The guys over at HKEPC managed to get hold of an engineering sample MSI P45 Diamond motherboard (Intel P45) that looks in no way inferior to current ASUS R.O.G. and Foxconn MARS products. The Micro Star P45 DIAMOND (MS-7516) has all the features needed to be named high-end motherboard. This early ES sample features large heatpipe chipset cooling that can be transformed into water block if needed. On-board power, reset and clear CMOS buttons are also included. MSI is entering the Eee PC champion league with some tricked out Wind notebook. While you won't be blown away by performance or by the looks of it, Wind U100 will be MSI's first major fighter against Eee that is claimed to beat it in 6 out of 9 design specification. Shipping in mid to late May, the U100 will get its power from an Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor based on a Intel 945GM motherboard, up to 2GB DDR2 667MHz memory, 80GB 2.5-inch SATA hard drive and a 10-inch WSVGA LCD with 1024x600 wide resolution, that MSI claims is much better for web surfing compared to Eee PC. Also included is a 4-in-1 card reader, three USB 2.0 ports, GB network port, 802.11B/G wireless and Bluetooth V2.0 EDR. Multimedia features will get you HD audio through integrated stereo speakers and video from a 1.3MP camera. The MSI Wind will ship with either Windows XP or Linux OS. Also MSI promises two battery options: 3 cell and 6 cell. With the 3 cell battery installed, the whole system will weigh less than a kilo and measure 260x180x19-31.5mm. MSI has updated its GX600 gaming laptop, introducing the GX600-Enhanced model. The new notebook features improved hardware, including a 45nm Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 processor at 2.4GHz, up to 3GB DDR2 RAM and a 320GB hard drive. The system still comes equipped with a a GeForce 8600M GT 512MB graphics processor and a 15.4" non-glare LCD, as well as MSI's Turbo Drive Engine, which allows users to increase CPU speed by as much as 20% with the touch of a button.

MSI's cooling solution for its upcoming Intel P45-powered motherboard, the P45D3 Platinum, is now out in the open. Set to cool the new mainstream LGA775 chipset the Cinco Pipe is Circu Pipe's successor. The whole cooling system is made out of copper, and features five heatpipes all along the CPU area, northbridge and southbridge. Aside from the chipset cooling, the P45D3 Platinum has four DDR3 slots, two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots with support for CrossFire, six SATA 3.0 Gbps ports, integrated HD audio and just about everything you can dream of. The P45D3 Platinum will be released in Q2.

It seems just about every company wants to jump on the subnotebook bandwagon nowadays, with MSI being the most recent addition to the list. The Wind Laptop will feature a 10" display, an Intel Shelton CPU with speeds ranging from 1.0GHz to 1.6GHz, a 2.5" HDD or SSD, 1GB RAM and a seven hour battery life, with either Linux or Windows as an OS. There is no information about when this is likely to become available, but prices are expected to be between €299 ($458) and €699 ($1072) depending on which model you go for.

Taiwan-based Micro-Star International is preparing a 2GB GeForce 9600 GT version in addition to the five 9 series cards already released. The upcoming card features Quimonda memory chips and has a red PCB plus dual-slot cooler. In addition to the extra memory the card also comes with a DisplayPort connector. The 2GB-equipped card will be clocked at 650MHz, 1625MHz and 1800MHz for the GPU, Shaders and memory. Expect it to become available soon.

MSI has taken a step to try and reduce computer power consumption slightly by building a processor fan that is powered using only heat given off by the CPU. As the processor heats up, it causes air inside a piston to expand. That forces out the piston rod, which in turn causes the fan to spin and blow air over the heatsink, as shown in the first image below. This then helps to cool the air inside the piston, causing it to contract again, pulling the piston rod back in and cooling the CPU without needing any extra electricity. The technology is by no means a modern idea - it uses a mechanism invented in 1816 by Scottish engineer Robert Stirling - but it's never before been used on a large scale for computing purposes. MSI's fan is capable of converting 70% of the heat energy given off by the CPU into kinetic energy, and the company plans to demo the cooler at next week's CeBIT show in Hanover. However, there is no news of when this fan will become available for purchase, or what prices will be like.

Micro-Star International (MSI) today launched its latest X48 Series motherboards based on Intel X48 Express chipset. Coming in two versions: X48 Platinum DDR3 only and X48C Platinum DDR3 & DDR2 combo, these new motherboards feature "Dual-Channel PWM", enhanced fanless cooling design "Circu-Pipe" and numerous exclusive features such as Quad graphics slots, MSI SkyTel VoIP, and all Made-in-Japan solid capacitors. Water-cooling versions of the boards are also set to come in the future.

Motherboard maker Micrso-Star International (MSI) is preparing its first EFI BIOS-equipped motherboard, the P35-Neo3. To mark the occasion, it has presented a few details about EFI and its benefits over BIOS. EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface) is an upgraded BIOS specification created by Intel. EFI supports graphical menus and features, mouse-controlled interface, multiple languages, LAN activating environment and pre-boot applications. MSI's P35-Neo3 is set to be released next month.

Micro-Star International (MSI) is preparing to introduce a low-cost PC product line in June at the earliest. The first low-cost PCs from the company will be built on Intel's 45nm Shelton processor, and will come with a 7-inch panel and Linux support. Initial pricing is set at around NT$10,000 (US$308). Another model which runs on Windows XP is still under testing. Besides the first models built on Intel processors, MSI is also in talks with AMD about a potential partnership. The company also noted that it may either postpone or hold off its launch schedule if demand fails to reach expectations during the first half of 2008.

Following VVIKOO's 1GB offering, Micro-Star International (MSI) has now announced its very own NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT Series GPU (NX8800GT) with 1GB of GDDR3 memory. The new video card offers double the amount of memory of a regular 8800 GT and features non-reference cooling solution that is very similar if not identical to that of the 8800 GTS 512. No word on card release date and pricing.

Later today NVIDIA will finally release the new nForce 780i and 750i chipsets and one of the first manufacturers to answer the call for new hardware is MSI. What Micro-Star International has prepared are the P7N Diamond and the P7N SLI Platinum motherboards. The nForce 780i-powered Diamond and the 750i-boasting Platinum both feature MSI's Circu-Pipe cooling systems and come with full support for Intel's 45nm Core 2 processors (Yorkfields and Wolfdales), DDR2-1066 support and SLI. The higher-end P7N Diamond is triple-SLI ready and features no less than four PCI-Express x16 slots, while the Platinum board is equipped with three PCI-Express x16 slots, but supports only dual-card setups. Both boards feature solid capacitors and support eSATA but are separated by the number of SATA ports (6 for the Diamond, 4 for the Platinum) and Ethernet interfaces (two on the Diamond). The two new boards are set to hit the stores soon.

Zalman's cooling solutions are pretty popular among graphic card manufacturers and the latest confirmation for this is Micro-Star International (MSI) and its new Zilent Series. The new family of video cards only includes one product for starters, the MSI NX8800GT Zilent Series, a GeForce 8800 GT card equipped with a VF1000 cooler that has aluminum fins (as opposed to the regular VF1000 which is all-copper). The new dual-slot cooled card is said to be 9% cooler and 20% quieter than the standard GT's. No price tag and release data have been unveild.

MSI, a leading manufacturer of computer products, proudly unveils its latest MSI NX8800GTS Series graphics card, base on NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS Series GPU. MSI announces that it has prepared two GeForce 8800GT 256MB graphics cards that will be priced at $200 and lower. Both the NX8800GT-T2D256E and the NX8800GT-T2D256E-OC are based on NVIDIA's reference design but will have an ATI-theme to them with the red PCB. The stock card will be running default reference speed while the overclocked edition will be running 660MHz (core), 1650MHz (shader), and 1900MHz (memory).

Micro-Star International (MSI), one of the leaders in mainboard manufacturing, is launching today its latest X38 Diamond mainboard based on Intel X38 Express chipset and DDR3 structure.

ASUS Republic of Gamers motherboards will be getting some competition soon as MSI is planning to release the HydroGenX38. The upcoming motherboard will feature Intel's X38 chipset and it will come with a cooling system made by Watercool.de that will cool north bridge, south bridge and the PWM area. The HydroGenX38 will actually come in two flavours: a DDR3-only version that will be released first, followed by a 'Combo' version that will come with support for both DDR3 and DDR2 memory. The rest of the specs look the same for both boards: 4x PCIe 2.0 slots (2x 16 lanes, 2x 4 lanes), 7x SATA 3.0 Gbps ports, 2x Ethernet cards, 2x eSATA ports, 1x IDE connector, 8x USB 2.0 ports and integrated Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio soundcard. The DDR3-only HydroGenX38 is expected to cost around 379 euros.

MSI Announces Motherboards and Server Barebones Supporting AMD Quad-Core Opteron

Along with the new generation AMD Opteron processors (code-named Barcelona), MSI has launched its new server products - K9NU Speedster server board and K1-106 rack server.

Based around the nForce 3400 chipset, K9NU-Speedster Series motherboards and K1-106 Series server barebones support single AMD Opteron 2200 series quad-core processors. K9NU-Speedster Series also provide memory bandwidth up to 8.5GB/s (DDR2-533) or 10.5GB/s (DDR2-667). XGI Volari Z7 graphic processor with 16MB video memory can meet users' needs without adding a graphics adapter. However, both motherboards have two PCI-E x16 slot supporting NVIDIA SLI technology for future expansion.

MSI today released a press release to list its AM2+ compatible motherboard line-up. The lists includes boards powered by the AMD 690G IGP and NVIDIA's mainstream nForce 560 and nForce 520, but it also unveils the new, unreleased chipsets from both AMD and NVIDIA. While AMD's RD790 and 780 have already been rumored and showcased, NVIDIA's nForce 780a and 750a have not been announced by NVIDIA and have only been known as the MPC78 series. The 780a is set to power the K9N2 Diamond while the 750a will be featured on the K9N2 SLI Platinum. Tha last, yet unnamed chipset, the MCP78D is rumored to be a new IGP part with similar features as its bigger brothers.

While Intel is preparing to move on to a 45nm micro-architecture, AMD is preparing true quad-core processors, and working on a quad-graphics card solution. The technology that will allow for four graphics cards to be stuck in one system will be called "QuadFire", and there are no major details out at this time, other than the name and pictures of supporting motherboards. The chipset supporting "QuadFire" is AMD's own RD790, which is pictured below in MSI's K9A2 motherboard. The RD790 is designed to work with a Phenom processor, has six SATA ports, and two E-SATA ports.

MSI unveiled yesterday its latest GeForce 8600GT graphics card equipped with dual BIOS, or as MSI calls it vBIOS. The latest MSI NX8600GT Twin Turbo, has two separate BIOS chips on-board which carry two dedicated GPU/Shader/Memory clock settings. Users only have to press a hardware button on the back of the card, and then the new (higher) clock setting can be applied without re-flashing the vBIOS chip. Also, these two vBIOS chips can be useful if the card is preflashed with wrong BIOS version. Depending on the mode you choose (normal or turbo) the video card clocks at 540/580MHz core, 1450/1508MHz shader and 1400/1600MHz memory clocks respectively. The MSI GeForce 8600GT Twin Turbo features 256MB DDR3 128-bit memory and PCI-e interface.

While the P35 chipset has spawned a lot of high-end board, Intel's X38 part was actually meant to be used in the ultra high-end. MSI is one of the first to jump the gun, with a detailed picture of the upcoming flagship Intel based product. The interesting aspect are the four PCIe slots for Quad Crossfire.
