Akasa at Computex, also unveiled several new illuminated case fans. The lineup begins with the Vegas series (not to be confused with a fan series of the same name from Enermax). The Vegas series come in fixed color options of red, white, green, and blue; characterized by spiral light-shafts from the LED studded frames. The Vegas 7 takes this design philosophy forward with contrasting light shafts in the opposite orientation, for a "kaleidoscopic" effect.

The Vegas R series is for those who prefer a uniform diffusion of light from the frame, and uses silicone diffusers over the monochrome LEDs (again, either red, blue, white, or green). The Vegas R7 and Vegas X7 series are identical to the Vegas and Vegas R series in design, but feature RGB LEDs. The Vegas AR7 is identical to both the Vegas R and Vegas R7, but with more advanced addressable RGB LED illumination. Akasa didn't put out details like the bearing type, or air-flow.

German watercooling expert Alphacool's showcased the company's upcoming Eiszyklon RGB fans designed specifically for Alphacool radiators. They are capable of providing very high static pressure at the lowest noise level possible. The fans are built on a hydraulic bearing to ensure a longer life expectancy while the decoupled frames helps to minimize operating noise. The Eiszyklon RGB fans are offered in two versions. The normal Eiszyklon variant comes 21 RGB LEDs while the Eiszyklon LT variant has 15 RGB LEDs. Nevertheless, both variants utilizes a diffuser to spread even light around the fan.

Phanteks showed off its yet to be named upcoming lineup of fan prototypes with an enhanced "multi-faceted" blade design. These blades, made of fiberglass, work to minimize the bulk of the noise caused by the whiplash. Inspired by vortex-dampening wingtips of modern airplanes, the blades are curved perpendicular toward the edges, and maintain a 0.7 mm gap from the bore of the frame. The fans feature a "6-phase motor," although the company didn't mention what kind of bearing they use. The edges of the frame (near the mounts) feature vibration dampening silicone cladding. The motors feature daisy-chaining cables, so you can chain up to three fans and mount them onto a radiator with minimal clutter. The fans come in 120 mm and 140 mm, each with two thickness-based variants - 25 mm thick, and 30 mm thick. Phanteks doesn't have a concrete launch timeline other than "later this year."

Addressable RGB is the flavor of the season, and Antec launched a new fan series based on the tech, Prizm ARGB. Available in 120 mm and 140 mm variants, the Prizm ARGB 120 and the Prizm ARGB 140; these fans are characterized by circular RGB LED diffusers along the bore of the frame, with 18 LEDs embedded, using the addressable RGB standard. Both models feature 4-pin PWM input, hydraulic bearings, and around 32 dBA maximum noise output. The 120 mm model spins up to 2,000 RPM, pushing up to 45.03 CFM of air, while the 140 mm model spins up to 1,700 RPM, with up to 65.03 CFM air-flow.

GELID debuted the Radiant and Radiant D series case fans at the 2018 Computex, in their 120 mm avatars. These fans are characterized by an innovative new impeller design with sawtooth edges along the business end of the blades, which act as chevrons, and work to minimize noise from the whiplash of the blades; and RGB LED illumination using 9 diodes. What sets the Radiant apart from the Radiant D is the latter's programmable lighting. There are sub-variants of both that include a black frame, or translucent, frost-white plastic. Both feature double ball-bearing hubs. The two also take 4-pin PWM input. The company didn't put out specifications such as speeds, air-flow, or noise outputs, yet.

If 2016 was all about RGB, 2018 is about the new addressable RGB standard, which lets you control the color, brightness, and lighting patterns of each individual diode in a cluster (such as a strip or a fan with multiple diodes). Last December, BitFenix updated its Spectre Pro series fans with RGB LED lighting; and now these fans even get addressable RGB, letting you control them through a variety of controllers and software, such as ASUS Aura Sync RGB. With the right software and downloadable lighting presets, you can program your fans to put up quite a show. Besides addressable RGB, the other vital specs of the Spectre Pro hasn't changed.

Raijintek is selling these fans in single-unit, 2-pack, and 3-pack SKUs. Thermaltake today introduced the Riing Plus 20 RGB TT Premium Edition, a large 200 mm fan studded with RGB LEDs. The 30 mm-thick fan features a 11-blade impeller backed by a motor that features hydraulic bearing; and a fan frame with 24 RGB diodes studded along the bore of the frame, which support 16.7 million colors. What's interesting about this fan is that it plugs into your motherboard via the 9-pin USB 2.0/1.1 header, from which it not just powers the fan and the lighting, but also takes in software control for both.

The included Digital Lighting Controller (DLC) module ensures you don't run out of USB headers if you have many of these fans, by taking input from one header (two 500 mA inputs), and putting out three USB headers for up to three fans.
