the devs are going to make a fortune on this. a lot of people are paying twice the price of a polished big studio AAA title. i mean this game isn't even in alpha. i think this ends the debate on the whether video games are overpriced.

I'd rather overpay for a game like this, to developers like this, than give a cent to a company like EA.

Btw.. It says exactly how much money they have made... Almost 18 Million.. That is pretty amazing.

well same with me. my point is that some people say $60 is too much for a game. i say it is all relative. deliver a kick ass game and people will pay twice as much for it. price is relative.

Btw.. It says exactly how much money they have made... Almost 18 Million.. That is pretty amazing.

that is simply amazing.

LOL I just worked out what was wrong!.....
I'll edit out the other post as well

Just as a note, veteran backers are the same as new backers + LTI for all packages.

I kinda wish at this point I hadn't installed the hangar module. What a tease...

i spent $50
lol

I see it as preordering a game.

just like I preordered BF 1943 for PC and it NEVER CAME OUT!!!! so they gave me a game of my choice free.... 1.5 years after my preorder.

SC is a game i want to play. a space sim.

FYI: Some things have been coded already. The Hangar Module proves this. ;)

I'm gonna pick it up right before official release. I REALLY hope they pull through on delivery as I haven't played a good space sim in almost 20 years. I can see lawsuits at this point if they don't follow through. Someone somewhere that pre-ordered this is a lawyer

So far you can wander around, climb up very bugged ladders, and wander into your ship. You can sit down at the controls and move the joysticks around and make star wars shooty noises and pretend you're Red 3 standing by.

No, we're all stupid, thank you for pointing that out for us..

Some things are worth supporting.
I have wasted tons of dollars on AAA titles, that did not deliver what they promised.
I have faith in this team and I have money to spend..
It's my money and what I do with it, is of no concern to you or anyone else..

I believe you are completely missing the point. We are contributing money towards the development and coding of a game that we want to play.

I can't get over how massive the Constellation is. Beautiful though!

Not very good, the hangar alone doesn't run very well with my SLi'd 680's @1080. I get at most 40ish FPS.

I've also heard that the final game will be the new "Can it run Crysis?" for quite some time.

I want this game to be awesome... but I still can't throw money at it. They have huge ambitions and all I've seen is a pretty static display module.

they just started..... and it's a small group.

I see many people preorder things like BF4 etc without having anything at all to "play" with......

Lol what? This is what I'm most confused about the horrible fanboyism this game already has..

It's been in development for 2 years already and all we have to show is a hangar with static ships
Development started in 2011 on a modified version of the CryEngine 3 game engine.

It's being developed by a studio that is large enough to fund and man 2 seperate game studios (possibly 3, theirs speculation they have 2 studios in cali cause the press release isn't very clear on it) in Texas and California. Along with at-least 3 sub-entities.

Cloud Imperium has studios in Los Angeles, California and Austin, Texas.

Cloud Imperium Legal Structure
CIGC is the parent company to at least 3 other entities. They are:

Roberts Space Industries (RSI)
A CIG subsidiary/division created for marketing purposes, RSI is the branding entity of Star Citizen.

Cloud Imperium Services, LLC (Austin)
1712 Rio Grande St., Ste 100, Austin, TX 78701

Cloud Imperium Services, LLC (Los Angeles)
8424 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90069

Like I said I have high hopes.. but you fools who think this is some super space nerd developer in a basement making this himself need a reality check. This is about as close to a AAA development cycle you can get without being an established name.

It's all based on a timeline and is being released in an alpha stage in increments. I think most people will hold off buying this game until it actually launches.. Which is totally fine.

Like I said I have high hopes.. but you fools who think this is some super space nerd developer in a basement making this himself need a reality check. This is about as close to a AAA development cycle you can get without being an established name.

No, this is a super space-nerd god that made some of the best AAA space sims/games ever. Chris Roberts is a very established name.. erm... was until he left the industry to get fat for a while. Through the video's I've been watching it seem though, like he's losing weight. I guess these kind of undertakings takes a toll on space nerds.

well if the game is going to be the next 'but can it run crysis' then i won't bother playing it because i won't have the expensive hardware. if a space sim like EVE can look very nice and play max settings using a mediocre graphics card then there is no reason why this game can't do the same.

Star Citizen: System requirements - 8 GB RAM and 64 bit are the minimum
Chris Roberts has graphically put his team with the specific objective of Star Citizen a new milestone. In the interview, he made it clear that the hardware requirements would not, therefore, now aim for the existing state of the art. For optimal settings you'll need a high-end PC with the technology in 1.5 years. A recent GTX 770 will be expected to be adequate only for medium settings. The goal is that Star Citizen should run fluently with maybe a future GTX 880 or 980 - comparable AMD cards including of course, you would prefer a manufacturer here.
But the gaming PCs, some will be demanded not only for the graphics card: Star Citizen is absolutely need a 64-bit operating system. The reason for this is simple, as well as 8GB of memory to represent the absolute minimum. This applies not for the first hangar module, but even if the end of the module will be published dogfighting, the more memory might be necessary.Whether there would be advantages to have installed more RAM in the system, he could not say, but it is quite likely at this time. For processors, the same applies. Four cores should do the trick and will be needed if more should be done depending on the technical development of the next 12 months. As the scale of the cores will be then that he could not precisely estimate how the effect of HT.
