GALAX GeForce 1080 Ti Hall of Fame Poses for the Camera - 16+3 Phase Design

This here is probably the most beautiful AIB partner card I've ever seen (and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so you are naturally free to disagree with me.) The pristine color scheme and subdued backplate design really stand out for me, as does the white PCB. Nitpicking, I hoped the power cables would not be color coded as they are, but I guess that would invite disaster.

Aqua Computer Also Announces the kryoM.2 EVO Performance SSD Cooler and Riser

Almost one year ago Aqua Computer launched the kryoM.2 for the first time: an adapter card with passive heat sink for M.2 SSDs. The popularity of M.2 SSDs continues to grow and the thermal problems of these small ultrafast drives will continue too. Aqua Computer has put a lot of development energy into an improved version: the kryoM.2 evo.

The kryoM.2 evo is a high-quality PCIe card that is capable of maximizing the performance of M.2 SSDs. To achieve this, Aqua Computer drastically increased the size of the main heat sink. A second smaller heat sink has been integrated to the backside of the board. This patent-protected system encloses the SSD between these two heat sinks and also cools it from both sides.

AMD's Upcoming RX Vega Card Pictures Surface

It would seem that AMD has been making internal, top-secret demonstrations of its upcoming RX Vega GPUs. The company was in Beijing, China yesterday, sowing some thoughts and knowledge on its upcoming Ryzen 5 line of processors. Yet AMD apparently also found the time to tease its upcoming high-performance GPU (which apparently, and unlike it's competitors GPUs, also carries a soul.)

From what can be gleaned from the pictures, this physical manifestation of Vega does away with AMD's Fury X small size (achieved through water cooling). Instead, the coolers seems to be a monolithic piece which totally encloses the card, in an attractive, white and red color scheme with AMD's Vega branding etched on for good measure. We can also glean from the pics that AMD's RX Vega doesn't drop the tachometer feature that allows you to look at the operating LED's to glean the amount of workload on the GPU, with switches that are likely to allow for "OFF/ON" positions for the LED's and for "RED/BLUE" coloring.

Alphacool Presents the "Eislicht," a Revolution in Illumination

Alphacool presents the next step in modding and style. With the "Eislicht" , Alphacool is introducing a brand new technology into the field of case illumination.

Installing lighting into PCs started many years ago with cathode tubes. They had a pleasant, even glow, but were rather chunky and difficult to integrate into a system. Their lifespan was also a lot shorter than today's LEDs.

The latter are state of the art today, and the world of modding can hardly be imagined without them. They're easy to install, don't use a lot of power, give off very little heat, and their lifespan is very long. However, their illumination is rather piecemeal and often looks awkward due to the many individual LEDs.

GeIL Launches its EVO-X Series DDR4 Memory with RGB LED Lighting

GeIL launched its flagship EVO-X line of high-performance DDR4 memory modules featuring RGB LED lighting, which it unveiled at the 2017 International CES, earlier this year. The modules feature a diffused RGB LED lighting element that takes input from most RGB LED standards over 4-pin headers, such as ASUS Aura Sync, ASRock Aura RGB, MSI Mystic Light Sync, and GIGABYTE RGB Fusion. The modules feature two inputs, one on either side. One plugs into a 4-pin RGB LED header, and the other draws additional power from a 9V/12V power source, such as a fan header.

Internally, the LED lighting element is placed on a separate PCB from the actual DRAM module, so there's no scope for electrical interference that can destabilize the memory. The modules come in 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB densities, and in a wide range of speeds and timing combinations, including DDR4-2133, DDR4-2400, DDR4-3000, DDR4-3466, DDR4-4000, and DDR4-4133. The modules further come in single-module and dual-channel kits; and with two heatspreader color options - glossy white and matte black. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Rosewill Debuts the RK-9300 Mechanical Keyboard

Adding to its mechanical keyboard line-up, Rosewill has just announced availability of the RK-9300 Mechanical Keyboard, which sports two choices of Cherry MX Blue or Brown switches to sate your particular tastes. The RK-9300 has a more subdued look than most other recent mechanical keyboards we've seen, and sheds full RGB lighting for a more professional look, as well as additional cost-savings for the customer. However, that isn't to say it doesn't sport some sort of lighting: it features blue LEDs, with three lighting modes available (full keyboard, with a breathing mode and four variable levels of brightness; numerical pad only; WASD and arrow keys only).

The keyboard features an all-black design, with an aluminum top panel that extends out and down at a slight angle. The upper right side of the keyboard features the usual notification lights, and the F keys double as media and volume controls, including brightness, Windows lock, and more. It also features n-key rollover, though there is no macro support (and no accompanying software). The two versions of the RK-9300 list for $99, but both are available for $85 on Amazon (Blue switches and Brown switches) and Newegg (Blue switches and Brown switches).

Corsair Reveals K95 RGB Platinum Keyboard

Even though Corsair has already launched a K95 RGB Keyboard, the company apparently wasn't convinced that that was the best of what they could achieve; as such, Corsair has announced what they deem to be "the true successor to the K70: the K95 RGB Platinum.

This version features 8 MB of on-board memory to let owners save up to three profiles for lighting and macros, so that they are carried with your keyboard and you don't have to fiddle with the settings yet again if you change computers. There are now only 6 macro keys located on the left side of the keyboard, a step-down from the 18 offered in the previous K95 - but evey main key is now re-assignable, which means that you can do the same amount of work, without having those extra 12 keys taking up space and increasing the keyboard length . In terms of the ever-present lighting features, the K95 RGB Platinum features a lighting zone called LightEdge, which is located along the top edge of the keyboard. It's essentially a long strip of light created by 16 RGB LEDs, and you can program its lighting patterns and colors separately from the rest of the keyboard.

Monitors with 1000 ppi: Scientists researching Graphene to develop 'Mechanical Pixels'

At the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, scientists were hard at work researching how to produce mechanical Graphene sensors. Working with membranes measuring only two atoms thick, there are 13 micrometer-sized round air filled cavities in a silicon surface (silicon oxide) that are covered by double-layered Graphene. Upon observing these samples, the scientists noticed that the colors of the membranes differed. When the pressure within the cavities varied, the air 'bubbles' became concave or convex, changing how light refracted through them and created different colors.

At first this disappointed the scientists, as it became apparent that the small bubbles were not homogeneous enough to build a sensor. However they quickly noticed that the effect showed promise for an entirely different path of research - the Mechanical Pixel. The scientists speculate that screens built using this technology could eventually lead to much more flexible, durable and energy efficient panels than current LED technology allows. They do however caution that this research is very much in stages of infancy, it remains to be seen whether this mechanization of Graphene could conclude in screens of comparable quality or be scaled up to mass production. Bear in mind the samples that are currently being worked with would produce a panel with a pixel density north of 1,000 DPI. An explanation for mechanical color pixels can be found in this Vimeo video.
