveiled new 12VHPWR cables, with 90-degree angle that should prevent unnecessary bending, as well as an upgraded connector design with double springs and thicker wire, which should be better than those previous cables and reduce the connector temperatures by 5 degrees.

Cooler Master Unveils New MasterLiquid AiO Coolers at Computex

Cooler Master had plenty to show at the Computex 2023 event, including a pair of new MasterLiquid AiO coolers that should eventually find its way to retail/e-tail shelves, the MasterLiquid 360 Ion and the MasterLiquid 360 Atmos. Cooler Master is also looking into some new markets with its open-loop cooling system concept design.

The MasterLiquid 360 Ion is obviously the star of the show as Cooler Master was proud to display it alongside its X Silent Max PSU, and this one comes with a 2.1-inch LCD screen on the dual-chamber pump that can display pretty much anything. The 360 mm radiator comes with Cooler Master's Mobius 120P ARGB fans, and Cooler Master also included RGB light strip around the pump. The MasterLiquid 360 Atmos is also an interesting upcoming product and while it does not feature an LCD screen, it comes with customizable pump cover that can be 3D printed. It features three SickleFlow Edge ARGB fans that promises exceptional performance and low noise levels. Unfortunately, there is also no word on the availability or the price of the new MasterLiquid AiO coolers. Cooler Master also showcased its open-loop concept cooling components including fittings, radiator, pump, tubes, as well as GPU and CPU water blocks, which could be something that Cooler Master could get into eventually.

Cooler Master Debuts Refreshed MM712 Gaming Mouse Models at Computex

Cooler Master is exhibiting new MM712 gaming mouse variants at Computex 2023 - the two updated offerings come in the form of a high-end "PRO" version and a (potentially) cheaper wired model. The original MM712 was released last autumn (after several delays) to a mostly warm reception, although user feedback did provide Cooler Master with plenty of insights for the development of possible successors. The peripheral design team has addressed a key negative point - the MM712 PRO and Wired models no longer sport primary button overhang - certain users complained about their fingers getting pinched by the original's sharp side pieces. The new model's sensor position has been adjusted to a more central placement according to documentation on hand.

The MM712 PRO looks to offer a significant bump in specifications (over the base model) thanks to it being fitted with Pixart's top PAW 3395 optical sensor. Cooler Master will be catching up with leading brands who already offer high polling rate gaming mice. The MM712 PRO in wired connection mode can operate at 8 kHz, while wireless operation is rated at 4 kHz via an included ultra-fast USB dongle. The spec upgrade has not meant that the model's weight has increased, Cooler Master reps at Computex claim that the PRO remains in the lightweight category - coming in at roughly 56 grams.

Amazon Basics CPU Air Cooler for LGA1700 and AM5 Pictured

There is now an Amazon Basics CPU air cooler that works with Intel Socket LGA1700 and AMD Socket AM5. Called simply the CPU Air Cooler (model: RR-H410-20PC-AS), it features a conventional aluminium fin-stack tower-type design, and uses four copper heatpipes that make direct contact with the CPU at the base. A 92 mm fan ventilates the cooler. This fan is RGB illuminated and includes a controller. The fan turns at speeds ranging between 600 to 2,000 RPM, pushing up to 34.73 CFM of airflow, and features a conventional rifle bearing.

The cooler itself measures 102 mm x 83.4 mm x 136 mm (WxDxH), and Amazon Basics claims that it can handle thermal loads of up to 200 W. Amazon Basics usually brings otherwise obscure white-box brands into the market under its marquee so customers with confidence in the Amazon brand can buy them. In this case, the retail giant roped in no less than Cooler Master as the OEM for this cooler. The cooler itself appears to be a rebadged version of the Hyper H410R RGB, but with updated retention modules to support the latest CPU socket types. Amazon Basics is pricing this at $28.47. Cooler Master Intros MasterMouse MM712 Wireless

Cooler Master introduced the MasterMouse MM712 Wireless, a gaming mouse suitable for all grip and genre types. The mouse offers three kinds of connectivity—wired USB, wireless RF 2.4 GHz, and Bluetooth 5.1. It uses an internal 500 mAh rechargeable battery that soaks charge when using the mouse in the USB mode (or when plugged in to any USB power source). On a full charge, this battery provides up to 180 hours of use in the Bluetooth 5.1 mode, and up to 80 hours in the 2.4 GHz RF mode (probably due to the latter having a higher 1000 Hz polling rate, while BT only offers 125 Hz).

Under the hood, the MM712 packs a PixArt Optical sensor with 19,000 dpi resolution, 400 IPS instruction-rate, and 50 G acceleration. The main two buttons use optical switches rated for 70 million clicks. The mouse measures 116.5 mm x 62.4 mm x 38.3 mm, and weighs 59 g without cable or dongle (but including its internal battery). It comes in two color-based variants—all black, and white+gray. The mice come with Teflon glide surfaces underneath. The MM712 is expected to begin selling from March 16. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Cooler Master Launches Flagship Mobius 120 OC Fan

The Mobius 120 OC carries on the award-winning features that made this case fan series stand out: A ring blade design using interconnecting fan blades for improved structural rigidity and directed airflow. To further reduce vibration, the fan comes with a patented corner-mount design with rubber feet to keep it stable and quiet, while reaching an RPM speed of 3200 ±10%. And, to increase the fan's lifespan and lower noise levels, Cooler Master uses a double ball bearing design. This combination demonstrates the company's commitment to refining every detail for a superior final product.

Cooler Master Shows Off Cooling X, a Unique Prebuilt with Whole-body Liquid Cooling

Cooler Master at the 2023 International CES showed off the Cooling X, a patent-pending unique desktop PC architecture by the company where the liquid cooling of the CPU and GPU isn't confined to a couple of closed loop AIOs, but rather a giant liquid-cooling loop that even involves the side-panels of the case itself, that double up as additional heat-dissipation surfaces. Notice how some compact fanless cases use extruded-aluminium body panels that double up as heatsinks, to cool the hot components? The Cooling X re-imagines this, where instead of dissipating heat from a heatpipe, the extruded-aluminium body panels have coolant channels, so some of the heat from the liquid-cooling loop is dissipated. These panels supplement a conventional liquid-cooling radiator that's located along the rear panel, which has active ventilation. The liquid-cooling loop cools the processor and GPU.

For its compact dimensions of just 266 mm x 149 mm x 371 mm (LxWxH), the Cooling X prebuilt packs some mighty high-end hardware—an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-core processor, and a Radeon RX 6800 XT GPU up to 64 GB of dual-channel DDR4-3200 memory, two 2 TB M.2 NVMe SSDs, and a homebrew 850 W 80 Plus Gold SFX power supply. For now Cooling X is just a codename, and Cooler Master intends to take this concept forward with high-performance gaming/creator prebuilt desktops sold under its own marquee.
