ASRock Intros Calpella-based Core 100HT/BD Entertainment PCs

ASRock introduced two of its latest entertainment nettops, the Core 100HT and Core 100HT/BD. Unlike older models from ASRock in this category which were based on the NVIDIA ION platform, these use the much faster Intel Calpella mobile platform, making these SFF PCs. ASUS Expands TUF Series with Sabertooth X58 Motherboard

ASUS is also planning to expand its TUF series motherboard lineup with the Sabertooth X58. This socket LGA-1366 uses the design model of the TUF series, which includes 2 oz copper layered PCB, a choice of high-grade components, and CeraMX ceramic surface heatsinks that have greater heat dissipation area. These give the board higher thermal limits, making it suitable for operation in really hot places (or simply turning that into overclocking headroom in cooler places).

The CPU is powered by an 8+2 phase VRM, wired to six DIMM slots for triple channel memory. Expansion slots include three PCI-Express x16, two PCI-E x1, and one PCI. Apart from the six SATA 3 Gb/s ports, there are two 6 Gb/s ones. Other connectivity features include USB 3.0, gigabit Ethernet, 8-channel audio and FireWire. Expect this model to be priced in the league of premium ones.

ASUS Packs a Load Onto Mini-ITX for AMD Users

ASUS is ready with a feature-packed socket AM3 motherboard in the mini-ITX form-factor, based on the AMD 880G + SB710 chipset. The ASUS M4A88T-I Deluxe, as it is called, supports AM3 processors, probably with a TDP limited at 95W or 125W, and supports up to 8 GB of dual-channel DDR3 memory using SODIMMs (laptop memory). It far from stops here. The 880G chipset packs a DirectX 10.1 compliant ATI Radeon HD 4290 graphics, complete with SidePort memory and HD video acceleration features. The SB710 gives out five SATA 3 Gb/s ports on this board, of which three are internal, and two eSATA. The lone expansion slot is a PCI-Express 2.0 x16.

Connectivity includes 6-channel HD audio with optical and coaxial SPDIF output, WiFi b/g/n, gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, and display connectivity which includes DVI and HDMI (with 7.1 channel HDMI audio). The SB710 comes with the unintended functionality of unlocking disabled cores on some processors.

ASUS Shows Off ROG Rampage III Gene Motherboard

ASUS showed off its latest high-end motherboard, and latest entry into its premium Republic of Gamers line, the Rampage III Gene. The "Gene" identifier tells that the board is of the micro-ATX form-factor, while Rampage III is the latest series of socket LGA1366 motherboards based on the Intel X58 Express chipset. Compared to the Rampage II, Rampage III embraces latest technologies as well as ASUS innovations, this includes support for USB 3.0, SATA 6 Gb/s, and ASUS ROG Connect, to name a few. Renesas Electronics Collaborates with AMD to Accelerate Promotion of USB 3.0 Standard

Renesas Electronics Corporation, a premiere provider of advanced semiconductor solutions, today announced its collaboration with AMD to promote the new SuperSpeed Universal Serial Bus (USB 3.0) standard.

In December 2009, Renesas Electronics (formerly NEC Electronics Corporation) released its USB Attached SCSI Protocol (UASP) driver, supporting the new industry-standard, highly efficient mass-storage protocol suitable for use on SuperSpeed USB to overcome the performance boundaries of the Bulk Only Transfer (BOT) protocol. The new UASP driver will be used with Renesas Electronics' USB 3.0 xHCI (eXtensible Host Controller Interface) host controller, which entered the market as the world's first USB 3.0 host controller in June 2009. Having shipped over three million units of the host controller, as a dedicated promoter of USB 3.0 standard, Renesas Electronics is now targeting monthly production of two million units starting April 2010 and aims to continually contribute to advancement and standardization of USB.

However, on the front they have a larger intake fan, 140mm running at 1000RPM. Additionally, the front fan on the 7FNWX & 60FNWX is lighted with blue LEDs. On the backside of the 7FNWX and 60FNWX are two, rubber-lined holes, allowing for a liquid cooling system.

Available soon, Sapphire is yet to disclose its price.
