Santa Monica Studio, a video game developer, seated in Los Angeles and owned by PlayStation Studios, is the creator of the highly successful game God of War. Today, the company announced that they would be releasing a God of War port for PC owners, entering a whole new market. The PC port of the game will allow thousands of players to enjoy the story of Kratos and his adventures with a considerable boost to graphics. According to a company announcement, the PC port will allow fine-tuning of graphics settings, including a range of new technologies to back it.

Some essential upgrades over the console port include native 4K rendering and an unlimited frame rate. The company stated that the ambient occlusion pipeline had been upgraded with GTAO and SSDO tech, creating unique visuals. In addition to that, the game will feature support for NVIDIA's Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) and Reflex low-latency technology. For controllers, the game will feature support for Sony's DualSense and DualShock4 controllers. And last but not least, ultrawide gamers are in luck as well, as the game will support a 21:9 aspect ratio. The game is going to be available on January 14, 2022, on the Steam storefront.

The world's number one gaming monitor and IT accessories brand AOC has rebranded its entire gaming segment to AGON by AOC. AGON by AOC will cover all gaming-related products in AOC's portfolio, from gaming monitors to gaming headsets, mechanical keyboards, gaming mice, mouse mats and more for gamers of all levels in three categories.

The very first models to be launched under the new name will be from the G3 series as part of the new AOC GAMING category. The five new G3 displays range from 27" (68.6 cm) to 32" (80 cm) to 34" (86.4 cm) diagonal, with all models boasting an aggressive 1000R curvature, a 165 Hz refresh rate as well as a sleek, 3-side borderless design. The curved G3 series will complement and improve upon (with higher refresh rates) but not replace the award-winning G2 series.

Huawei is reportedly preparing an unconventional high-resolution monitor under its MateView brand. Featuring an aspect-ratio of 3:2, the monitor is wider than 4:3 or 5:4, but "taller" than 16:9 or ultrawide ratios. The monitor features an "IPS-like" panel with 4500 x 3000 pixels native resolution, support for 10-bpc color (1.07 billion colors), and a refresh-rate of 90 Hz. You also get DisplayHDR 400 and HDR10 support. Pulling something like this off will presumably take inputs such as HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 1.4 to muster the bandwidth needed for 4500 x 3000 @ 90 Hz with 10-bpc. A nifty feature with this monitor is its stand, which doubles up as a Qi-compatible wireless charging pad. Huawei is reportedly preparing to launch this monitor on May 16.

EIZO Corporation today announced the release of the 37.5-inch FlexScan EV3895 - its first ultrawide, curved monitor. The monitor is developed to reflect the needs and workstyles of professionals working in trading rooms, home trading stations, and back offices. The ultrawide 3840 x 1600 (UWQHD+) resolution affords nearly triple the pixels compared to Full HD so users can freely arrange multiple applications across the vast screen. The closer a user sits to a large monitor, the greater the distance between their eyes and the far edges of the screen. The FlexScan EV3895's gentle concave brings those edges in to a more comfortable distance, improving visibility, focus, and immersion.

The FlexScan EV3895 reflects the needs of enterprises and workplace professionals that require ready-to-use solutions to facilitate multitasking and task switching. The Picture-by-Picture (PbyP) function displays images from up to three video input sources simultaneously, saving the time and hassle of switching between sources when operating more than one computer. Furthermore, users can choose from six predefined layouts to suit their individual workstyle. The monitor's integrated USB Selection function also allows users to use a single mouse and keyboard to operate each PbyP window, eliminating the need for additional peripherals in the workspace.

In the times of growing need for monitors with bigger size, improved connectivity and image quality, display specialist AOC announces the new P2 series monitors for professional users. Covering an extensive range of display sizes from 21.5" (54.7 cm), 23.8" (60.4 cm), 27" (68.6 cm) and ultra-wide 34" (86 cm), AOC acknowledges its users' distinct needs and individual setups. Except for the 34" ultrawide CU34P2A with its curved (1500R) VA panel, all other models are equipped with flat IPS panels. They ensure true-to-life colour reproduction, wide gamut coverage, and wide viewing angles (178/178°) perfectly suited for content creation and editing. Selected models (24P2C and 27P2C) with USB-C port provide an easier display, data and power connection to mobile devices with a single USB-C cable. The KVM switch included in these models allows the user to switch the keyboard and mouse between two PCs (connected via USB-C and USB hub uplink).

LG at its pre-CES show showed off the UltraGear 38GL950G it announced back in September, a 38-inch curved ultrawide monitor that's recommended for motorsport gaming (racing games). With a 21:9 aspect ratio, and WQHD+ (3840 x 1600 pixels) resolution, the 38GL950G offers 144 Hz refresh-rate (up to 175 Hz possible with overclocking), and 1 ms response-time. The monitor is also NVIDIA G-SYNC compatible. The Nano IPS panel provides 98% DCI-P3 coverage and is DisplayHDR 400 certified. Also featured is Sphere Lighting 2.0, the latest version of LG's ambient lighting technology that uses circular RGB LED diffusers behind the panel.

Acer announced the release of another FreeSync monitor to their lineup. The Predator XR343CKP offers a 34", ultrawide, curved IPS panel with a 3440 x 1440 resolution. Being an IPS panel, the 1 ms response time (with MPRT, so, an added blur reduction mode is taken into account for this response time) is a premium specification. It features an up to 100 Hz refresh rate with FreeSync technology enabling variable refreshes without screen tearing.

The panel offers a typical 1,000:1 contrast ratio with a relatively low 350 cd/m² typical brightness, 172/178 viewing angles, 1.07 billion color depth and standard sRGB color gamut. Display Inputs include HDMI, DisplayPort, and 5x USB ports. All of this can be available for the modest amount of $1799... Which isn't at all the number I expected to be quitting based on the specs alone, and looking at other market offerings. But that's what's being shown on Acer's page - though some retailers, such as Amazon Germany, are offering this for some €893 (~$1000), which is much more realistic.

LG at CES 2019 is set to announce two new monitors on its "Ultra" lineup, which includes the UltraWide and UltraGear product lines. The UltraWide is pretty self-explanatory, and will be populated by the 49WL95 monitor, a 49" IPS, dual QHD (5120 x 1440) resolution panel with a 32:9 aspect ratio (there's support for up to three PbP modes simultaneously, thus making this a triple monitor setup, should you so choose). 99% coverage of the sRGB color space ensures faithful color reproduction. There's also support for HDR10 content, though the typical brightness of the monitor stands at 350 nits (peak brightness not disclosed). Connectors stand at 1x USB-C, 2x HDMI 1x DP, and 4x USB 3.0.

The second monitor is on LGs UltraGear lineup. The 38GL950G features LG's Nano IPS technology and support for NVIDIA G-Sync and 144 Hz refresh rate. It has a 38" diagonal across a curved panel, a WQHD+ (3840 x 1600) resolution, and a more standard (or is that less wide?) 21:9 aspect ratio. A typical 450 nits brightness means this monitor also supports HDR content, and connectors include 1x HDMI, 1x DP, and 3x USB 3.0 (1 up / 2 down). If any of these monitor ticks your "I want it now" boxes, you might want to wait until CES for the actual announcement and availability info.

UltraWide AIO
COLORFUL wanted to set the bar high for future AIOs and the onebot is a true masterpiece. Featuring a 49" ultrawide screen with a 32:9 ratio, the length of the screen is the immediate draw for this monster. Deep inside the heart of the onebot S49 concept is also a slew of components that compliment its stature. A Core i3-8100 CPU together with 8GB of DDR4 memory and 256GB of SSD storage power the onebot S49 AIO. GPU options vary and COLORFUL has a full line of NVIDIA GeForce cards to power the onebot.

LG has released a behemoth of a new monitor that aims to deliver the same image quality as a standard 4K panel in a much, much wider package. The 38WK95C is a 37" monitor with a staggeringly wide 24:10 ratio, which delivers its 3840x1600 pixels in an ultrawide field of view that's sure to be a powerhouse of a working environment. There's even FreeSync support, as is the case for many LG monitors, so that users who want to try and catch some gaming can do so at a buttery-smooth frame rate - if they can find some games that get around the ultrawide aspect ratio and can actually play with no distracting graphical glitches, that is.

The panel is an IPS affair with 5 ms gray-to-gray response time and 75 Hz refresh rate - somewhat adequate to the resolution this monitor will be used at. LG does seem to be back at their misleading HDR badges, though, as they claim HDR10 support, despite the fact that brightness is set at a pretty low 300 cd/m² brightness. The bare minimum that AMD considers for an entry-level HDR-capable display is 400 nits of brightness, so LG seems to be merely quoting support for HDR inputs - there's likely no real HDR image quality enhancement at play here. The panel is being quoted as being 10 bit (8-bit+FRC) color capable. As for inputs, there are 1x HDMI 2.0, 1x DisplayPort 1.2 and 1x USB Type-C connectors; the monitor includes 2x 10 W speakers, a headphone jack and 2x USB 3.0 ports, and will enter the market at a $1,499 asking price.

AOC today introduced the AGON AG352UCG6, a 35-inch curved ultrawide gaming monitor. Featuring an 1800R curvature and 21:9 ultrawide aspect-ratio, the monitor offers WideQHD (3440 x 1440 pixels) resolution, with 120 Hz refresh-rate, and support for NVIDIA G-SYNC. Its AMVA panel offers 178°/178° viewing angles. Display inputs include DisplayPort 1.2, and HDMI 1.4. Among its gamer-centric features are genre-specific display presets, headset stand, rear RGB LED diffusers that either work as mood-lighting or whatever you set them to do, a 200-step gray levels saturation setting (think Adobe Photoshop levels control built into your monitor); and a headset mount.

"All hail the ultra-wide gods." This must've been the mantra going on when Samsung execs gave the okay for development of what are being called Double Full HD monitors. This is the new way to have your field of vision almost as filled with screen real estate as when wearing one of those pesky VR headsets. Though with 21:9 support for gaming being spotty as it is, these should lend themselves more as work monitors than for gaming setups - I can definitely see some traders running this kind of screens.

One of these panels will be a 49" wide, 32:9, 3840x1080 resolution beast. The panel will feature a 1800R curvature, higher than the usual curvature on 21:9 aspect ratio displays, but this may well make sense given the horizontal size of the panel. Higher curvature means better coverage of your peripheral vision, and Samsung has enough engineers and research to believe this is the right amount of curvature. This panel will support G-Sync and Freesync (on differing models, surely), and a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz on the VA panel with a 3-side frameless design. The panel will offer a high 5000:1 static contrast ratio - ahead of current contrast ratio on Samsung panels, according to TFT Central, so there is some new tech at play here. These panels are planned for mass production on September 2017.

Adding to its staple of monitor offerings, NEC has just announced the EX341R Curved Ultrawide QHD Display 34" display, which boasts a 3440 x 1440 resolution, an 1800R curvature, and an SVA panel. The panel makes do with a 5ms response time, which while not being great also isn't the worst we've seen on this kind of panels. It also boasts of 16.7 million colors, a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, and brightness is rated at 290 cd/m².

The EX341R is certified for Low Blue Light Content and Flicker-Free operation, which should help reduce eye strain and other health issues. It also features NEC's ControlSync technology, which works with DisplayPort's daisy-chain functionality to simplify multiple monitor configurations; the monitor also features a picture by picture mode. As to connections, the EX341R has 2xHDMI ports, 4xUSB 3.0 ports, and 1xDisplayPort 1.2 I/O.
