Prepare to lose hours of work time or family time... Once you start this game you will want to play until you get a brilliant star on each of the 15 levels.

This game is very easy to play but pretty hard to master. Currently I have "Brilliant" star on all but level 14 & 15. Damn invisible cloaking bosses!

Enjoy!

The only way to get a Brilliant star is to stop any enemies from even touching your gems. If 1 gem gets touched the best you can get is excellent.

Once you get your experience up be sure to get the extra gem upgrade.

Maybe someone should start a thread called "Productivity Killers" in the game section so we can put all of these little time wasters in one place for easy access. We would need the OP to update the first post when someone points out a new game.

I think it would make a fine addition to the sticky collection. ;)

That would be cool. Would be really nice if there was a user rating system... netflix style.

There aren't stats that I have found so no negatives for replaying a level. You can keep replaying any level to gain xp or try for a better Star status.

Did either of you beat level 14 with a brillant star? If so what did you do?

have played that level many times and always the last guy is a cloaking, speed boost boss with mega hit points, cloaks at the very edge of the map, and then speed boosts to the gems and runs off the map, all cloaked. I do 3 meteor shows on him and it only takes him down to 1/2 health.
Only thing I can think of is a lucky freeze shot that hits him at start of map.

If you want awesome Tower Defense games, throw an eye at Defense Grid:The Awakening and Sol Survivor. Not free, but both are million light years ahead of all the flash games and are both well worth the money. A must ahve if you're a tower defense junkie. I never was until i tried Defens Grid. And resisted to try Sol Survivor, but when i did, i couldn't stop playing it. With several modes it gives you nearly unlimited options and almost days of gameplay (not just hours).

DG:TA is painfully addictive. I can't stop replaying everything to see if I can do just a little better. ARGH.

Never heard of Sol Survivor. I assume I will own it shortly. I am a TD junkie.

I have had my eye on Defence Grid for some time. I own no other tower-defence games. The general consensus seems to be that this is the one to go for, or is there anything better within the genre?

Saying that any particular game in any genre is "the best" is really subjective.

DG:TA is easy to learn and easy to play (good UI), but not particularly difficult to complete if you are not striving for optimal scores, ranking or trying to get some of the achievements.

The levels are artfully crafted with a lot of detail, so the game looks very nice (3D iso view with 3 levels of zoom and panning, but no rotation). You can pause the game and restart levels at anytime. There is also a method to make a "checkpoint" that you can go back to if your cunning tower layout starts well but evolves into epic failure.

There are now a couple of expansion missions and also some cheap DLC missions ($2 each or something).

Overall, it's a fine game that you can relax and enjoy for many hours. If you are the kind of gamer that likes to beat a game as fast a possible without enjoying the complexities and variations presented, you will not like the game.

Just my 2 cent review. :)

It's extremely difficult, and takes a bit of luck, but here's how I did it.

You need to make sure you have your meteor spell leveled all the way and by the final wave, have 500 mana and a bit of money, also make sure that you have the skill that makes building your temples give you 20 mana.

It's a good idea to set the speed to low on the final boss so he walks slower, when he shows up spam all five of your meteors, by holding down shift and clicking on the boss. if he’s not frozen he’ll be weakened but not killed. This is when you very quickly place 5 temples again holding shift to do it quickly, to gain 100 more mana, then cast one more meteor spell on the boss and he should die.

in order to help you gain the money, upgrade your cut out spell so that it only costs 50 mana to use and gives you 100 gold each time you use it. every time you see you don’t need mana and you’re maxed out spam cut out on random things to get more money.
