Remember the GK104 isn't nvidia's top Kepler GPU. That will be the GK100/GK110 and that will beat the 7970.

Why the hefty price??? for GK104 when we know GK100 is the crown

I digress, talking about future cards beating other future or recent cards has no point to it.

Sure it does. Without speculation there would only be about 100 threads on TPU. :D

So will the HD9990 beat the GTX890 ? Inquiring minds want to know !!!

Is this threads purpose to have a AMD Fanboy vs Nvidia Fanboy pissing contest? Cause that's what it looks like to me.

No, its for clarification, there should have been a third player in the GPU segment so at list it would not be AMD Radeon vs Nvidia GeForce. Too bad Intel could not make it.

Gk104 is already winning.

that looks overly exaggerated, espeically from a website id consider not being of a reputable source.
i find it funny that people are claiming that this is not a reputable source yet people were claiming that the posts
yet in the claims from obscure Chinese forums that the 680 would be three times faster than the 580 it was being totted around like it was the word of a god or something

Yup. Valpe, that's what people do here (and on lots of sites). They pick the reviews that suit them and stomp all over the place. It's actually quite fun to watch if you have popcorn.

A lot of us will simply wait until W1zz puts up his review because that's what we use as our standard for determining the worthyness of a GC.

But hey ! As long as people stay civil, all is good.

I don't think anyone in this forum has ever said that it would be 3 times faster.

And the Inq is a tabloid, so I don't think it's a reputable source. Much less with the tone of the poster. Plus the pictures scream fake. I mean 8SP? At the very least they didn't get that card working properly. In worst case it's the worst fake ever.

I say we just ignore anyone posting anything about the 680's performance until W1zz gets his hands on it, would save everyone alot of wasted time.

Shit - this is good reading - remembers me to go down the basement and
find my old Matrox Mystique and the 3DFx Voodoo card - then I´ll beat the
crap out of both Nvidia and AMD/ATI ...

Ohh wait - a single Volari will do the job....

What bullshit is this, what gamer gives a crap for compute performance, fact is going by the toms hardware review of the 680, it beats the 7970 by a good 20% in games!

some people want it all, and the number is growing as is the uses for gpgpu so he had a point ,as do you most wont care about gpgpu, calm down though wizz's review isnt even out;)

and i doubt the figures elsewhere as i can make my xfired 5870-5850 come close to a 680 with the right settings;) well the most ive got is 10777P but the point still stands a bench is a bench and every OC record ive watched used benches on the lowest settings with no textures etc etc

WE'VE HEARD REPORTS ...

TL : DR

Weren't you trashing the 680 in the Gigabyte thread saying that if it didn't support DX 11.1 it would be a worthless card, and then saying you only wanted the card for photo editing? Now is compute your main concern?

I don't really understand the need to trash an unreleased card, besides, even if you prefer AMD cards, if the 680 ends up being faster than the 7970 and retails for $499 as the latest rumors suggest, that means you'll be able to get a 7970 cheaper, isn't that good for you, and for all costumers in general?
