EA Introduces Cliffhanger Games - Working on a Triple-A Black Panther Title with Marvel

As we celebrate the 57th anniversary of Black Panther's comic debut this July, we're thrilled to announce Cliffhanger Games, a new triple-A development studio based in Seattle, is working on an original, third-person, single-player Black Panther game in collaboration with Marvel Games. Our mission is to build an expansive and reactive world that empowers players to experience what it is like to take on the mantle of Wakanda's protector, the Black Panther.

Led by Kevin Stephens (ex-Monolith Productions), Cliffhanger has already brought together accomplished talent with leaders from the critically acclaimed and innovative action-adventure game, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, along with veterans of top franchises including Halo Infinite, God of War, Call of Duty and others. "We're dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game. Wakanda is a rich Super Hero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do," said Kevin.

IBM Announces the Cyber Vault Flash Storage System Resilient to Ransomware and other Cyber Attacks

IBM today unveiled IBM FlashSystem Cyber Vault to help companies better detect and recover quickly from ransomware and other cyberattacks. The company also announced new FlashSystem storage models, based on IBM Spectrum Virtualize to provide a single and consistent operating environment, that are designed to increase cyber resilience and application performance within a hybrid cloud environment.

According to the IBM Cyber Resilient Organization study, 46 percent of respondents surveyed reported experiencing a ransomware attack over the past two years. With cyberattacks continuing to grow, and with average recovery time lasting days or even weeks, business and reputational risks are unprecedented. Even with prevention and detection tactics in place, organizations also must be ready to recover their operations quickly to minimize loss of business and other costs.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War Microtransactions to be Pulled - Permanently

In another case of new, obnoxious revenue streams being removed from games they were shipped in, Monolith Studios has come forth to announce that their hit sequel, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War will see its microtransactions cut. Implemented via War Chests, Shadow of War's microtransactions traded real money (after in-game Gold was acquired) for what were basically lootboxes, which could earn players powerful companions and other gameplay-boosting items. These features, including the in-game market, will be rolled-out eventually via a slew of free updates to the game, which aim to improve quality of life for gamers on the title, paired with some campaign improvements that will set its Nemesis system back, front and center, on the pedestal it should always have been.
