Over the last years ASRock has established itself as a motherboard manufacturer that can offer affordable quality while not slacking on features too much. Just like last year, ASRock was not present on the show floor with an own booth, but rather chose to have a suite in the Hyatt Hotel, which is right next to Computex's Hall 1.
At the booth you can find a display of all their new motherboard products, with the focus being on Intel LGA775 motherboards.
Based on the aging (but cheap) Intel 945P chipset is this ASRock ConRoe 1333-eSATA2 motherboard which can run all CPUs except for the latest Quad Cores.
- CPU Support: All 1333/1066/800/533 MHz CPUs, except Quad Core
- Dual Channel DDR-II 667/533 x4 DIMM slots with max. 4 GB of memory
- Supports ATI CrossFire
- Additional (purple) AGI Express PCI-E x4 slot
- Gigabit Ethernet
- 2x IEEE1394 Firewire
- 4x SATA-II internal
- 2x e-SATA external, shared with two internal SATA ports
- HDMI SPDIF header to supply digital SPDIF audio to HDMI VGA card
- 7.1 Channel Audio (ALC888)
Equipped with the G version of the Intel 945 chipset the ASRock ConRoe 1333-DVI/H R2.0 offers integrated VGA with DVI output at a good price.
- CPU Support: All 1333/1066/800/533 MHz CPUs, except Quad Core
- Dual Channel DDR-II 667/533 x4 DIMM slots with max. 4 GB of memory
- Intel GMA 950 integrated DX9 VGA
- Dual VGA output via DVI and Analog, supports DVI HDCP graphics card.
- 1x PCI-Express x16 slot
- Gigabit Ethernet
- 2x IEEE1394 Firewire
- 4x SATA-II internal
- 2x e-SATA external, shared with two internal SATA ports
- HDMI SPDIF header to supply digital SPDIF audio to HDMI VGA card
- 7.1 Channel Audio (ALC888)
To get the DVI output with HDCP you have to insert this included card into your PCI-E slot. It is not a fully functional VGA card, but just reroutes the output signals from the Intel Integrated Graphics to the DVI connector on the board.
A really affordable motherboard is the ConRoe 1333-D667 R1.0, yet it can still run all the new 1333 FSB dual core CPUs. While this may not necessarily be the motherboard of choice for overclockers and hardcore enthusiasts it could be a cost effective solution for casual gamers or office PCs.
- CPU Support: All 1333/1066/800/533 MHz CPUs, except Quad Core
- Dual Channel DDR-II 667/533 x2 DIMM slots with max. 4 GB of memory
- Intel GMA 950 integrated DX9 VGA
- 10/100 Fast Ethernet
- 4x SATA-II internal
