This particular entry from AOC features a 2560 x 1440 8WQHD) 31.5" panel with a VA pixel matrix, which will ensure fast response times - as shown by the 155 HZ refresh rate and 1 ms response time. To support that refresh rate, the AOC AG323QCX2 features support for VESA's VRR (FreeSync). With a contrast ratio set at 3000:1 and a 1500R curvature, this panel looks like a competent solution for users who are looking for 1080p+ resolutions but don't want to bring their graphics cards to their knees with 4K resolution (a reality that is still common, even with the latest (unavailable) GPUs from AMD and NVIDIA.

ASUS Announces ROG Swift PG279QM 1440P 240 Hz 27" IPS Gaming Monitor

Back in 2015, the ROG Swift PG279Q gaming monitor was among the first to combine NVIDIA G-SYNC tech with a balanced 2560x1440 resolution, an IPS-type panel, and a high 165Hz refresh rate. It's since racked up a mountain of accolades. Five years on, graphics cards have gotten much more powerful, and gaming displays need even higher refresh rates in order to show every frame that top-end cards like the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090 can draw. At CES 2021, we're raising the bar for 1440p gaming displays with the ROG Swift PG279QM, our first 27" 2560x1440 display with a 240Hz refresh rate.

A 240Hz refresh rate is a big step up in fluidity and responsiveness from the 144Hz max refresh rate typical of most 2560x1440 displays, but that's just one part of the puzzle for a top-end gaming experience. Blurry moving images can muddy your view of the action. To keep every frame crisp, the PG279QM employs the latest ASUS Fast IPS panel technology for a quick 1 ms gray-to-gray response time on average. That low response time results in a picture that's both sharp and fluid in motion, all while maintaining the wide viewing angles that IPS panels are known for.

This is a beastly monitor with a 49" diagonal and 5K resolution with a Super Ultra-Wide aspect ratio of 32:9 (with a resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixels). The panel type is VA, which promises increased contrast ratios against those typically found in IPS panels (3000:1, in this case). AOC is promising 120 Hz refresh rates with a 1 ms (MPRT) response times with MBR backlight. There is also support for VRR technologies such as FreeSync and G-Sync (compatible).

Display brightness is quoted at 550 cd/m², which is just shy of a DisplayHDR 600 certification, but comfortably achieves the VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. The monitor isn't a slouch in terms of color display either, being better than your average VA panel: the display is factory-calibrated and ships with a guaranteed dE <2, and coverage for 16.7 millions colors across a 93% DCI-P3 gamut coverage (and 121% sRGB coverage). I/O is handled by 2x DisplayPort 1.4, 2x HDMI 2.0, 1x USB type-C, 3x USB ports and 1x an audio output. 2x 5 W speakers are built in to the screen and the stand offers tilt, height and swivel adjustments. MSI today announced the release of not one, not two, but four monitors to their Optix lineup, under the Optix PAG272 family. These monitors aim to cater to all budgets, apparently, as their features vary across resolution and refresh rates according to the model number. RGB lighting on the back of the monitors is stock across the lineup. Starting from the top-down in terms of specs, the Optix PAG272URV features a 27", IPS panel sporting 4K resolution, 60 Hz refresh rate, a 4 ms GtG response time, FreeSync (non-Premium), and VESA Display HDR 400 certification. I/O is taken care of by 2x HDMI (1.4), 1x HDMI (2.0) and 1x DisplayPort (1.2).

MSI Launches Three New Monitors: 2x 1080p 144 Hz Panels, Availability of 240 Hz 1080p IPS MAG251RX

MSI today launched three new monitors on their Optix lineup, catering to budget-conscious gamers that want fast, responsive gameplay. MSI's new Optix G241 and Optix G271 differ solely in diagonal (one is 24", the other 27"), and both offer a 1080p, IPS panel with support for refresh rates up to 144 Hz and up to 1 ms response times. The MSI Optix G241 will be available for $189.99, whilst the 27" MSI Optix G271 will go for $239.99.

More interesting for gamers that want crazy refresh rates, however, is the MSI Optix MAG251RX. This monitor keeps the 1080p resolution and IPS panel, but brings refresh rates up to a crazy 240 Hz with up to 1 ms response time. MSI has also "upgraded" the Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology up to NVIDIA's G-Sync. There's HDR 400 support (don't read that much into that though; it's the bare minimum for entry and far from a quality HDR experience). It also sports USB-C connectivity and RGB customization on the back of the monitor via MSI's Mystic Light software. The MSI Optix MAG251RX will be available for a still conscious $359.99, provided you didn't stop reading at the mention of a 1080p panel.
