That's what NVIDIA did with 8800 GTX (something that was >50% faster than 7900 GTX), and it worked.

I prefer to have my options asap, and it appears these are good options to have.
When nVidia releases thei cards, people will still buy them

I'd say 1200SP is more likely... or 2400SP on 5870x2...

I just hope the price is right...

as the power goes i don't see why not have the same or less power consumption than 4800's. 4800's had almost the same power consumption as 3800's (a bit bigger, depending on the model)

I think 5800's are coming to soon to be revolutionary... i hope DX11 delivers better than DX10, and i hope we see some PhysX stuff from ATI!!!

well no, from 3870 to 4870 it went from 320 shaders to 800 shaders, might well be 1600-1800 shaders

thats a very valid point, there is a history of almost tripling shaders between generations.

I like the new Eyefinity technology. Assuming it lets me run three monitors simultaneously without any hassle and scale applications over it with ease then I see ATI as my DX11 GPU unless nvidia has similar technology.

since they got dual monitor working at the same time as crossfire now, i assume they have some plans to make triple monitor their next big thing for gaming. smart move really.

If the manufacturing tech is 40nm (crosses fingers) it shouldn't be that bad. though whatever x2 they make may be a power hog.

Very smart move, especially if it continue's into their proffessional lineup of cards where they might support even more hopefully.

I envision 3 24" monitors either 1920 x 1200 or 1080 powered by two of their most powerful GPU's playing FSX or SupCom 2 when it comes out scaled across 3 monitors flawlessly.

My bad i got it mixed up with with those 4xxx (tought 38xx's had 640 shaders:banghead:) cards that have 640 shaders... Thats why i got the whole thing callculated wrong, now it all makes sense.

Has it been that long since the 4800 series came out? Lost track since i bought mine some six months ago. I've been late to the party all my life :D

For those of you who say, "lol you purchased before a review!" I am going red camp, currently have 2 260 216s and I love em, but i dont like nvidia chipset mobo (just a personal thing) , going back to my GA-P35-DS4 :) and crossfiring the new tech from ati :) bc i can!

i chose ATI for the same reason actually - Nvidia chipset boards suck, intel didnt. Intel supported crossfire, so crossfire i went.
