The 32" diagonal may put some off due to the typical distance users sit away from the monitor. The 2560 x 1440 Fast IPS panel features a 1 ms response time and 170 Hz refresh rate - as well as support for FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA's G-Sync Compatible program. In addition to the fast response time and refresh rates, the ASUS TUF Gaming VG32AQL1A also features ELMB sync (for black frame insertion and motion blur reduction) as well as a smart, "variable overdrive" setting that dynamically changes monitor overdrive values according to the current frame rate so as to further reduce motion blur.

ASUS today released the ROG Strix XG43UQ Xbox Edition, a large 43-inch monitor that's designed for competitive gameplay in the living room. The monitor comes with a native resolution of 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels), and is capable of 144 Hz refresh-rate, and has DisplayHDR 1000. ASUS worked with Microsoft to optimize the monitor for the Xbox Series X/S consoles, and packed the monitor with an "Xbox Mode," which optimizes it for Xbox gameplay. ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced that Strix XG43UQ, the world's first HDMI 2.1 gaming monitor, will be available in May. Strix XG43UQ features a 43 inch 4K panel with up to a 144 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms moving picture response time (MPRT). It also includes Display Stream Compression (DSC) technology. The HDMI 2.1 port enables gamers to enjoy 4K 120 Hz gameplay on the latest consoles.

The inclusion of AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technology ensures smooth HDR visuals with low latency, while ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync (ELMB Sync) works simultaneously with variable refresh rate technology to eliminate smearing and motion blur for fluid and responsive gameplay. Strix XG43UQ has a maximum brightness of 1000 nits - more than three times that of OLED TVs. MSI today announced another entry into their MAG monitor lineup in the form of the MAG272CQP. As the name implies, we're looking at a 27" affair packing a WQHD resolution (2560 x 1440). The panel is a VA type (as implied by its 3000:1 contrast ratio, although at a basic 300 nits maximum brightness), and has a curve ratio of 1500R. The monitor supports VRR (marketed as FreeSync Premium), and 165 Hz refresh rates with 1 ms response times.

I/O is (generously) assured by 1x DisplayPort 1.2, 2x HDMI2.0, 2x USB3.2 Gen.1 Type-A, 1x USB3.2 Gen.1 Type-B, 1x USB Type-C (DisplayPort Alternate), and an earphone jack. no word on pricing or actual release date was available at time of writing.

MSI today announced the release of not one, not two, but four monitors to their Optix lineup, under the Optix PAG272 family. These monitors aim to cater to all budgets, apparently, as their features vary across resolution and refresh rates according to the model number. RGB lighting on the back of the monitors is stock across the lineup. Starting from the top-down in terms of specs, the Optix PAG272URV features a 27", IPS panel sporting 4K resolution, 60 Hz refresh rate, a 4 ms GtG response time, FreeSync (non-Premium), and VESA Display HDR 400 certification. I/O is taken care of by 2x HDMI (1.4), 1x HDMI (2.0) and 1x DisplayPort (1.2).

That's not the most impressive display, though - that honor is reserved for the Optix PAG272QR2. The Optix PAG272QR2 features a 27", IPS panel sporting 1440p resolution, 165 Hz refresh rate, a 1 ms GtG response time, FreeSync Premium, and an HDR-ready badge (with maximum brightness set at 300 nits). The more interesting spec in this panel, though, is the addition of a Quantum Dot layer, which greatly improves color rendition: MSI claim 10 bit colors (8 bit + FRC) with 150% of the sRGB color gamut coverage, alongside 99% of the Adobe RGB color gamut, and 98% of the DCI-P3 color space, which makes this an interesting panel not only for gaming, but also for color-sensitive tasks.

The three monitor models all share LG as a panel source (specifically, the same panel used in the LG UltraGear 27GL850. All of them also share the same IPS technology with 1 ms response times, 98% DCI-P3 and 100% sRGB coverage, as well as the same 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Freesync Premium (from 48 Hz VRR support through to the maximum refresh rate of every monitor) and G-Sync Compatible support is standard on all monitors. Differences start to appear when looking at maximum resolution, brightness and refresh rates.
