Cooler Master Unveils its First mini LED Displays with Quantum Dot Technology

It would appear that high-end displays are all the rage this year and Cooler Master has just joined the fray with the GP27-FUS and the GP27-FQS, a pair of mini LED based displays. Both models sport Quantum Dot technology which helps enhance the colour gamut of the displays. Cooler Master claims to support 100 percent Adobe 97 percent DCI-P3 and 83 percent BT2020 coverage, which should make these displays great for both work and play, if you're after a colour accurate display.

The main difference between the two models is that the GP27-FQS sports an Innolux AAS panel with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, whereas the GP27-FUS has an AHVA panel from AUO with a 3840 x 2160 resolution. The GP27-FQS offers a refresh rate of 165 Hz, with the GP27-FUS trailing slightly behind at 160 Hz, but they have a common 1 ms response time. Both displays feature HDR1000 certification, with SDR brightness of up to 600 nits and peak HDR brightness of up to 1200 nits. Alienware Demos 34-inch QD-OLED Monitor at CES

Although Samsung apparently wasn't ready to show off its rumoured 34-inch QD-OLED monitor at CES, Alienware stepped up and demonstrated a fully working model that is said to be launching as soon as the 29th of March in the US market. The Alienware 34 Curved QD-LED Gaming Monitor or the AW3423DW as it's also known as, uses a curved QD-OLED panel from Samsung, with QD standing for Quantum Dot, a technology used to boost colours in various types of display panels.

The Alienware 34 Curved QD-LED Gaming Monitor offers a resolution of 3440x1440, which gives it an aspect ratio of 21:9. It's said to feature Nvidia's G-Sync Ultimate, with refresh rates of up to 175 Hz over DP and 100 Hz over HDMI. It has a typical brightness of only 250 cd/m², but as this is an HDR capable display, this can go as high as 1000 cd/m² in HDR mode. The monitor sports one DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.0 ports and three USB 3.2 ports at 5 Gbps, as well as a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a line-out jack. No word on pricing as yet, but it would be silly to presume this will be a cheap monitor.

ASUS Announces the ROG Swift PG329Q Monitor: 32" Fast IPS, Quantum Dot, 2560 x 1440, 175 Hz, 1 ms, HDR 600

ASUS at its Asia ROG event announced a new monitor, approaching stores and shores (eventually). The ROG Swift PG329Q is being launched with a "Super Kill" marketing line, which aims to showcase just how impressive this monitor will be in aiding users' gaming capabilities. The ROG Swift PG329Q features a 32" "Fast IPS" panel - fast IPS here meaning that it's capable of running at 175 Hz whilst keeping a 1 ms Gray-to-Gray response time - all of this with IPS' renowned color rendition.

The monitor features a sane 2560 x 1440 resolution and HDR 600 certification from VESA, and thanks to the usage of Quantum Dot tech, will be able to offer 98% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and 160% sRGB ultra-wide color gamut coverage. The monitor supports Adaptive Sync tech (whether via FreeSync or G-Sync compatible), as well as ASUS' ELMB SYNC technology. There's also the usual RGB tech going on in the back of the monitor. MSI Announces the Optix PAG272 Monitor Family With Four Models - One of Them With Quantum Dot

MSI today announced the release of not one, not two, but four monitors to their Optix lineup, under the Optix PAG272 family. These monitors aim to cater to all budgets, apparently, as their features vary across resolution and refresh rates according to the model number. RGB lighting on the back of the monitors is stock across the lineup. Starting from the top-down in terms of specs, the Optix PAG272URV features a 27", IPS panel sporting 4K resolution, 60 Hz refresh rate, a 4 ms GtG response time, FreeSync (non-Premium), and VESA Display HDR 400 certification. I/O is taken care of by 2x HDMI (1.4), 1x HDMI (2.0) and 1x DisplayPort (1.2).

That's not the most impressive display, though - that honor is reserved for the Optix PAG272QR2. The Optix PAG272QR2 features a 27", IPS panel sporting 1440p resolution, 165 Hz refresh rate, a 1 ms GtG response time, FreeSync Premium, and an HDR-ready badge (with maximum brightness set at 300 nits). I/O is taken care of by 2x HDMI (2.0) and 2x DisplayPort (1.4). The more interesting spec in this panel, though, is the addition of a Quantum Dot layer, which greatly improves color rendition: MSI claim 10 bit colors (8 bit + FRC) with 150% of the sRGB color gamut coverage, alongside 99% of the Adobe RGB color gamut, and 98% of the DCI-P3 color space, which makes this an interesting panel not only for gaming, but also for color-sensitive tasks.

NVIDIA's BFGD Solutions Delayed to Q1 2019, Will Cost an Awful Penny

NVIDIA's BFGD solutions (Big Format Gaming Display) are meant to become the ultimate gaming graphics display solution for gamers. their 4K resolution and 120 Hz refresh rates with G-Sync support are meant to become the baseline for smoothness in gaming scenarios, and the 1000 NITS peak brightness is meant to make HDR images that are relevant - differing from other, less "refined", shall we say, implementations. However, the hardware specs for these systems are high, parts are expensive and difficult to procure, and the process of integrating so much technology (including Quantum Dot tech and NVIDIA Shield) seems to be giving integrators a hard time.
