Alleged 6-Core Ryzen 7000-Series Tested in Basemark's GPU Rendering Tests

An AMD engineering sample CPU with the model name 100-000000593-20_Y has appeared in a couple of graphics rendering tests, paired with an NVIDIA RTX A4000 GPU. The CPU appears to be a 6-core Ryzen 7000-series chip that was fitted to a Gigabyte X670E Aorus Master motherboard. Based on the leaked information that was dug up by @TUM_APISAK, it has a clock speed of 4.4 GHz, but little else is known about the CPU. Basemark might not be the most widely used test out there and both the tests that were run, were GPU rendering tests. However, courtesy of @harukaze5719, we have some graphs comparing the alleged Ryzen 7000-series CPU with a Ryzen 9 5950X which is using the same GPU.

The first test is an OpenGL test where the 6-core CPU beats the 16-core CPU by a not insignificant 9.5 percent overall, but by more than 11 percent when it comes to the minimum frame rate in the benchmark. This is a significant performance lead, although in the Vulcan test, the difference is somewhat smaller with a 7 percent lead for the 6-core CPU. It's unclear how well these tests scale with more CPU cores, so we wouldn't read too much into either of these benchmark results, but it seems like AMD's Zen 4 architecture will deliver on what AMD has promised based on these early tests. We've independently verified that the numbers are in the ballpark of the engineering samples that AMD's partners have today, which means that these numbers haven't been faked in any way. Keep in mind that AMD is still working on its AM5 platform and it's still early days. We understand that AMD has recently fixed a few platform bugs that would've been showstoppers if AMD had launched the AM5 platform with them still present.

Colorful Announces Six-Card Limited Edition Graphics Card: RTX 3090 iGame Vulcan RNG Edition

Colorful has announced a limited-edition, six-part reinvention of its RTX 3090 iGame Vulcan graphics card. The new card simply adds RNG to the name, a homage to Chinese e-Sports team RNG (Royal Never Give Up), who have climbed to fame through their League of Legends antics - the perfect use-case for an RTX 3090 GPU, obviously.

Colorful has changed the color profile of the card, trading in the gray color found in the vanilla RTX 3090 iGame Vulcan for a satin gold finish. The backplate has also received a special treatment, with a golden graphic depicting all six team members of the e-Sports team. Five of these cards will be given to clan members - a great partnership payment if I've ever seen one), while the last one will be offered via social media. We're looking at another collector's graphics card, although its development nature and graphics might affect its final selling price. All in all, this 6-card edition likely represents at least half of the available stock for the RTX 3090 GPU.

Rumor: GeForce RTX 3090 Pricing to Arrive Around the $2,000 Mark

A user on ChipHell going by the alias Alienxzy posted a screenshot taken from an alleged insider account with information regarding plans for next-gen RTX 3090 as fabricated by NVIDIA's AIB partner Colorful. According to the original information, posted on ChipHell as a screenshot, Colorful will be releasing two high-end versions of the RTX 3090 graphics card, in the form of the Vulcan (air-cooled) and Neptune (hybrid cooling) models. According to it, and when the text is parsed through a translator, the tentative pricing for NVIDIA's next-gen is slated at CNY 13,999 (online selling) for the Vulcan X OC, and CNY 12,999 (again online selling) for the Neptune. These translate to roughly $2,000 for the high-end Vulcan X OC and (strangely, for a hybrid, water-cooled version) $1875 for the Neptune. Another pricing of CNY 12,000 is mentioned for the Vulcan ($1,730), so that might actually be the real pricing (and makes more sense compared to the Neptune).

Some more information is present on the rumor-mill-powering post, such as a 5 V RGB capability that pairs the graphics cards' lighting with that of the motherboard (and vice-versa), as well as improved in-card display for the Vulcan X; meanwhile, sales of the Neptune graphics card for the previous generation were reportedly low, which is why its pricing is reportedly being revised close to its introduction, which will be in the same ballpark of the Vulcan X OC. If true, this should set the pricing trend for NVIDIA's expected top offering in the RTX 3000 series, and it's creeping ever higher - the cost to have a generation's best performer is becoming more and more (insert descriptor here). Even considering NVIDIA's all but guaranteed Founders' Edition, we're looking at a steep pricing landscape. Do please note the rumor tag on the title of the news post, as this isn't confirmed information in any way or form. Images below for the Vulcan X and Neptune are merely representative of current generation's offerings.

Colorful iGame Z490 Vulcan X and CVN Z490 Gaming Pro Motherboards Detailed

Here are some of the first pictures and details of a pair of premium socket LGA1200 motherboards by Colorful. The iGame Z490 Vulcan X appears to lead the company's upcoming Intel Z490 chipset motherboard lineup. The CVN Z490 Gaming Pro, on the other hand, is a mid-range offering. The iGame board offers a 280 W-capable 14-phase CPU VRM, three each of PCI-Express 3.0 x16 (x8/x8/x4 with all three populated, else x16/NC/x4) slots, PCie x1, and M.2 NVMe slots; a PCH heatsink outer shroud that extends into heatsinks for two of the M.2 slots, a rear I/O shroud that extends into an M.2 heatsink; and connectivity that includes a premium ALC1220-based onboard audio solution, 802.11ax WLAN driven by an Intel AX201 board, and 2.5 GbE wired interface driven by an Intel i225-V controller. The I/O shroud and PCH heatsink feature RGB LED embellishments.

The CVN Z490 Gaming Pro is refreshingly spartan for a Colorful board. Chunky aluminium heatsinks cool the board's 10-phase VRM rated up to 125 W. The CPU socket is wired to two reinforced PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (x16/x4 electrical), You still get three M.2 slots, but only one of them features a heatsink. The connectivity is entry-level, too, with a Realtek ALC892-driven 8-channel HD audio solution, and a single 1 GbE wired networking interface driven by a Realtek RTL8111H controller. There are ARGB headers, although no RGB LED embellishments.

ROCCAT Introduces its New Vulcan Keyboard With In-House Titan Switch Tactile at COMPUTEX

After their tease earlier this week, ROCCAT have formally introduced their Vulcan keyboard, the first keyboard solution fully developed in-house: from component selection, to keyboard design, all the way to the very switches that power users' inputs. ROCCAT says its development led to the Titan Switch tactile product that now sees the light of day on the Vulcan keyboard - and helps light users' days with its RGB lighting.

According to the company, ROCCAT "debounced the switch by reducing the mechanical shattering during actuation thanks to high quality materials and componentry. This allows the firmware to reliably identify key stroke signals 20% faster than competing keyboards." We couldn't test that particular claim, but we did get some "camera-on" time with the new Keyboard at COMPUTEX.
