Well i normally have it disabled but decided to enable nd put the pagefile on another drive how ever when this is done it deletes it and places it on C:.

Don't matter if it's a fixed page or multiple pagefiles on more than one drive other than C:. in the end it will end up on C: drive.

Only way i can have a pagefile on another drive is to have one on C:.

Any idea's ?. Now going back to trying to find out what it is and thinking it might be some thing to do with the registry.

make sure to select "no paging file" on c, and not just set it up on another drive. Always hit "set" after changing a setting.

Did you hit "set" on each drive before you set the next paging file (or lack thereof?) in other words, set up new paging file on G or D or whatever, hit "set". then hit no paging file on c, then hit "set". Then hit OK. Then hit Apply. I know it's basic, and you've probably done it a hundred times, but I just figured I'd check if you maybe forgot a step.

Yes, i found a way to keep it set to 2 other drives and ends up looking like this

However by checking it again or just looking on the HDD\SSD the next reboot will shot it changed back to C: once again.. When you check it though advanced system settings it trys to save it even though you made no change and if you do save it it reverts back and even if you press cancel so you don't save it still reverts back to the defaults.

Notice that Auto manage has turned it self back on which leads me to think why it goes back to defaults on the second reboot. Not tried yet but i bet going in tot hat auto option and turning it off on each reboot will stop it from resetting but WTF ( just about to try that now lol ).

Yes it keeps it as long as each reboot i turn of auto manage each time LOL

Ok, why in the world do you have a 32GB Pagefile? LOL! If you have 16GB of ram, set that thing manually to 2GB and fuhgetaboutit. :)

Also, why don't you want it on C:\?

fastest to select as it's regardless what size is picked it will default back to windows default as auto manage will turn it's self back on lol..

And to your other question the SSD that boots the OS is 60GB and like keeping 27GB free.

Aparently it's a known issue maybe the fix here will help

Well, after you apply the fix, set it to 2GB on C:\ and call it a day.

So the fix worked, you can manually set a PF on whatever drive? What is the problem?

You really are not making much sense to me so far... I'm going to get some caffeine and try again.

he means setting it to 2gb would work, but that doesn't solve his problem.

When the page file is turned off on drive C: and another drive is selected to be for the pagefile it all resets to defaults..

As i keep saying i don't want the pagefile on drive C: although Win 7 will not let me do that.

Have you tried to just set the new paging file, and then reset? Bc W7 wants you to restart to cement the paging in stone. And then uncheck the C paging file, set that now, then apply, and then restart.

So that fix that was linked DOESNT work... :nutkick: Ok... got it.

UPDATE: From another thread (http://social.technet.microsoft.com...f/thread/c5cfe9d0-e3d8-4625-85b1-3efdf04cd1a0)

Disabling AFS.sys (sc config afs start= disabled) did the trick. Hope this helps others as well.

AsRock, the problem with the screen u posted higher op, is that u have checked "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" with that checked it will put on ur C:\ as well as all the others, u can't have it automaticly.

u uncheck it, then select C: and select "No paging file" and click "set" button and then select D: and u can choose "Custom size" or "System managed size" i will say max 2gb u don't need more for ur system or do like me 100-1024mb and click on "set" button afterwards should "create/move" the pagefile to D:, i dunno how well "System managed size" works, so i won't relay on it...

I know that's the problem..

untick and select drives set pagefile reboot and it re-ticks it and next reboot will set to windows defaults if i don't re un tick it before next reboot lol.. Trust me it was not ticked when i set it as you cannot select drives else.

Windows wants that ticked regardless what i want lol.

Have you tried selecting "no pagefile", restart and then select where you want the pagefile, then restart again?

Really? That's very odd!

Some sort of virus?
