COUGAR Releases First 80 PLUS BRONZE Digital PSU

COUGAR, a leading player in the computer gaming hardware market, announces today the release of its first 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Digital Power Supply Unit, the COUGAR CMD Digital Power Supply Unit. Its arrival marks a radical change for Digital PSUs, freeing them from their current status of niche product and putting digital power in the right direction towards becoming the mainstream option for PC gaming. This is due to the emphasis on practical functionality put during its development, which has led to a product whose specifications all target real user needs.

The basis of the CMD is the state of the art technology and quality materials COUGAR is already well known for in the PSU market. On top of this, COUGAR has implemented its newly developed Digital Power technology and integrated it with the COUGAR UIX Device management system. The Digital Power technology brings a broad range of functions to CMD that will assist the user mainly in two areas: the electric supply of the computer and its temperature and cooling. Those two areas have been chosen because they are especially relevant for gamers.

ENERMAX Introduces the World's 1st Digital Fanless Power Supply

The DIGIFANLESS 550W is the first digital and fanless power supply from ENERMAX. Based on a performance-capable passive cooling system, DIGIFANLESS allows for a completely silent PC operation (0db(A)). Latest ENERMAX technology and durable, high-quality components allow for a rock-stable and energy-efficient operation with 93% peak efficiency (80 PLUS Platinum certified). The fanless PSU is equipped with a digital interface to read out and control the most essential power values via the brand-new ZDPMS software from ENERMAX (for example voltage, current, efficiency or temperature). Last, but not least, the new flagship power supply provides a flexible full-modular cable management with precious, individually sleeved wires.

ENERMAX introduces the brand new ZDPMS (Zero Delay Power Monitor System) for most comfortable and precise PSU monitoring and control. The easy and instinct user interface (UI) informs about the system power consumption, efficiency, temperature, output voltage and ampere. For systems which have special 12V loading requirements, such as overclocking or test platforms, DIGIFANLESS allows users or system engineers/FAE to fine tune the 12V output voltage within +/- 3% regulation, and switch between 12V single or dual rail mode. In case of critical temperatures, voltages or currents, the ZDPMS software displays warning messages, so that the user can take precautionary measures to avoid a system shut down. The OVP and OCP warning point can be set individually. Finally, ZDPMS comes with an energy consumption calculator. Just input your regional average electricity fare and CO2 footprint profile, and the software will estimate the system electricity cost and CO2 emission factor.

SilverStone Announces SX500-LG Power Supply

For small form factor enthusiasts, the standard SFX power supply form factor has excellent combination of size, power, and affordability. At 100mm deep, however, the standard SFX PSU is also limited in fan size to 80mm. While advances in engineering and components have made modern high-end SFX PSUs quieter than ever, there is still inherent limitation with 80mm fan's ability to dissipate heat at maximum loading conditions while maintaining satisfactory noise profile for users sensitive to higher-pitch sounds. With this in mind, SilverStone has released a "lengthened" variation of the SFX form factor called, SFX-L. With 30mm of added depth, a SFX-L power supply has enough room to fit a 120mm fan, thus its maximum load noise can be not only lower in intensity (via slower fan speed), but also lower in pitch (due to larger fan size).

The first model to debut in the SFX-L will be the SX500-LG, a 500W model that includes all features available from top of the line SFX SilverStone PSUs such as 80 PLUS Gold efficiency, modular flexible flat cables, and semi-fanless capability. An ATX adapter bracket is included as well to enable users to install this PSU into any small or even larger cases that do not have SFX mounting holes.

Streacom Announces ZeroFlex 240W Fanless Power Supply

Streacom is pleased to announce the ZF240 (ZeroFlex), a 240W, no fan, no noise, internal PSU that is based on the Flex form factor. The challenge has always been to supply high power, not only in a small package but also without any active cooling. To do this we have used extremely high quality components and developed an innovative power circuit that is more that 93% efficient. 240W may not seem a lot, but to put things into perspective, if this PSU had active cooling, it could easily run at 450W, and its still less than half the size of a standard ATX PSU.

Even with the high levels of efficiency, heat is inevitable, which is why we have the unique 'L' bracket which connects the PSU directly to the case heatsink, and is designed to dissipate the heat outside the chassis. The AC socket is also mounted on a cable instead of being fixed to the body of the PSU, allowing for flexible positioning and more innovative future case designs.
