GeForce GTS 450 to Sport New GPU, 128-bit Memory Interface
After an industry-wide launch of the GeForce GTX 460 768M and GTX 460 1G, NVIDIA's next product launch is increasingly looking like a mainstream SKU, which will be based on a newer GPU. The GF106 graphics processor will push NVIDIA deeper into the mainstream market segment, where it will be competing for graphics cards in the sub-$150 range. One of the first SKUs is the GeForce GTS 450.
The GeForce GTS 450 GPU will have 1 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 128-bit wide memory interface, according to sources close to DonanimHaber. There won't be a reference NVIDIA board as such, and board partners will be given full lease to design their own PCBs and coolers. The GeForce GTS 450 is expected to be released to the market by the end of August, 2010.

But I hope this means that in the mainstream market the new Nvidia GTS 450 forces the ATI 5770 prices to lower somewhat.
Hopefully it'll bring the price of 5770 down a little bit.
Nvidia also needs to bridge the gap of lower mainstream by their 106 chips like GTS/GT 440/430 to deal with the HD 5750/5670.........hmmm im waiting.;)
I'm talking about the 5870 which is walloped by the 480.
Unfortunately for the 480, extra performance is all it has to offer; I'd love to openly discuss the temps/power, but fear causing heart attacks, strokes and mass hysteria with those that read.:laugh:
Hopefully it'll be a good card, just for the competition's sake. I'd like to just see how it fares against the 5770. Bout damn time I gave my 9800gt some deserved rest, now the winner for me will surely be the first to offer the best performance for ~$200.
Cant wait for the 495 though! :D
GTS450 is a re-badged 8800GT/9800GT(+)/GTS250
NVIDIA is constantly building the most massive GPU you can imagine while AMD is following the "many smaller GPU's on same PCB". This brings some probems with profiles, but it's just cheaper to build to get nearly the same result. So why bothering with one massive troublesome GPU if you can make two smaller ones, stick them together on one PCB and voila.
And that's how it is. I'm sure they are aware about when one or another design makes sense.
I think you are being hard in respect to the 5870 it does not get "walloped", yes the GTX 480 is faster but only slightly. On most reviews including W1zzard's review only a few frames per second that separates the two i.e. 1-10 FPS which equates to 10% separation between the GTX 480 and 5870 on average at both high and low resolutions. So as far as I’m concerned they are practically on par. Also considering that the 5870 is over $100 cheaper and consumes less power its still the better choice.

GF100 most likely will not make to a single PCB due to massive heat issues.
We got used to 8800GT >> then 4870/gtx260 >> then 275 and 4890... Then 5770
after those 5830 and 465 look like total fail.
