  • 6x SATA-II
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • 8 channel HD Audio
  • DVI-D output

ECS also had a running demo of EFI, which is the successor of the current BIOS standard. It offers much more storage and allows for more complex applications in the BIOS. The Demo was showing how a recovery tool integrated in the BIOS could be used for system maintenance. While we will not see many motherboards with EFI until 2008, ECS is showing their customers that they do see the trend to EFI and have engineering resources allocated for its development.

VGA Cards

ECS has entered the video card business last year and is doing quite well as they say.

The have a full lineup of GeForce 8800 cards, which are following the NVIDIA standard reference design.

The N8600GTS-256MX HDMI is clocked at 675 MHz / 2000 MHz and comes with 256 MB of GDDR3 memory. Like all the following cards, ECS makes sure the HDMI feature stands out.

With clocks of 600 MHz / 1600 MHz the N8600GT-256MX HDMI is a bit more affordable than the GTS. It comes with 256 MB GDDR3 memory too.

The lowest cost solution offering HDMI support is the N8500GT-256MX HDMI which is clocked at 600 MHz / 1000 MHz with 256 MB DDR2 memory.

Cases

ECS is showing two prototype cases that were submitted to an Intel contest and did quite well. But look for yourself.

Unfortunately both cases will not make it to the market like that, but hopes are that partners of ECS might pick up one or the other idea to incorporate them into their products. I must say I was very impressed by all the little attention to detail that went into those two cases and would have taken one with me on the spot.
