LG Joins the Ultrabook Club, Unveils the Xnote Z330

The ultrabook supporters club has grown some more recently as LG Electronics decided to adopt this form factor and release the Xnote Z330, an Intel-based mobile PC that weights just 1.21kg and is 14.7mm thick.

LG's first ultrabook comes with a 13.3-inch (1366 x 768) LED-backlit display boasting a super-thin bezel (8mm), is powered by a Core i5-2467M (1.6 GHz) or Core i7-2637M (1.7 GHz) processor, and can boot up in 9.9 seconds.

LG Expands its Glasses-Free 3D Monitor Lineup

LG Electronics (LG) extends its glasses-free 3D monitor lineup with the 25-inch DX2500, which incorporates glasses-free parallax barrier 3D and head-tracking technologies. With the DX2500, LG becomes the first in the industry to receive TÜV Rheinland certification for a glasses-free 3D monitor.

"LG is taking glasses-free 3D monitors mainstream with the DX2500," said Si-hwan Park, Vice President of the Monitor Division at LG's Home Entertainment Company. LG Brings Scanning Convenience To IFA 2011 With Innovative Mouse Scanner

LG Electronics (LG) will be opening a new era for scanners at this year's IFA with the LSM-100, the mouse with a built-in scanner. Incorporating technology specifically developed for the new device, the LSM-100 offers an array of unique functions that blend surprising innovation and user convenience.

Operating the LSM-100's scanning function is far more convenient than on conventional scanners. While holding the Smart Scan button on the left side of the mouse, the user simply swipes the mouse over the material to be scanned. The scanned image can then be saved in a variety of file types - PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PDF, XLS and DOC - or dragged and dropped into the desired application.

New M-DISC to Provide Up To 1,000 Years of Permanent Data Storage

LG Introduces First All-in-One PC with FPR Display and IPS Screen Technology

LG Electronics (LG) will be unveiling its first all-in-one PC which will feature the innovative Film-type Patterned Retarder (FPR) display, found in its popular CINEMA 3D TVs. The LG V300, developed in partnership with Intel, will be unveiled at Computex 2011, Asia's largest IT exhibition, in Taipei from May 31 to June 4.

The LG V300 will come with an impressive list of features including 2nd Generation Intel Core processors, 3D FPR display, In Plane Switching (IPS) screen technology that creates a stunning 178-degree viewing angle and a triple camera system for superb multitouch capability.

LG Leading The Way In Glasses-Free 3D

LG Electronics (LG) today unveiled the world's first glasses-free monitor utilizing eye-tracking technology to maintain an optimal 3D image from a range of viewing angles. The 20-inch D2000 monitor was developed as a fully func-tional entertainment display capable of reproducing games, movies and images in all their realistic glory.

NVIDIA Reports Financial Results for Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year 2011

NVIDIA today reported revenue of $886.4 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011 ended Jan. 30, 2011, up 5.0 percent from the prior quarter and down 9.8 percent from $982.5 million from the same period a year earlier.

On a GAAP basis, the company recorded net income of $171.7 million, or $0.29 per diluted share, compared with $84.9 million, or $0.15 per diluted share, in the previous quarter and GAAP net income of $131.1 million, or $0.23 per diluted share, in the same period a year earlier. GAAP gross margin was a record 48.1 percent compared with 46.5 percent in the previous quarter and 44.7 percent in the same period a year earlier.

LG Intros New XNote with Ultra-Slim Bezel

LG Electronics announced the latest member of the XNote series, the XNote P210. Its biggest selling point is its size. While it's the size and shape of a notebook with a 11.6-inch screen, it actually features a larger 12.5-inch screen. This is made possible by using an extremely slim bezel (the portion surrounding the actual display area of the screen). The screen resolution isn't mentioned, though it bears an "HD" badge. In all likelihood, it could have a resolution of 1366 x 768 or 1280 x 720 in the worst-case.

Measuring 299 x 192 x 20.9 mm, the XNote P210 weighs 1.3 kg. It is driven by an Intel Core i5 470UM dual-core processor clocked at 1.33 GHz featuring Turbo Boost and HyperThreading. Other hardware specs include 4 GB of DDR3 memory, Intel HD graphics with dynamic frequency, and 320 GB hard-drive based storage. Connectivity include WiFi b/g/n, and Bluetooth 3.0. Windows 7 Home Premium x64 comes pre-installed. Slated for February, the XNote P210 is expected to be priced at around US $1,100.

Blu-ray 3D Expected to Reach Consumers in 2010 Los Angeles

The Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) today announced the finalization and release of the "Blu-ray 3D" specification. The specification, which represents the work of the leading Hollywood studios and consumer electronic and computer manufacturers, will enable the home entertainment industry to bring the 3D experience into consumers' living rooms on Blu-ray Disc, the most capable high definition home entertainment platform.

"Throughout this year, movie goers have shown an overwhelming preference for 3D when presented with the option to see a theatrical release in either 3D or 2D," said Victor Matsuda, chairman, BDA Global Promotions Committee. "We believe this demand for 3D content will carry over into the home now that we have, in Blu-ray Disc, a medium that can deliver a quality Full HD 3D experience to the living room."

The "Blu-ray 3D" specification fully leverages the technical advantages of the Blu-ray Disc format to deliver unmatched picture quality as well as uniformity and compatibility across the full range of Blu-ray 3D products, both hardware and software. Notably, the specification allows every Blu-ray 3D player and movie to deliver Full HD 1080p resolution to each eye, thereby maintaining the industry leading image quality to which Blu-ray Disc viewers are accustomed. Moreover, the specification is display agnostic, meaning that Blu-ray 3D products will deliver the 3D image to any compatible 3D display, regardless of whether that display uses LCD, Plasma or other technology and regardless of what 3D technology the display uses to deliver the image to the viewer's eyes.

LG Electronics Unveils its First ION Nettop

LG Electronics unveiled the company's first nettop, based on the NVIDIA ION platform. Measuring roughly 1l in volume, the LG XPION X30 resembles similar offerings from Medion, Gateway, and Acer. The unit weighs under 1.1 kg (2.42 lbs). Under its hood is an Intel Atom 230 single-core processor running at 1.6 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics integrated into the ION chipset, 2 GB of memory, and 250 GB storage. It comes with Windows Vista Home Basic pre-loaded and comes with an attachment that lets the unit latch onto some monitors probably using the VESA wall-mount, so it could be neatly tucked away to save space. It is expected to hit retail tomorrow.

LG Electronics (LG) and Intel Corporation today announced a collaboration around mobile Internet devices (MIDs) based on Intel's next-generation MID hardware platform, codenamed "Moorestown," and Linux-based Moblin v2.0 software platform. The LG device is expected to be one of the first Moorestown designs to market.
LG and Intel's common goal is to unleash rich Internet experiences across a range of mobile devices while delivering the functionality of today's high-end smart phones. LG Flatron W2252TE - the World's Most Energy-efficient 22-inch Monitor

Electronics company LG has announced the launch of Flatron W2252TE, the world's most energy-efficient monitor. 22-inch in size, the widescreen W2252TE claims to offer a 45% reduction in power consumption, saving around 40 watts compared to other monitors that share the same size. The screen has a wide native resolution of 1680x1050, 2ms response time, a 170° viewing angle, a brightness rated at 250cdm² and a contrast ratio of 10,000:1. "The W2252TE gives consumers the chance to work, play games, watch movies or surf the internet, safe in the knowledge that they are doing as much as possible to help reduce their impact on the environment" Fiona Landsberg, marketing manager of LG Electronics says. The LG Flatron W2252TE is expected to be available in the UK first, starting from August 2008. Pricing information is unavailable.

LG Intros GH22 22x DVD Burner

LG announced today GH22, the company's latest 22x Super-multi DVD burner. LG's new drive comes to join Samsung's SH-S223 22x burner, scheduled for release later this summer. Specifications of the drive include 22x writing speed for DVD-R/+R, 16x for DVD+RW DL, 12x for DVD-R DL and 12x for DVD-RAM. The drive also comes with 2MB memory buffer coupled with Buffer Underun technology, Lightscribe for image burning directly on the surface of discs as well as the SecurDisc feature for data protection. Availability is expected in the second half of this year, priced at approximately US $30.

LG 6x Blu-Ray Burner Available in Korea

LG has officially today announced the release of the first Blu-Ray/HD DVD Super-multi DVD burner capable of writing at 6x on Blu-Ray media. The new GGW-H20L is the successor of the currently available GGW-H10N Super-multi Blue Blu-Ray /HD DVD combo drive. Basic specifications include a SATA interface, support for Lightscribe, 6x burning for BD-R media using the CAV (Constant Angular Velocity) writing strategy, 3x HD DVD-ROM reading (15GB and 30GB), 16x writing for DVD+/-R media and 40x for CD-R. Another strong advantage of the new drive is the support for 4x BD-R DL (50GB) burning, which means that you will be able to write approximately 46 GB of data in less than 50 minutes. Currently, LG is the only ODD maker that offers drives compatible with both Blu-Ray and HD DVD formats. The new GGW-H20L drive will be available in the Korean market first and LG has not confirmed yet confirmed its availability overseas any time soon. It will sell for W490,000 (U.S. $526), almost the half price of the company's previous Super-multi model. HLDS also plans to release a Blu-Ray/HD DVD ROM drive (GGC-H20L) with Lightscribe, keeping up with the demand for more affordable drives for entertainment PCs.

LG GGC-H20N - Blu-ray/HD DVD Combo Player Released

LG has announced that its hybrid Blu-ray and HD DVD player LG GGC-H20N is now available in stores, in Japan. The new player can read BD-ROM at 6x, BD-ROM/R DL at 4.8x, BD-RE (DL) 2x, HD DVD-ROM (DL) 3x. It also sports DVD/CD reading capabilities; DVD-RAM 5x, DVD±R DL 4x, DVD±R 16x, DVD-RW 6x, DVD+RW 8x, CD-R 40x and CD-RW 24x. The player costs about 40,000 YEN, which is about $345 USD. This particular player is also available in an external shape from Buffalo (same model name), but with an estimated price of 51,000 YEN ($440).

LG to Launch Monitors with 5000:1 Contrast Ratio

LG Electronics (LG) today announced the availability of the industry's highest contrast ratio of 5000:1, provided by the company's Digital Fine Contrast (DFC) technology, in its existing monitor line-up. DFC technology creates a clearer, crisper and brighter picture against a darker background and will be included in most of LG's new and existing monitors. DFC 5000:1 technology, uses the world's first LCD picture-enhancing chip to dynamically control brightness as the onscreen image changes, ensuring that it is always at the optimal level. The technology also delivers incredible black levels and excellent color differentiation in dark scenes. The models which are upgraded to the contrast ratio of 5000:1 are the standard and widescreen series. They will be available from August 30, 2007 at all major consumer electronics retail outlets.

LG FlatronWide L206WU USB Monitor Gets Released In The US

LG announced today that its latest 20-inch FlatronWide L206WU USB-based monitor is getting released to the US.
The L206WU almost identical to the Samsung SyncMaster 940UX and it has a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, 170 degree horizontal / vertical viewing angles , DVI , VGA and a USB connection that can be used in over five displays.
So far the USB connection has a form of built-in lag due to the restrictions of the USB connection, so we will have to wait and see what LG along with DisplayLink have as a solution .
