EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Prices Momentarily Slashed by Half, to $1149

In a sign that NVIDIA board partners are getting desperate to clear inventory of their high-end GeForce RTX 30-series "Ampere" graphics cards to make way for the next-generation, EVGA momentarily offered its premium custom-design GeForce RTX 3090 Ti FTW3 graphics card at nearly half its original price. The company listed the RTX 3090 Ti FTW3 at $1,149, a $1,000 "instant discount" from its $2,149 original list price, which is nearly $1,500 down from the card's street price before the crypto-mining crash of Q2-2022.

This could have been a one-off discount, as the other RTX 3090 Ti cards from the company's lineup are priced slightly higher, with the faster FTW3 Ultra priced at $1,199; and the FTW3 Black at $1,399. Prices of high-end graphics cards have been in free-fall for the past couple of months, with the Radeon RX 6900 XT frequently spotted under $1,000; and the RX 6950 XT oscillating around the $1,000-mark. The likes of the RTX 3080 Ti can also be had around this price; while the RTX 3080 is now firmly under $1,000, sometimes spotted near its launch price of $699.

EK Announces EVGA RTX 3090 Ti FTW3 EK-Quantum Vector² Water Block

EK, the leading computer cooling solutions provider, is introducing new Vector² water blocks, this time for the EVGA FTW3 GeForce RTX 3090 Ti GPUs. This product series contains a dedicated GPU water block with an included aluminium backplate, an ultimate GPU cooling enclosure in the form of a set of water blocks and active backplate, but also an alternative nickel-plated backplate and side cover to customize your water-cooled FTW3 3090 Ti GPU to your own desires.

The EK-Quantum Vector² FTW3 RTX 3090 Ti D-RGB is a complete liquid cooling solution that includes a new Vector² water block, a black-anodized aluminium backplate, and a mounting mechanism. Minimalist straight lines dominate the new look of the next-gen water blocks. The 3rd-generation Vector cooling engine combines the jet plate with a 3D machined Plexi insert to improve flow distribution and thermal performance. This new cooling engine is still based on an Open Split-Flow cooling engine design, which proved to be a superior solution for GPU water blocks. It is characterized by low hydraulic flow restriction, meaning it can be used with weaker water pumps or pumps running on low-speed settings and still achieve top performance. Great care was taken to achieve a symmetrical flow domain by utilizing an internal bridge to secondary components. This was done to ensure the cooling of secondary components without sacrificing flow distribution over the GPU core.

WaterCool Announces Heatkiller eBC Active Backplate for EVGA GA102 FTW3 Graphics Cards

With the HEATKILLER V eBC - active backplate for RTX 3080/3090 EVGA FTW3 graphics cards, the German-based manufacturer of high-quality liquid cooling presents its interpretation of an active backplate. The backplate's solid copper design is a unique selling point. The large surface area guarantees an excellent performance especially for the hot spot temperatures in the areas of the graphics card processor, VRAM and the voltage converters. The cooling channels were arranged to provide active cooling for all relevant components.

The connection terminal has been modified to connect the graphics card cooler directly to the backplate. Not only does this look cleaner, but it also allows a parallel inflow, which increases the flow rate while reducing the flow resistance. To achieve the best possible cooling performance, the flow ratio between the active backplate and the graphics card cooler was optimized during development by performing countless tests. The assembly is done in two simple steps. The active backplate and the graphics card cooler are mounted first and then both are connected by the new connection terminal.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB Real, EVGA FTW3 Ultra Card Pictured

NVIDIA is indeed readying a 12 GB variant of the GeForce RTX 3080, positioning it between the current RTX 3080 (10 GB), and the RTX 3080 Ti, in what is an extremely cluttered lineup at the top. If NVIDIA's recent adventure in necromancing the RTX 2060 "Turing" with 12 GB memory is anything to go by, the RTX 3080 12 GB may not be a simple memory uplift, but come with other improvements in specs, starting with the wider 384-bit wide GDDR6X memory bus (compared to 320-bit for the original RTX 3080), a few more CUDA cores, and higher clocks. A picture of an EVGA-branded custom design board was scored by VideoCardz. Its design is standard EVGA fare, resembling the RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra, but with the box clearly labeling "RTX 3080" and "12 GB GDDR6X."

EVGA is Requesting Scalper-level Pricing for Advanced GPU RMA Program

Just a few days back, we have seen reports being made about EVGA graphics cards dying from playing a closed beta test of Amazon Game's New World MMORPG game. Multiple users are reporting on their GPUs getting fried from playing the game, and EVGA is already offering a replacement for the GPUs. However, today's situation appears to be slightly different. According to the report coming from Igor's Lab, EVGA is charging premium prices for its advanced GPU RMA service, getting some criticism from the community. For starters, the advanced RMA service is a service designed for EVGA customers to send their faulty GPUs, pay a deposit, receive a replacement GPU from EVGA, and once EVGA receives the old GPU, it returns the deposit to the person who made it. It basically allows less downtime for owners of the GPU, with a replacement quickly on the way.

All of that is working neatly in theory. However, as every person involved in the PC building recently knows, prices for GPUs are at an insane level as demand is much higher than the supply currently available. Igor's Lab has reportedly experienced a similar situation with EVGA as well. As Igor filed for the advanced RMA program, the deposit needed to be made. Instead of the regular 782 Euros (or about 931 Euros with VAT included) for EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra, EVGA asked for as much as a 1,728.20 Euro deposit to be made.

EVGA Announces Liquid-Cooled GeForce RTX 30-series Graphics Cards

EVGA over the weekend launched an extensive lineup of GeForce RTX 30-series graphics cards that either feature liquid cooling, or come with preparation for DIY liquid cooling. The EVGA Hydro Copper line of graphics cards include the RTX 3090 FTW3 Hydro Copper, RTX 3090 XC3 Hydro Copper, RTX 3080 FTW3 Hydro Copper, and RTX 3080 XC3 Hydro Copper. These are essentially the same FTW3 or XC3 graphics cards EVGA debuted its RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 lineups with, but come with factory-fitted, full-coverage water blocks. These blocks are made of nickel-plated copper, with clear acrylic tops that have a plastic top-plate with a printed pattern similar to the one found on the back-plates. The tops are studded with addressable RGB LEDs which are connected directly to RGB controllers on the PCB, and can be controlled via the Precision X1 software. These cards have the same factory-overclocked speeds as their air-cooled siblings, but are priced about $150-200 higher.

Next up, are the Hybrid Cooling line of graphics cards, which feature factory-fitted, all-in-one, closed-loop, liquid cooling solutions. Much like the FTW3 and XC3 Hydro Copper series, we see EVGA reuse its RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 FTW3 and XC3 PCBs to carve out their Hybrid Cooling variants. The FTW3 Hybrid Cooling cards feature addressable RGB illumination on the radiator fans, while the XC3 Hybrid Cooling series cards lack illumination on the cards. All four variants feature 240 mm x 120 mm radiators, and a pair of included 120 mm fans. The cooling solution features a pump-block cooling the GPU, while a series of heatsinks and a lateral fan cool the memory and VRM components. These cards have a similar $150-200 premium over the air-cooled FTW3 and XC3 cards.

EVGA Unleashes XOC BIOS for GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 Graphics Card

EVGA has today published the "XOC" BIOS version for its GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 graphics cards. The XOC BIOS version is designed for "extreme overclocking" purposes, as it boosts the power limit of the card by very a few additional Watts. This allows the overclockers to use the card to its full potential so the GPU core is not limited by power. To run XOC BIOS on your GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 GPU card, you need to have an adequate cooling solution and sufficient power supply. For power, EVGA recommends that you use at least 850w+ Gold PSU, at minimum. This is a sign that shows that XOC bios will boost the system power consumption by quite a bit. The XOC BIOS is enabling the GPU to have a power limit of 500 Watts. It is important to note that EVGA does not guarantee any performance increase or overclock while using this BIOS update.

You can download the EVGA XOC BIOS for GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 graphics card here. To install it, unzip the file, run Update.exe, and after updating restart your PC. That is the complete update process for the BIOS update. EVGA uploads both the normal BIOS (so you can revert) and XOC BIOS there so be careful when choosing the right files. You can use TechPowerUp GPU-Z tool to verify the BIOS install.

EVGA Releases Optional BIOS Update for RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA - XOC 450 W

EVGA has just released a shocking update for their RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra graphics card, which increases the cards' power limit to 450 W, a 50 W increase over the 400 W power limit the card ships with. The BIOS release doesn't, however, guarantee higher performance - as always, NVIDIA's Boost is affected by temperatures (which are, in turn, affected by the chips' power draw). What this power limit increase does mean is that users who want to embark in overclocking feats can now do so with more ease.

The EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA thus joins ASUS' ROG STRIX OC in their upper power limits; NVIDIA's RTX 3080 cards are usually capped at 320 W or 340 W, due to power efficiency and temperature concerns. EVGA's FTW3 Ultra features three 8-pin connectors to allow for this amount of power to be delivered to the boards' circuits. Look after the break for the rundown on this BIOS availability by EVGA's own Jacob Freeman. The original post on EVGA's forums is available via the source link. After you do update the BIOS (if you choose to do it), you can use TechPowerUp's GPU-Z application to verify the changes to your cards' power limit.

EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 XC3 and FTW3 Pictured in the Flesh

Here are some of the first pictures of the EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 XC3 and FTW3 air-cooled graphics cards in the flesh. The XC3 forms EVGA's more affordable RTX 3090 offering, while the FTW3 will be the company's premium air-cooled product. There will be liquid-cooled products based on the same PCB as the FTW3, as well as overclocker-segment products under EVGA's Kingpin collaboration.

The EVGA RTX 3090 XC3 features a simpler dual-slot cooling solution that uses a trio of fans. The card is 11 cm of (standard full-height) tall. It draws power from no more than two 8-pin PCIe power inputs. The card is expected to tick at NVIDIA-reference clock speeds for the RTX 3090, and its non-overclocked variant could be priced close to NVIDIA's $1,499 baseline price. The FTW3, on the other hand, features a meaty triple-slot cooling solution that's at least an inch taller than full-height. The cooler makes lavish use of chrome and RGB LED elements. The PCB uses a meatier VRM solution that pulls power from three 8-pin PCIe power inputs.
