Value and Conclusion

  • The Tagan SuperRock 680W goes for around $100 online.
  • Quiet
  • Affordable
  • Compact
  • Cables are fully sleeved
  • High efficiency
  • Lots of connectors
  • Line regulation only about average
  • Low efficiency compared to other PSUs in our test group
Tagan has a long history of offering power supplies for both budget users and enthusiasts. The Tagan SuperRock 680W can clearly be placed in the "no bells and whistles" category. It doesn't have any fancy lighting or other gizmos you would expect from an enthusiast class power supply. However, it comes at a very affordable price point, offers stable voltages and quiet operation. While 680W may not sound like much in today's world of 1200W power supplies, rest assured that 680W is plenty for any "normal" rig with up to two graphics cards. Since the power supply runs very quiet and comes in a compact form factor is may also be a great choice for a media PC where silence is key.
While 80.4% efficiency may not look like a lot when compared to our test group, it is still above 80%. An additional 1% or 2% efficiency will not make much of a difference to the environment or your wallet. Overall I can recommend the Tagan SuperRock 680W TG680-U33II to every budget aware user who wants a solid power supply that keeps his system stable at all times.
