Low profile graphics cards have always been something of a niche market, but they've found homes in many HTPC builds over the years, especially passively cooled cards. Now Gigabyte has launched a rather odd looking low profile NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 based graphics card that simply goes under the name of GeForce RTX 4060 OC Low Profile 8G. The 182 x 69 x 40 (D x H x W) mm card still manages to pack in three fans and requires an 8-pin power connector to work, which somewhat unfortunately plugs in at the rear of the card, although there wouldn't have been too many other locations to place it. This means that this card might not work in some Mini-ITX builds, due to the card being too long once the power connector is plugged in.

The card width should've given away that we're looking at a dual slot card, which is also pretty obvious from the pictures. Gigabyte provides a full height and a low profile bracket with the card, which not all low profile cards have shipped with in the past, so this is a plus. Connectivity wise, the GeForce RTX 4060 OC Low Profile 8G comes with two DP 1.4a and two HDMI 2.1a ports, making this a card well suited for HTPC usage. Gigabyte has even overclocked the GPU from 2460 MHz to 2475 MHz, which seems quite pointless and is unlikely to bring any huge performance advantages over stock clock speeds.Update Aug 24th: During a recent meeting with Gigabyte we had a chance to go hands-on with their new RTX 4060 Low Profile card, here's some photos.

Without fanfare, Intel has launched two new mobile GPUs in the shape of the Arc A570M and the A530M. The Arc A570M gets 16 Xe Cores and 256 execution units, as well as four render slices and 16 RT units. The lower-end Arc A530M gets to make do with 12 Xe cores, 192 execution units, three render slices and 12 RT units, which is a smaller cut than the model name suggests. What's interesting to note here is that the Arc A570M appears to have identical hardware specs to the Arc A550M that launched in the second quarter of 2022, although as we'll see, the clock speeds and TGP differ between the parts. The Arc A570M supports 8 GB of GDDR6 memory, the same as the Arc A550M, with the Arc A530M supports 4 or 8 GB of GDDR6.

Both the Arc A570M and the A530M will get a GPU clock speed of 1,300 MHz, which is a significant boost from the Arc A550M which is plodding along at a mere 900 MHz in comparison. This makes the two newcomers Intel's third highest clocked mobile GPUs, with only the Arc A770M and Arc A370M being clocked higher. The downside of this is an increase in TGP, where the Arc A550M had a fairly reasonable TGP of 60 Watts, the Arc A530M has a TGP range of 65 to 95 Watts, while the Arc A570M extends this to 75-95 Watts. The rest of the specs appear to carry over from the Arc A550M, so the new GPUs will support up to four displays via eDP, DP 2.0 or HDMI 2.1 and the full set of video encoders and decoders are also supported. The new additions are still made using TSMC's N6 node, so what we're looking at are most likely just optimised silicon here, which has led Intel to be able to boost the clock speeds while maintaining acceptable thermals.

Making great processors even better
While the original 2023 ROG Strix SCAR 17 came equipped with AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors, the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D is truly in a league of its own. It leverages the power of AMD 3D V-Cache technology, a stacking of extra ultra-high-speed L3 cache vertically on top of one of the two core compute dies (CCD). This extra cache enables the eight cores to perform certain calculations quickly and efficiently, notably in gaming. For situations where increasing CPU frequency simply doesn't show significant performance gains, 3D V-Cache technology holds the potential to unlock extra compute power.

Dell has added a new display to its UltraSharp range and this time around we're looking at a 38-inch ultra-wide display with a resolution of 3840 x 1600 pixels. The display uses an IPS Black panel with a 2000:1 contrast ratio and it covers 100 percent of the sRGB and REC.709 colour gamuts, as well as 98 percent of the DCI-P3 and Display P3 colour gamuts. Sadly it only has a brightness of 300 cd/m² and it's unclear if this is an 8-bit + FRC or a true 10-bit panel, as Dell only mentions support for 1.07 billion colours. It uses a standard WLED backlight, so no fancy miniLED backlight here and as this display is intended for work use, it also only appears to support 60 Hz refresh rate with a response time of 8 ms in normal mode.

Other features include a built-in KVM switch courtesy of a pair of USB-C ports, with the primary supporting USB PD up to 90 W, as well as DP Alt mode, with the second port only supporting USB 3.2 Gen 2 data at up to 10 Gbps. Other inputs include two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DP 1.4, while the outputs consist of five USB 3.2 Gen 2 10 Gbps Type-A ports, two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 10 Gbps ports, a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet jack and a 3.5 mm audio line out jack. One interesting feature is that the built in Ethernet supports network boot, something that isn't a common feature on monitors and it also has the ability to lock the wired port to one of the two connected computers in KVM mode. The stand supports height,swivel and tilt adjustment. The asking price for the U3824DW is US$1,529.99 and it's available from Dell now.

Samsung Electronics today announced the global launch of the Odyssey OLED G9 gaming monitor (G95SC model), which has been enhanced with next-level AI upscaling technology. Building on the success of last year's Odyssey OLED G8 (G85SB), the new monitor joins the lineup to open a new era of OLED gaming. "Last year, Samsung addressed the demands and expectations of even the most experienced gamers with the launch of the Odyssey OLED G8," said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. "With the introduction of the Odyssey OLED G9, equipped with unrivaled picture quality, we are excited to offer our customers these powerful gaming monitors and raise the bar for OLED gaming."

Measuring 49 inches in size with a 1800R curvature, the Odyssey OLED G9 is the first OLED monitor to offer Dual Quad High Definition (DQHD; 5,120 x 1,440) resolution with a 32:9 ratio. The large and wide screen ratio enable users to lose themselves in super-ultrawide vistas—equivalent to two QHD screens side by side. At the same time, its rapid 0.03 ms gray-to-gray (GtG) response time and 240 Hz refresh rate offer players a competitive edge.

LG is something of an expert when it comes to silently launching new monitors and although its latest additions to its UltraGear range of gaming monitors are only minor variants of already existing products, it appears that we're looking at a pair of more affordable models. The 27GR93U-B and 32GR93U-B as the new models are called, measure 27 and 32-inches respectively and both offer 4K resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate. Comparing the 27GR93U-B to the 27GN950-B, the first really obvious difference is the use of a standard IPS panel instead of a Nano IPS panel and this leads to a slight reduction in the DCI-P3 colour gamut from 98 to 95 percent.

The new models are only certified for FreeSync Premium, rather than FreeSync Premium Pro, but that appears to be the only obvious reduction in gaming features, as G-Sync compatible support, VRR, Black Stabilizer, Dynamic Action Sync, Crosshairs and the FPS counter are all present and accounted for. Both displays have two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 and one upstreams and two downstreams USB 3.0 ports, as well as a 4-pole 3.5 mm jack for a headset. On the plus side, these new models have slightly lower power consumption, with a typical power consumption of about 50 W for the 27-inch model and 65 W for the 32-inch model. The stand still supports tilt, height and pivot adjustment. No official pricing was announced, but we found the 27-inch model listed in Hong Kong for the equivalent of around US$560, which is around US$200 less than what the 27GN950-B retails for.

Taiwan-based YUAN High-Tech Development company brought a series of consumer-grade (read: affordable) video capture devices, at Computex 2023. The SC750N1 is a PCI-Express 3.0 x8 internal AIC capture card that features an HDMI 2.1 input and output (loop), which provides you with the ability to record 8K video at 60 FPS, 4K at 144 FPS, and HDR10 VRR information. Too cutting-edge? There's also the SC720N1, which is a PCI-Express 2.0 x8 AIC with DisplayPort 1.4a input and output, letting you capture 8K at 30 FPS, and 4K at 120 FPS. Don't have PCIe slots to spare? There are even external versions of these cards. The UB700G is a wallet-sized device that passes through HDMI 2.1, connects to your PC over 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2, and can capture 8K @ 60 FPS, 4K @ 144 FPS that's encoded in MJPEG format on the device (to overcome the 10 Gbps interface bottleneck), or 4K 60 FPS RAW (uncompressed).

Unveiling the Next-Gen ASRock Monitors
ASRock is set to showcase an exciting lineup of monitors at COMPUTEX 2023, featuring six existing products along with new gaming and business models. The spotlight will be on the PG558KF and PG32UMF, two high-end monitors.

Possible specifications of the upcoming AMD Radeon RX 7600 graphics card leaked to the web. At this point we don't know if the RX 7600 maxes out the silicon it is based on (with room for a faster RX 7600 XT). The leak appears to be from marketing materials of the RX 7600. It speaks of 32 Compute Units. This works out to the same 2,048 stream processors as the previous-generation RX 6600 XT, but an increase from the 1,792 of the RX 6600. The mention of AI accelerators confirms that this GPU is based on the latest RDNA3 graphics architecture.

The other RDNA3 feature referenced is the Radiance Display Engine, which supports the latest DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1a outputs, along with 12 bpc color, and support for resolutions as high as 4K 180 Hz with a single cable. Apparently, the GPU that the RX 7600 is based on has 32 MB of Infinity Cache memory, which is the same amount as the previous-generation "Navi 23" silicon powering the RX 6600 series. For the flagship "Navi 31," the Infinity Cache memory size is generationally reduced to 96 MB (from 128 MB on "Navi 21,") because the memory bus width has generationally increased to 384-bit (from 256-bit). This could mean that the RX 7600 has a 128-bit wide memory bus, given that its Infinity Cache size is unchanged from that of the RX 6600 series.

PNY GeForce RTX 4070 is the 4th addition to PNY's 40 Series GPUs and will be available in three different configurations: XLR8 Gaming EPIC-X RGB Overclocked Triple Fan, XLR8 Gaming EPIC-X RGB Triple Fan and PNY VERTO Dual Fan edition. Unlike its competitors, MSI has only revealed a single AMD A620 chipset based motherboard today and it's extra underwhelming, even though none of the boards are exactly what we'd call appealing. The Pro A620M-E only sports a pair of DDR5 DIMM slots and it has a single PCIe 4.0 x16 slot and a single PCIe 3.0 x1 slot, as well as a single PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 NVMe slot. Internal connectivity is equally sparse, with a single USB 3.2 Gen 1 5 Gbps header and four SATA 6 Gbps ports.

Around the back you'll find an HDMI 2.1 port, a VGA port, two PS/2 ports, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 5 Gbps ports, two USB 2.0 ports, a Gigabit Ethernet jack and three audio jacks behind the ancient Realtek ALC897 audio codec. MSI appears to have gone for potentially slightly better power regulation than its competitors, but it's hard to tell from just looking at the board, but you don't get a VRM heatsink here. The chipset heatsink also looks like something from 20 years ago, but hopefully the AMD A620 chipset doesn't run too hot. This should hopefully be a very affordable board, but judging by ASUS' pricing for its A620, it might not be under $100.
