Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 Memory Hits 2533MHz, Sets World Record for DDR3 Frequency

Corsair, announced today that Corsair Labs has set the world record for DDR3 frequency on a Core i7 system. Corsair Labs achieved an astounding speed of DDR3-2533MHz with the aggressive memory timings of 7-8-7-20 using a triple-channel 6GB memory kit. This new world record, verified and validated by CPU-Z, the industry-standard tool for verifying overclocking results, is the first time this frequency has been achieved on a Core i7 system with 6GB of memory using three modules; most world record attempts use only a single 1GB module. Corsair Labs engineers used the award-winning Dominator GT 2000C7 memory with eVGA's X58 3X SLI Classified motherboard to shatter the world record for memory frequency. Corsair Labs selected the new EVGA X58 Classified motherboard for setting this new world record, along with a Corsair HX1000W power supply and the newly-announced Corsair Storage Solutions P256 SSD, creating a system truly designed for maximum performance.

Our goal was to create the best overclocking motherboard on the planet for Intel Core i7 processors and these results prove it," said Joe Darwin, Director of Technical Marketing at eVGA, "When paired with Corsair's ultra-high performance Dominator GT memory, we've not only met our goal, we've blown it away."

All Corsair Dominator GT modules are built using the patent-pending DHX+ (Dual-path Heat eXchange) heatsink, which uniquely cools both the front and back of the memory ICs, and the printed circuit board, for greater reliability and increased overclocking flexibility. All Dominator GT products also ship with the Corsair Airflow fan as standard, which maximizes airflow over the module's cooling fins, increasing heat dissipation to improve memory performance and reliability.

DHX+ modules feature removable heatsink fins, which allows for range of Dominator GT cooling options, including the Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H30 waterblock and Ice Series T30 thermo-electric cooler, which actively cools the modules up to 20°C below ambient temperature for maximum overclockability.

Really??? so 4gb kits usually clock less good then 2gb kits? I mean like significantly?

on DDR2 yes they do old school D9GKX/GMH could clock to upwards of 1400 CL5 while there is not a DDR2 2x2GB kit that could come close to that max on those is a single kit that can do 1300 CL5

wow never knew it could make such a difference!!! so in ddr3's case, say I get 3gb of crucials... should it clock significantly better than 6gb or is it negligeable?

cdawallactually the newer sticks are clocking alot higher now OCZ has a low volt blade set that clocks hella good. it can't even come close to matching my cheaper set of crucial value ram but they clock to well over 1200 as do the gskill pi 1200's and the corsair dominator 1066 kits are coming close as well
I have the CAS4 1000Mhz Pis. I still haven't tested max CAS5 clocks tho.

Moot point tho, top of the line 2GB sticks still can't match the best 1GB sticks. My first set of 1200Mhz aXeRam did 1400Mhz CAS5. Wish 2GB sticks would do that.

When you compare the best DDR2 clocks, to the clocks on these Dominator GT's, it really is mind boggling how far ram has come in general, let alone how far DDR3 has progressed.

This is somewhat true for me. I have a 2x1GB pair of old Corsair CM2X1024-6400s that I can knock up to 920MHz and another 2x2GB pair of CM2X2048-6400s which have the same memory (only with double capacity, of course) and I can only bring it to like ~880MHz. :banghead:

If i could get my hands on 12Gb worth of Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 @ 2500+ Mhz binned, i would donate my q6600, striker extreme, 8800gtx, 2gb corsair 4-4-4-12 ddr2 based pc to a scout group.

those are low clocks on both...

mlee49Benches like that dont have to stress test. Getting a snap shot is all it takes for recognition. Hell a CPU-Z validation is stress enough at those crazy speeds.

thats hella fast and at really good timings!
For the love of god please tell me you aren't serious.

That comment above is reason why I dont believe half the insane overclocks I see on the net.
