Hi-Tech enthusiasts who will visit this year's IFA Consumer Electronics show ( Berlin Aug 31 - Sep 5 2007 ) will have the chance to witness the official showcase of the new LG GGW-H20N drive, the first 6x Blu-Ray burner which is also capable of reading HD DVD media.

LG Electronics (LG), and Google today announced a global collaboration to pre-install Google's services on millions of LG mobile phones. Mobile users around the world will now be able to easily search for information, find locations, update blogs and manage email while on the move.

The LG/Prada KE850 designer handset was announced last year, but looks awfully familiar. The KE850 looks very similar to the Apple iPhone, right down to the form factor, the touch screen, and the glossy user interface. The KE850 uses a tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE radio to connect to wireless providers, and has a slew of interesting features. It comes with an 800mAh battery, a 2 megapixel camera with LED flash, an SD memory card for storage, full multimedia playback features, Bluetooth 2.0, and USB 2.0. While the KE850 is slightly smaller than the iPhone, 9.9 x 5.4 x 1.2cm to the Apple gadget's 11.5 x 6.1 x 1.2cm, it lacks some serious features that are iPhone exclusives. The LG device lacks Wi-fi, and costs a lot more than the iPhone ($777, or 600 Euros compared to $600, or 463 Euros for the best Apple iPhone).

LG Electronics signed a contract with SEGA Enterprises Ltd. (SEGA) for game trailer movies during 2007 International CES. The companies will kick off the joint promotion at the 2007 International CES in Las Vegas, January 8-11. Visitors to LG's booth (Booth #8214, Central Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center) at 2007 International CES will be dazzled by HD and Full HD games developed by SEGA and shown on LG's Full HDTVs. Video games will include Virtua Fighter 5 and Sonic The Hedgehog, both compatible with the PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360, next generation game consoles. LG will use the occasion to demonstrate its broad line-up of Full HD LCD TVs including 37-, 42-, 47-, and 55-inch models.

LG Electronics plans to release five new "Certified for Windows Vista" widescreen LCDs, ranging from 19 to 24-inches and all designed under the governance of Microsoft's Industrial Design Toolkit. The 19-inch(L196WTQ-WF), 20-inch(L206WTQ-WF), 22-inch(L226WTQ-WF and L226WA-WF) are all considered top-end LG models featuring 2-ms response time, 3000:1 contrast, 170-degrees H/V viewing angles, and a DVI input with HDCP for HD video playback in Vista. They also feature LG's f-ENGINE image processing chip. The 24-inch FLATRON L246WP goes a step further by offering a 1920x1200 panel resolution, 1000:1 contrast, 8-ms response, HDMI and component inputs. There's no official information about the pricing or release date of the monitors.

Seoul, Korea, January 4, 2007 --- LG Electronics (LG), a leader in consumer electronics and mobile communications, announced that it will launch the world's first dual-format high-definition disc player, capable of playing both Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD content. The unit will be released in the United States in early 2007. Details will be provided at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), held January 8-11 in Las Vegas.

The TVPC is basically a laptop chassis built into a widescreen television. The flat panel, measuring 72 x 47 x 10cm, uses a 1.73GHz Celeron M 430 processor from Intel, 1GB of DDR2, a 160GB hard drive, and an Intel 945M chipset which uses the GMA950 for onboard graphics. It also has wireless internet built in, as well as a 14-in-1 memory card reader. The product should be available in South Korea for KRW1,850,000 ($2,004/£1,027/€1,533).

LG had great success with the "Chocolate" phone, which was a cell phone that doubled as an MP3 player. LG decided that it wants a better name for itself in the mobile music player world, so they mixed a new type of chocolate. The UP3 Flat is a small MP3 player that will soon debut in Korea, and hopefully around the globe. It uses flash memory, has a slide-out USB connector, the ability to record voice and arrow keys for music navigation that glow a brilliant red. The UP3 Flat will be available in 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB flavors, and the 512MB version is expected to cost KRW60,000 ($65/£33/€50).
