The AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ was a desktop processor with 2 cores, launched in May 2005, at an MSRP of $803. It is part of the Athlon 64 X2 lineup, using the Toledo architecture with Socket 939. Athlon 64 X2 4600+ has 512 KB of L2 cache per core and operates at 2.4 GHz. AMD is making the Athlon 64 X2 4600+ on a 90 nm production node using 154 million transistors. The multiplier is locked on Athlon 64 X2 4600+, which limits its overclocking potential.
With a TDP of 110 W, the Athlon 64 X2 4600+ consumes a lot of power, so good cooling is definitely needed. AMD's processor supports DDR1 memory with a dual-channel interface.
