Synthetic Benchmarks

Possibly the best known and widely used synthetic benchmark, 3D Mark Vantage tests the gaming performance of the PC. PC Mark Vantage on the other hand tests other performance aspects of the PC like video encoding, home entertainment multimedia features, working in an office environment, and basic gaming.

Athlon II X2 240 performs as expected in these benchmarks. In 3D Mark tied to its main competitor, the Pentium E5200, while not too far away from Core 2 Duo E8200. It opens up a small gap ahead of E5200 in PC Mark which tests more segments than just gaming performance. The good news here is that there is no significant performance drop in comparison to the Phenom II X2 clocked at same speed, meaning that Athlon II X2 could have the similar performance per clock ratio as Phenom II X2 processors.
