A Look Inside

Before reading this page we strongly suggest to take a look at this article, which will help you understand the internal components of a PSU much better.


The OEM of CSP-X1200CB is Andyson. The same OEM manufacturers as on all other CSP series PSUs.


As usual we start the description of the internals with the analysis of the transient filtering stage. This starts at the AC receptacle with one X and two Y capacitors. It continues on the main PCB with two coils, one X and two Y caps and an MOV. There is also a thermistor here for inrush current limiting along with a relay that bypasses it once the PSU starts and the PFC capacitors are charged. The two rectifier bridges are cooled passively by the primary heatsink.


In the APFC stage two SPW32N50C3 mosfets are used along with two boost diodes (C3D10060G). It's the first time that we find two boost diodes in a non-interleaved APFC stage. Right next to the boost diodes resides a vertical daughter-board that houses the combo PFC/PWM controller, a Champion CM6800. The PFC caps are provided by Teapo (390 μF, 420 V, 85°C). As primary switches two SPW32N50C3 are used. Close to the outer of the two resides an STTH8R06D voltage rectifier diode.


In the secondary side, synchronous design is used so +12V are generated by eight IRFB3206 mosfets. The minor rails are generated from +12V via two DC-DC voltage regulation modules. At each VRM four ME75N03 mosfets and an APW7073 PWM controller are used. So far the main difference between CSP-X1000CB and CSP-X1200CB is the type and number of mosfets used for +12V regulation. All filtering capacitors in the secondary side are provided by Teapo and are labeled at 105°C.


The protections IC, a PS232S, is soldered on the main PCB. It supports up to four +12V rails.


On the modular PCB some polymer capacitors are used for ripple filtering. Also 12V3 is mistakenly written on the modular PCB since 12V2 is used instead. The other two +12V rail identifications are correct.


Soldering quality of the main&modular PCBs is average.


Four shunts are located where the +12V wires are soldered so indeed this PSU has four +12V virtual rails.


The cooling fan is provided by Young Lin Tech and its model number is DFB132512H (two ball bearing, 1800 RPM+10%, 95 CFM, 38dBA).
