Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
New day doesnt make lanes out of thin air though. If it manages to bypass that pex chip, it will be 8x/8x.

Do u have any documentation on it now bypassing that chip and going 16x/16x?

Edit: it bypasses it for SINGLE CARD OPERATION. We are talking Sli/crossfire I thought? This is frikin confusing....

Ok earth, I ran both boards. you are correct. The Gigabyte runs in 8x(Screen shots)..............

I am glad I did this. Yes it does run in 8x. Anyhow, here is the results of the test with 2 x Radeon 7970's. Gigabyte Z77X-UP7 vs. MSI MPower(Same hardware, same settings @ 4.6GHz).

Although the Gigabyte Z77X-UP7 scores slghtly better, the MSI MPower has a higher graphics score.

I agree, MSI is flying under the radar and more people should look at them. I also had my hands on the Z77-GD65 and 55 and they both overclocked great.

I have a small update Earth, not that it made much of a difference. I was under the impression that using the 1st 2 orange slots would run at 16x on the Gigabyte Z77X-UP7. They don't. The center slots do run in 16x after lookling at the chart so I ran the benchmark over:

Gigabyte Z77X-UP7 in 16x

Gigabyte Z77X-UP7 in 8x

For all the 16x vs. 8x persons, the overall score is close to a wash with 8x actually a tad more.

Thanks again for the testing... like I said, IB doesnt have the ability to NATIVELY support 16x/16x and uses the PEX chip. You findings confirm what many sites already posted and the links I provided... glad it jives!
