Lian-Li PC-V1010 Aluminum ATX Case

  Show printable version
Manufacturer: Lian-Li
Author: Darksaber
Date: Jul 22nd 2008

Packaging

The case ships in a full color package. The company's new layout shows the case on both sides, with smaller images of all the specific features of the enclosure. The sides hold an additional image and list the chassis specifications in multiple languages.

Upon opening the package I got a little shock. Seems like the post man dropped the package or bumped it somewhere pretty good, as most of the drive bay covers have come loose. The case itself is only protected by fairly thin Styrofoam spacers. While this is sufficient, other manufacturers use real foam instead, which is much more durable.

Contents

Lian-Li is known for supplying an extensive package of the various screws needed. On top of that, you will find a little plastic storage unit, in which you can place all the screws. Even though it may not look large enough, it easily fits them all. An extension for the P4 mainboard connector has also been included. I do not see any reason why Lian-Li has not opted for the new eight pin part instead. An additional backplate for specific workstation and server boards rounds up the package. The manual and some marketing items can be found in the blue plastic bag, which protects the case from scratches during transportation.

The one surprise is an extra 120 mm fan. It is intended to further increase the air flow in the upper half of the mainboard - but more about this in due time.
