Powercolor HD 5870 PCS+ Review

Value & Conclusion »

Overclocking

To find the maximum overclock of our card we used a combination of GPUTool and our benchmarking suite.
The overclocks listed here were achieved with the default fan and voltage settings as defined in the VGA BIOS. Please note that every single sample overclocks differently, that's why our results here can only serve as a guideline for what you can expect from your card.

Please note that the default clock in the GPU-Z screenshot is not correct, it is 875 / 1225.

The overclocks of our card are 1000 MHz core (14% overclock) and 1370 MHz Memory (12% overclock). Very nice! PowerColor's HD 5870 PCS+ is the first HD 5870 in my hands that reaches the magical 1000 MHz without any sort of modding. The memory overclock is also better than what we saw on other HD 5870 cards.

Overclocked Performance

Using these clock frequencies we ran a quick test of Call of Duty 4 to evaluate the gains from overclocking.

The actual 3D performance gained from overclocking is 11.7%.

Temperatures

Temperatures are comfortably low, even with the nice overclock. Since the fan is also extremely quiet I have nothing to complain here.
