Good luck reaching 5 GHz. The highest I can go with mine is 4.7.

dude, read the guides. All the information you need is there. We aren't going to waste our time restating the info already available to you.

You need to take the time to research your hardware, read the guides, get into and explore your BIOS/UEFI, do some baseline testing of your cooling (run AIDA, OCCT, etc. and document your idle and load temps at stock).

OC-ing is NOT something you want to rush into, especially if you're not familiar with it.

Also before OC-ing that 4770K, look into Intel's Performance Tuning Plan, it used to cost $25...it'll cover damages from overclocking that will otherwise void your factory warranty.

Then don't overclock right now. If you can't be bothered to read and can't understand what you're doing, finding someone to help is a good idea... but that really is only truly helpful if they're right there showing you (doing it for you).

A 4770k is plenty fast stock...no real need to OC until you have a grasp as to what it affects, what you should and shouldn't change and have actually spent some time reading and understanding what overclocking really is and how to really do it. It's not complicated, it's actually very easy to overclock. Overclocking with minimal voltage increases, keeping temps down as low as possible and stability solid is where the complication and time consumption comes in.

If you can't help yourself, noone else can help you either. You can pay someone to OC, use a program that came with the mainboard, or spend some time and learn how to do it yourself and enjoy it (you may or may not...most that put forth the effort do though!).

Not all 4770k's can do 5ghz. You have to be lucky and get one the good ones to have a shot at getting their. If you have the retail box cpu, then you can take the batch number off that and see what results other people have got from it. Majority people can only expect at most 4.7ghz and some cases not even that.
 
A mhz over 4.4 at 1.35v and it crashes for mine. Run more voltage you say? Yeah, doesn't help, still crashes. 4.4s my limit it seems on this chip. If you get 5, way to go I hope you have water / tec

i ocied my E8500 to 4ghz before and some guys helped me step by step i dunno why you playing it clean here
lets have fun with it and see how far it will go . guys at overclockers web made me use prime95 on stock fan hitting tj max i dont think we will do
anything worse
 
AIDA has a heavier test, I also find that OCCT has a better test...both use AVX instructions which will run your CPU past 100C for a millisecond before it can throttle.

The only person playing is you...I am cleanly stating, if you don't want to put forth the proper effort, then don't overclock.

How easy is it to OC a 4770k? Quite...look at my system specs. Go into your OC settings in BIOS/UEFI and set your voltage to 1.25v, and set the CPU multi to 45X for all cores (sync all cores). F10 for save and reboot. It can be that simple. Can your chip do the same with less voltage? Maybe... does it blue screen and need more? Possibly.

There's trial and error...it's not exactly clean. You might hit 5GHz, but I'd say set a goal for 4.5Ghz, and when everyone tells you the common sense, safe and proven methods of learning to OC you shouldn't ignorantly blow them off. That will bite you more than anyone here, and will only cost you in the end. But we'll be more than happy to make suggestions, but a time will come when noone cares to when suggestions continually fall on deaf ears. Food for thought.

Again good luck, and understand that Haswell is a little more finicky to OC than a Core2. You had CPU voltage and FSB on Core2. Here you have Multipliers, different types of voltage...I prefer Adaptive, others prefer solid with max LLC, some increase the Wattage settings, are you going to use the XMP settings with your memory or not? Will it cause issues? It might...it might not. Do you need to manually adjust your memory? Most likely...I prefer to anyways on Haswell builds. Take it from someone that's been doing this for a long time, since well before Core2's. Spend the time to read and put forth some effort in learning how to do it right, read a couple guides, read the TPU Haswell Club thread, buy the Intel Performance Tuning Plan, and then you'll have some fun. Why is it so hard for you to just read a few of the guides we posted, and then if you have further questions ask them???????? Those guides are there for people like you to figure this out. What we would be telling you, is what is from those guides, just not nearly as much details, but I guess ill tell you how to get started seeing how I guess we have the same motherboard.

1. Set all memory clocks to stock (disable XMP, etc.)
2. Set each of the 4 Core multipliers Ratios to 44 (This will get you 4.4GHZ. Good starting point)
3. Set min and max cache Ratio to 39
4. Set vcore option to manual mode and set it to 1.25
5. Set cache voltage option to manual mode and set it to 1.15v
6. Leave System Agent, Digital and Analog I/O to auto
7. Leave Initial Input voltage to auto
8. Set eventual Input voltage to 1.75v

Go into Digi+ options:

Set Load Line Calibration to Level 6.

That should be it from the top of my head. Save and exit the BIOS see if you boot. If you do, great, if not let us know.
 
You won't be able to get 5GHz on that cooler stable. If you want a 5GHz CPU-Z shot, go for it, should be a walk in the park if you are willing to push the volts up past 1.4v...

Just push up the multis and add the volts to keep it stable. Once you are at the thermal limit of the CPU (which with benchmark stability and loads is probably before 5GHz) it will start throttling and you can say bye to your OC... You might need to turn up the iVR input voltage at some point to get better stability and it might also help to reduce any possible load on other parts of the CPU, like run memory in single channel at 1066MHz, reduce cache freq. etc.

Just don't expect your CPU to live long at 1.4+ volts...
 
1st try i wanted to get 5ghz on 1,35v
2nd try i did it at 1,38v

i can go further but i dont see a point

all my cpus always did 5ghz easly
starting from 2600k ofc
2600k 3960x 3930k e5-1660 3570k 3770k 4820k and now 4770k

best for sure was e5-1660, i got it to 5,1 on 1,5v

i always test my clock with 10 mins of Linx

key is good cooling, i have top temps at 60'C with this CPU, with earliers like c core 3960x i have top temp 51'C but i gues termal coumpund in 4770k is crap...
 
I've seen 4770ks needing 1.4v to do 4.4GHz.... I've seen ones that hit 5GHz with <1.3v... Really depends on your luck with the Silicon lottery.

I have haswell outta the l313b329 batch, one person clamed to got 5ghz outta it @ 1.25volts.

you are likely not to get that. There are only a few good chips per batch number.
 
i have a stable 4.5 @ 1.20 volts and i haven't even tried pushing it higher or lowering voltage more yet.
