Overclocking
Athlon II X2 240 comes with an upwards locked frequency multiplier, so the only way to overclock it, is to raise the HT Link value. It is good to see that AMD has solved the stability issues that showed up when increasing HT on the first generations of Phenoms.
In the end, the tested model achieved a final clock of 3780 MHz using default x14 multiplier and 270 MHz HT Link speed. Core voltage was set to 1.51 V, and bumping it some more in addition to better cooling and some finesse tweaking it would possibly reach speeds of 4 GHz+.
Because the overclocking had to be done via HT Link, memory clock and Northbridge clock also increased to 2160 MHz for NB and 1440 MHz for memory.
