ASUS Teases Upcoming G Series Notebooks Powered by "Pascal" GPUs

ASUS teased an upcoming Republic of Gamers G-Series notebook. It didn't stop at the teaser pics, and went on to tease performance numbers of the untitled "GXXX" graphics processor at the heart of this beast. We'll go out on a limb here and guess that it's a new mobile GPU based on the "Pascal" architecture; more so because ASUS is claiming that it's faster than even the desktop GeForce GTX TITAN X, and has 3DMark 11 Performance-present score to show for that. ASUS plans to exhibit the notebook at the 2016 Computex; and it's becoming increasingly clear that the third GP104-based SKU promised for June 2016 could be a mobile chip after all.

ASUS Announces the ROG Sheath Deskpad

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced ROG Sheath, an extra-large mouse pad optimized for all kinds of gaming mice. ROG Sheath features a woven surface that gives it excellent mouse tracking qualities for smooth, precise control. Designed for the marathon gaming sessions, ROG Sheath has a non-slip ROG-red rubber base that secures it firmly to any desktop surface, and stitched edges that resist fraying.

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced the Horus GK2000 mechanical gaming keyboard. It has a built-in 32-bit micro-programmed control unit (MCU) and 4 MB of onboard memory, plus an intuitive ROG user interface that allows users to customize macro and function keys for complex multi-key commands with just a single keystroke. ROG Horus GK2000 has a premium, high-quality feel and has CNC-processed aluminum accents with a special topcoat finish. It also features a removable palm rest, 2-way adjustable feet, and a detachable stand for mobile devices.

Built-in 32-bit control unit
ROG Horus GK2000 has an embedded 32-bit MCU and 4 MB of onboard memory that processes and stores macro functions as well as lighting and profile settings. Users can program up to 80 macro commands for mouse, PC, and media-control functions. They can also program the keyboard to initiate complex multi-key commands with one keystroke. A total of 10 user profiles can be stored in the onboard memory, and users can simply drag and drop profile settings saved on their PCs to transfer them to the keyboard.

ASUS Intros Maximus VIII Hero Alpha, Featuring Native RGB LED Headers

ASUS announced the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Maximus VIII Hero Alpha. This socket LGA1151 motherboard, based on Intel Z170 Express chipset, is what the company claims to be the first with native support for multi-color RGB LED headers. The board features an RGB LED controller with a Windows app that lets you set RGB color lighting across two independent 4-pin headers (typically connected to RGB LED strips). The ROG "eye" logo on the PCH heatsink features an RGB LED, too, and the app lets you set even that. ASUS' reference LED strip for this board, named AURA, can be purchased separately.

The rest of the board's feature-set is similar to the original Maximus VIII Hero. You get a powerful 10-phase CPU VRM, four DDR4 DIMM slots, and two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots feeding in and out of the CPU socket. The storage connectivity does away with bulky SATA-Express connectors, replacing them with two U.2 16 Gb/s connectors, sitting next to six SATA 6 Gb/s ports. USB 3.1 10 Gb/s ports, including type-C and type-A ports, sitting next to 802.11 ac WLAN, are a highlight in the feature-set. Expect the board to be priced slightly higher than the original Maximus VIII Hero.

Lian Li Outs ASUS ROG-Certified PC-Q17 Mini-ITX Case

Lian Li released the PC-Q17, an ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) co-branded, mini-ITX tower-type case, designed to go well with the ROG Maximus Impact line of premium mini-ITX motherboards. The case retains the sharp-edge design language of the ROG brand, with a sloped brushed-aluminium front, a trapezoid side-profile, and a faux-sloped rear panel. The side is characterized with a large acrylic window held to the case by four thumb-screws, which doubles up as the overall side-panel. A large, glowing ROG logo decks up its unique drive/PSU cage.

The PC-Q17 features a unique drive-bay arrangement, with a front drive bay that's arranged along the front panel, opening up to the top. This can be used to house either a slot-in type slimline optical drive, a 3.5-inch drive, or a 2.5-inch drive. Behind it, where you'd normally expect a stack of 3.5-inch bays, is the ATX-type PSU bay, with an AC cord leading to the rear panel AC receptacle. Behind this PSU bay are two 2.5-inch drive mounts. Two additional 3.5-inch mounts along the bottom panel of the case complete its drive bay loadout.

This card features the shortest PCB among all of ASUS' GTX 980 Ti offerings. Next up, is the GTX 980 Ti MATRIX. This Bonafide ROG-branded product, with its matte red+black color-scheme, a meatier dual-fan DirectCU II cooler than the one featured on the STRIX, a stronger VRM, and the ROG badging, should make it appeal to the ROG (premium gamer-overclocker) crowd. Expect this card to ship with a >20% factory OC. A slightly faster, limited-edition variant of this card, with its gold cooler shroud, will also be available. ASUS Announces the ROG GR8S Steam Machine

A fusion between PC hardware giant ASUS' Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand, and Valve's Steam Machines, was bound to happen. With the new ROG GR8S, ASUS has taken a plunge into the exciting new gaming platform that bridges living room gaming consoles, and full-blown gaming PCs, backed by Steam. The ROG GR8S is roughly as big as a modern console such as Xbox One, but features ASUS' signature red and black ROG product design.

ASUS Announces GeForce GTX 980 ROG Matrix Platinum

ASUS announced its flagship single-GPU graphics card based on the GeForce GTX 980 chip, the Republic of Gamers (ROG) MATRIX Platinum. This is the company's third factory-overclocked and custom-designed GTX 980 offering, after the GTX 980 Poseidon, and the GTX 980 Strix OC. The card features a signature ROG-themed air cooling solution, with a high-density fin-stack heatsink, to which heat drawn from the GPU are fed by 10 mm-thick heat pipes, and cooled by two fans, one of which is an ASUS-designed CoolTech hybrid fan, which pushes air both laterally, and axially.

The PCB of the GTX 980 ROG Matrix, features a strong 14-phase VRM, which powers not just the GPU and memory, but also an ASUS-exclusive "defroster" circuit, which is essentially a resistive trace running through key areas of the card, which heats up, preventing frost formation, when the card is under LN2 cooling. As expected, this card comes factory-overclocked, and while ASUS didn't reveal the core clock, its GPU Boost frequency is a staggering 1342 MHz. The memory is untouched, at 7.00 GHz. Other features include a color-coded load indicator, ROG-themed GPU Tweak utility, and a back-plate. ASUS didn't reveal pricing details.
