FSP Introduces the New Hydro PTM+ Liquid Cooled PSU

Electrical circuits and water have never liked to be the closest friends. However, computer hardware enthusiasts - and even the simply hardware curious - have been able to leverage liquid cooling solutions' higher thermal dissipation capabilities to reduce temperatures of their operating hardware. Now, FSP is looking to introduce something that has been seldom seen in other power supply units: liquid cooling.

Created in cooperation with Bitspower so as to meet the highest security and safety standards, the Hydro PTM+ is a unique, patented liquid cooled PSU. FSP claims that the the Hydro PTM+ is the world's first 80 Plus Platinum-certified, mass-produced liquid cooled PSU. It features LED lighting, which FSP says achieves a combination of great looks with amazing performance. The unique liquid cooling system, once enabled, increases the power rating from 1200W to 1400W. But, with an array of integrated sensors, the Hydro PTM+ also excels at efficiency, when running in silent mode (below 50% load) it still delivers 600W without the use of a fan for cooling, thus remaining in complete silence. Expect to see more of these units at Computex, where we'll perhaps learn about this unit's pricing. I assure you, however, that these won't come cheap.

Riotoro Makes its Entry to Liquid Cooling

Riotoro made its entry into liquid cooling with a pair of unnamed AIO liquid CPU coolers. What sets Riotoro apart from the others is its choice of high static pressure fans that are optimized for radiators. These fans take input via PWM from the pump-block. The block features a LED lit decorative piece, with the Riotoro logo. There are a lot of design elements that point to Asetek being the OEM.

Aerocool Also Unveils Project 7 Liquid Cooling Solutions

It looks like Aerocool's Project 7 covers a wider range of products than PSUs, extending to even liquid cooling. The company unveiled a mixture of closed-loop coolers and DIY liquid cooling parts under the banner. To begin with, there's the P7-W240C, which is a closed loop cooler with a 240 mm x 120 mm radiator, and a pump-block, with a regulator. It looks all too DIY, but is factory-fitted closed-loop. Next up, is the P7-W240 Pro, which appears to be a set of compatible parts so you can build a simple loop of your own, complete with a CPU block, a 240 mm x 120 mm radiator, and a cylindrical reservoir.

PowerColor Next-Gen LCS Liquid Cooling Solutions Pictured

PowerColor is ready with its next-generation LCS (liquid cooling system) VGA cooling solutions. The first one in the series is a close-loop all-in-one solution for single-GPU cards, which consists of a pump+block, plumbed to a 360 mm x 120 mm radiator (at least for this prototype). Much of the liquid cooling parts have "GamerStorm" design language, hinting at DeepCool being the OEM. This single-GPU cooler could be launched with upcoming "Polaris" graphics cards. Don't let the radiator size be any indication of the upcoming chip's thermal characteristics.

Also unveiled is a new full-coverage water block for dual-GPU graphics cards hinting at the possibility of a custom-design Radeon Pro Duo by PowerColor being under development. The block appears to be more than 1-slot thick, and uses the additional volume for two independent coolant channels, so one GPU doesn't get second-hand coolant from another GPU.

Phanteks Makes its Foray into DIY Liquid Cooling

Phanteks made its major foray into DIY liquid cooling, with the launch of two new CPU blocks, a new full-coverage VGA block for the GeForce GTX 1080, and a variety of fittings. To begin with, the company showed off two new untitled CPU water blocks, one features a bulged out frosty acrylic top, and the other a flat top with POM acetal inserts near the fittings area. Speaking of which, the company launched a boat-load of plugs, extenders, and compression fittings to go with these blocks. Lastly, the company launched its first full-coverage VGA block, with one designed for the GTX 1080.

Colorful and Bykski Announce Liquid Cooling Ready GTX 1080 FE Bundle

Colorful and China-based liquid cooling components maker Bykski announced GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition graphics cards with bundled full-coverage water blocks, at a $100 premium (so that's a $100 premium over a $100 premium, over the $599 MSRP, totaling $799 for a card based on the second-biggest "Pascal" chip, kudos!). At this time, Colorful seems to be playing safe, and merely bundling the block with the card, so you could fit it yourself, just so it could get the bundle out on the shelves by May 27. In the near future (after NVIDIA has milked early adopters dry), Colorful could launch a "custom design" product (think of it as NVIDIA reference PCB with this block factory-fitted), which could likely lack the "Founders Edition" badge, and perhaps even be $100 cheaper.
