hopefully it won't turn out to be another cheap ass r770.....

we want extreme performance.....not the card that only runs console ported with 100 fps....

uh lets see shitty gameplay no real replay value it looks pretty but it isnt innovative its a typical FPS same with metro 2033 then again so is COD and Bad Company 2 no one plays that for single player its the multiplayer. fact of the matter is under the awesome graphics its more of the same crap. thats why ppl criticize it the weapons in crysis are awesome they handle nicely but i need more then shiny weapons etc. I need replay value customization, good story decent difficulty to make it a challenge, most FPS games the last few years arent all that great most of them havent done anything new to exciting really or if they have regular gameplay is atrocious.

if you're intend to story, i'd suggest you play gears of war and resident series..however the graphic are shitty in modern standard. or if you want more about story then you just go play some console based rpg like final fantasy or the legend of zelda......shooter is not just story. it's simulation of real time action. can you shrink the whole story into 7 hours game play ignore the fact that the real story may take longer than 5 months in real life. again, rpg belong to your taste..

Dude you're so hardcore, you should be a pornstar:rockout:

Again graphics aren't the main selling point for most gamer, It's important, but nice effects never replace innovation in gameplay, story, etc... game like Crysis have no replay value 50$ for 14 hours of mediocre gameplay(but with great graphics), games like Half Life 2 really gave something new FPS, since then it's been downhill very few new FPS excite me or give me the satisfaction HL2.

true, not much game in this world that can replace Half Life and gorden freemen. except point men and his mother in F.E.A.R and kent the marine in quake 4..... but that doesn't change the fact that crysis is not a bad game. it's far better than some bad game like daikatana, turok, return to wolfenstein, unreal 2 and duke nukem: manhattan project. there are plenty of bad game every year and you people just have to pick on crysis....

Gotta disagree there. About 60% of the people who play COD and Bad Company 2(legit or not) play the single player campaign. Only about 25% play multiplayer online and the rest of the 15% on lan. Those two games have some of the best campaign modes for a FPS game. :rockout:

when i say regurgitated i base it on the following im a single guy i run through a lvl i shoot everything end lvl or... i run through a lvl with ai squad mates that cant hit the broadside of a barn and there only use is to absorb bullets. Or whatever that game was that u could shoot the ground and transform the terrain in real time to get through lvls etc great concept but aiming and shooting aspect of that game was horrible last game i played that offered me something new was Red Faction the original it was semi difficult at higher settings and the geo mod tech was new at the time u could throw mines on ppl and they would run and scream etc etc. Overall i dont blame the core of FPS mechanics for shitty gameplay what i blame is the fact that after 10 years they still cant improve aiming on consoles examples of this failure are Killzone Killzone 2 as the most blatant i dont mind more of the same but if you cant even do it RIGHT by standards set 10 years ago they shouldnt even try and we are extremely off topic

Yep, still waiting for a game that betters Ghost Recon \ Arma and Deus Ex. COD 4 was lame SP was boring only took 4 hours to complete.

why has this turned into a discussion about games and SP vs MP and good gfx vs bad gameplay etc?

who cares what you want to play on your shiny new 6000 series card, its turning into a religious debate about game choice, and everyone has their own tastes there.

lol wolf pretty much and for the record i think Gears 1 and 2 suck ass and resident evil stopped being awesome after RE3 now that being said i want more info on the real cayman successor.

and my point mdsx1950 after u beat the single player in any FPS without solid fun multiplayer the games dead over yadda yadda every moder fps can be beat in a single sitting

now more importantly i wonder how much power the new 6800 / 6900 series will use if the 6700s are 120-150 respectively

I preferred the thread when it was massive posts full of speculative numbers

we should be hearing something more official from AMD really soon I think, given release is supposed to be 19th of Oct.

That is true but some games like Bad Company 2 and the CoD series (MW, WaW, MW2) have really awesome replay value. I've beat the campaign mode in all games more than thrice. ;)

Sorry for going off topic. I'll stick to topic from this post onwards. :)

I don't know if this has been linked already but : http://vr-zone.com/articles/more-radeon-hd-6870-benchmarks-leaked/9700.html

if that article is correct then for all intents and purposes the new series will be up to most peoples standards.

promising but still not great IMO, it only beats the GTX480 by ~20%, which only puts it 30-40% faster than a 5870, not a huge leap but a gain nonetheless.

unless they have improved crossfire scaling too, I can see GTX480's and 6870's going head to head in multi card configurations.

I hope that is correct. I will remain skeptical.

2GB memory better be the standard config. Surprising it's not 64 ROPs. Very surprising.

I thought Wizz got the details for the new series from ATi just before release... ?

Also, wouldn't Wizz be the ONLY person with a 6 series compatible GPUz? Meaning he must have leaked it, lol.

yeah 48 ROPS and 256 bit memory... hmmm, I wonder how they pulled that off....

now more and more interested to see a full card breakdown. 1920 redesigned SP's sounds nice.

EDIT: why is pixel fillrate blocked out? they leave the two numbers you need to compute it, ROPS and clockspeed, pixel fillrate = 40.8 G/Pixels

Is there is any maths formula to find pixel fillrate:cry:

Blurred Leaked Slide Hints At Caicos, Cayman Performance of HD 6000 Series

We again see a new number of SP's per thread processor in a SIMD, matching the previously seen slides of 1280 SP in arrangements of 4's (320x4) for Barts XT (HD 6770?), we also get a tantalizing glimpse of adjacent products, thought to be Caicos (mainstream graphics, HD 6500/6600?) and Cayman (enthusiast graphics, HD 6800?). Plus a 'Render & Processing Engine' designation for grouping SIMD's in clusters of 160 with 32TMU's and 16ROP's.

Does the blurring obfuscate a 480 (x4, for 1920 SP) for Cayman, meaning 48 ROP's and 96 TMU's? Is Caicos, previously thought to be the entry level graphics product, actually the mainstream graphics part? Running 16ROPs and 480SP (160x4 edit no, thats 640...), coincidentally the same number of SP's as the first FUSION APU, LLano, the 32nm quad core due in 2H 11 for mainstream desktops, it could be a quite compelling part as our recent Redwood examination showed.

Fake. That is GPU-Z 0.4.4 which doesn't have support for 6800 series. If it was correct, Cayman wouldn't be in there, it would be a number ID.
