Anyone else running a 3-way Crossfire setup? If everything goes right, I should a 4850 1gb bought next Monday for some 3 way Crossfire action :toast:

Not many folks Trifire around here. I debated the idea a while back but couldn't find a single sloted 4830, too bad I ran across one just a few weeks ago(XFX single slotted 4830).

anyone know of a good single slot cooler? I would have to take my PhysX card out for the 2nd GPU to fit :ohwell:

Nice! You should google Antman's review on 4850x2 + 4850 tri-fire with a phenom II some major scaling in games.

I do.
Installing each card was a snap, drivers installed and worked as they should, overclocks worked as they were single cards and the cards were from mismatched manufacturers (2xGigabyte custom PCBs and 1xPowerColour Reference). :rockout:

The only thing that didn't go well was a dual monitor setup with the other monitor on a secondary adapter.
Plus it surprised me that it ran on a HX620 :eek:

Oooo cheers for the heads up looks like this hx 620 will last me quite a while considering the setup you have.

You'd probably be a lot better off buying dual-4850 X2's, and selling your 4850's. Of course, for the money, you could probably get a GTX 295.

I could and its been considered if I was going to touch a 4800 x 2 card I would most likely wait for the 5 series and pick up some 4870x2 or maybe a 4890x2. I really just wanna to see how well they perform being in quad xfire and to boost the E-peen ya know :roll:

Im kidding I'm just interested in playing around with different configurations and seeing what performs the best.

But there are so many things that you need to do before getting Quad-Rv770.

You absolutely need to get a bigger monitor. Preferably a 24-incher.

I know that I cant just throw a new mobo in a go. I need new psu and a bigger monitor and I'd like to be under water if I'm going to try out quad xfire. These are just idea's I should be getting the other two sometime this month soo Ill worry about all that once I get them. In the mean time Ill have 3 pretty decent gaming rigs

. One running xfire and two lighter pc's running a single 4850. Should be fun

Edit:hahahah I remembered that I have a 4830 to play with two

I know Crysis doesn't use a 3rd card at all. I know STALKER and Call of Duty do! Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Pripyat are my two top wanted games ATM. I think this will be worth it for me in the long run.

You should be able to set it to run that third card with r_multigpu = 1 in console

that should set it to run all three.

If everything goes right for me, I'll be broke by the time I get done with my i7 build. :laugh:

Let us know how that goes since I'm really interested in picking up another 4870 to throw in with my X2 right now.
