Gigabyte Quietly Launches Low Profile GeForce RTX 4060 Graphics Card

Low profile graphics cards have always been something of a niche market, but they've found homes in many HTPC builds over the years, especially passively cooled cards. Now Gigabyte has launched a rather odd looking low profile NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 based graphics card that simply goes under the name of GeForce RTX 4060 OC Low Profile 8G. The 182 x 69 x 40 (D x H x W) mm card still manages to pack in three fans and requires an 8-pin power connector to work, which somewhat unfortunately plugs in at the rear of the card, although there wouldn't have been too many other locations to place it. This means that this card might not work in some Mini-ITX builds, due to the card being too long once the power connector is plugged in.

The card width should've given away that we're looking at a dual slot card, which is also pretty obvious from the pictures. Gigabyte provides a full height and a low profile bracket with the card, which not all low profile cards have shipped with in the past, so this is a plus. Connectivity wise, the GeForce RTX 4060 OC Low Profile 8G comes with two DP 1.4a and two HDMI 2.1a ports, making this a card well suited for HTPC usage. Gigabyte has even overclocked the GPU from 2460 MHz to 2475 MHz, which seems quite pointless and is unlikely to bring any huge performance advantages over stock clock speeds.

Update Aug 24th: During a recent meeting with Gigabyte we had a chance to go hands-on with their new RTX 4060 Low Profile card, here's some photos.

GIGABYTE Brings AMD A620 Chipset to the Mini-ITX Form-factor

GIGABYTE unveiled the first Mini-ITX motherboard to feature the entry-level AMD A620 chipset. The UD-A620I-X offers a comprehensive I/O feature-set. The board draws power from a 24-pin ATX and a single 8-pin EPS, and uses a 9-phase VRM to power the SoC. This board is restricted to 65 W TDP processors (7600, 7700, 7900 and possibly Ryzen PRO desktop processors that are 65 W). The processor is wired to two DDR5 DIMM slots, and a PCI-Express 4.0 x16, which is really all you need for this generation of graphics cards.

A downside of the A620 platform is that it doesn't support PCIe Gen 5 on even the CPU-attached M.2 NVMe slots—the one on this board is Gen 4. Display connectivity on the UD-A620I includes an HDMI and DisplayPort. Networking interfaces include Wi-Fi 6 wireless, and 2.5 GbE wired. Storage connectivity, besides the Gen 4 NVMe slot, includes two SATA 6 Gbps ports. You get at least two USB 3.2 ports from the processor, four USB 3.2 type-A ports on the rear I/O, an internal type-E port (for security keys), and an internal USB 3.2 header. The company didn't reveal pricing.

ASUS Readying Intel Processor N100 Mini-ITX Motherboard

Details of ASUS' upcoming Prime N100I-D D4 Mini-ITX motherboard has made an appearance in official pictures posted over at Fanlesstech, although the board was apparently shown at Computex. The interesting part here is that it's under ASUS' Prime branding, which suggests that this will be a retail product, rather than something that would only be available to OEM partners. The Intel Processor N100 is a quad core 3.4 GHz chip based on Intel's Alder Lake-N and it has a 6 W TDP, which means it can be passively cooled.

Although the SoC supports DDR4 and DDR5 memory, at least for this specific SKU, ASUS went with DDR4 support in the shape of a single SO-DIMM slot which accepts up to 3200 MHz memory. The board also sports a single PCIe 3.0 x2 M.2 slot, an M.2 slot for an optional WiFi module, a PCIe 3.0 x1 slot and a single SATA connector and a USB 3.0 header. The odd thing here is that the SoC supports a total of nine PCIe lanes, but ASUS only appears to have made use of four of them. Around the back is a pair of 10 Gbps USB Type-A ports, a pair of 5 Gbps USB Type-A ports and two USB 2.0 ports, a PS/2 port, a serial port, a D-Sub VGA connector, a DisplayPort and an HDMI port of unknown version—although the SoC supports DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.1—a Gigabit Ethernet jack and three audio jacks.

EK Shows Off 977EK Concept Case in Partnership with InWin

During Computex 2023, EK Water Blocks, a company known for making all kinds of liquid cooling solutions, showed off a concept case in partnership with InWin. Called 977EK, the concept case is a pre-production model that centers around the idea of a brushed aluminium shell combined with tempered glass panels. The case is made out of the internal structure, and for the outside, the two brushed aluminium sheets meet in the back and at the bottom of the case, removing the visible lines of the 4 mm thick aluminium sheets meeting, improving aesthetics. On the sides, the case carries two tempered glass panels held by thumb screws in the corners. An odd shape perforates the top part of the aluminium sheet.

The internal structure is interesting, as the case is built for water cooling of the system. While the motherboard tray can support any format from Mini-ITX to E-ATX, the tray itself can be rotated, reversed, and removed entirely based on user preference. For radiator setup, the 977EK concept case can accommodate up to 420 mm radiators with 45 mm thickness at both the top and bottom of the chassis. ASUS ROG Strix X670E-I Chipset Sits on a M.2 PCB

AMD's high-end X670E motherboard chipset combines two Promontory 21 chips working together to deliver a single solution. With regularly-sized ATX motherboards, having two chips to form a chipset is fine, as there is much room on the PCB. However, with Mini-ITX motherboards, packing two Promontory 21 chips is difficult as the PCB area is limited. To combat this, ASUS introduced an interesting solution to solve the problem and allowed the company to ship the high-end X670E chipset inside a Mini-ITX form factor. Thanks to UNIKO's Hardware's findings, we look at the exciting solution ASUS used to solve this problem.

Instead of two Promontory 21 chips side by side, one is placed on the motherboard directly, while the other stands vertically attached by M.2 PCIe slot. Below, the chipset's pictures and the highlight show how it looks disassembled.

Leaked MSI Intel B760 Chipset Motherboard Pricing Puts them Between $170-$230

At CES, Intel is expected to launch the bulk of its 13th Gen Core "Raptor Lake" processor family, consisting of "locked" 65 W SKUs; along with two cheaper motherboard chipset options than the Z790—the B760 and H770. The Bx60 chipset options are sought after by the mainstream desktop crowd that likes to buy value sub-$250 processor SKUs, but over the years, motherboard manufacturers have been upscaling Bx60 chipset with premium onboard components, to target the crowd that likes to buy the upper tier of 65 W SKUs (think Core i5-13600, i7-13700, or the top i9-13900 non-K). With the 700-series chipset, however, it looks like the price for entry for the platform has just gone up. The cheapest MSI motherboard based on the B760 chipset, according to a leaked price-list, is USD $170, for a PRO-series motherboard SKU that's usually considered entry-level for MSI.

The MSI PRO B760M-A WiFi DDR4 Micro-ATX motherboard, according to this price-list, goes for $170, followed by the PRO B760-P WiFi DDR4 (ATX form-factor) at $180. From here begins MSI's Gaming series motherboards. There are as many as four MAG Mortar SKUs. At $180, you get the MAG B760M Mortar DDR4. At $190 you get the MAG B760M Mortar (DDR5) and MAG B760M Mortar DDR4 WiFi; followed by the MAG B760M Mortar WiFi (DDR5) at $200. With this series, MSI is introducing a couple of MAG Mortar MAX SKUs, which probably feature better VRM or onboard audio. The DDR4 version is priced at $220, and the DDR5 version at $230. Moving a notch up, we have the popular MAG Tomahawk SKUs, with the DDR4 version at $220, and the DDR5 version at $230. The only MPG series SKU is also the lineup's only Mini-ITX one—the MPG B760I Edge WiFi DDR4, priced at $210.

Such as a spacious interior supporting NVIDIA RTX 4000 and AMD Ryzen 7000 series GPU, excellent cable management, tempered glass for RGB lighting, and maximized ventilation across six cooling fans and two 240 mm radiators. In short, HUSSAR is designed to be practically compact but powerful enough for modern gaming PC builds. " said Frank Lee, the VP of YEYIAN.
